Madonna for Louis Vuitton

Filed under: Style in the News

It's that time of year again. People are aimlessly searching forums, blogs, and other fashion media outlets to find out who are those bright young things fronting some of fashion's most prestigious ad campaigns next season.

Daisy Lowe and Raquel Zimmerman Star in Marc Jacobs' Spring '09 ads

Filed under: Style in the News

Much like the candidates up for key positions in President-Elect Barack Obama's administration, everyone wants to know who is starring in Marc Jacobs' Spring '09 ad campaigns.

Daisy Lowe stars in new Converse by John Varvatos campaign

After keeping it casual and understated in Doc Martens' ad campaigns for the past couple of seasons, Daisy Lowe aka Gavin Rossdale's lovechild, has found a new shoe company to play with: Converse.

The British "it" girl stars alongside some slightly dirty male model in the new Converse by John Varvatos ad campaign. Wearing lots of black eyeliner and using a French fry as a mustache, Mark Ronson's boo looks laid back and in her element in the Ryan McGinley lensed photographs.

In addition to the ads that will run in magazines like Vogue,Interview, and GQ, there will be a sixty second film that depicts the models in the ad causing mayhem inside of a diner. But we know they probably do that a lot in real life, so this shouldn't have been too hard for them to reenact.

Bliss FatGirlSlim is annoying even if it works

We realize it's totally hypocritical for us to get all politically correct, but every time we see Bliss FatGirlSlim a big self-righteous bug crawls up our butt. Our big, fat, girly butt.

Why did they have to name it that? Granted, the provocative name gets attention, but it also makes us vow to never, ever, ever in a million years want to buy it. Ever. And to be candid, we could use it.

What about you? Does a salty name or spicy ad campaign influence your buying decision? Or is your choice based only on whether or not the product does what it says it will do?

Would an offensive name or ad campaign keep you from buying a product?

And the Marc Jacobs fall '08 models are...

Kirsten Owen and Stella Tennant.

That's right.

Marc Jacobs has hopped onto the Supermodel Express and nabbed the proud mothers and former grunge icons for his Fall '08 ad campaign -- both of whom didn't take one turn on the runways last season.

As if anyone could forget, Victoria Beckham took the honors of fronting Marc's campaign for spring -- most notably dangling her super-tanned legs over a MJ shopping bag.

Suffice it to say, Stella and Kirsten have a lot to live up to. But we have faith in them -- especially since they get to play with fuzzy headbands and pastel coats that would make any Sesame Street character green with envy.

Marc Jacobs loves models again

You're in for a treat, dear readers. We have some major breaking news to report: Marc Jacobs' days of putting actresses in his ad campaigns seemed to be numbered. Hooray!

The designer recently told The Independent in an interview, "We're using models next season, we're not ready for Kevin & Britney yet."

ScaJo in her undies

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Have you ever noticed the way that models want to become actresses and actresses want to become models? Following in the footsteps of actress-turned-models Uma Thurman (who was technically a model before becoming an actress) and Jennifer Lopez, screen darling Scarlett Johansson has landed one of the most coveted fashion campaigns: Louis Vuitton. In the spring/summer 2007 print ads the unstoppable ScaJo poses for the French fashion house wearing nothing but her undies.

Kind of makes me wonder how old Woody Allen is reacting to this news. Allen has, on more than one occasion, admitted to finding Johansson "sexually overwhelming" in her clothes. But Scarlett in her unmentionables? Now that might be entering into heart attack-inducing territory for the beloved director.
