We all know that fashion is art, especially when you're talking about shows at the various Fashion Weeks. However, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and art is pretty subjective -- and Alexander McQueen's Paris show definitely had people questioning whether or not he crossed a line. As the New York Times put it so well, "Fashion is in a fractured state," and at a time when other designers didn't dare go over the top, McQueen gave a show that was, well, a show.

Target McQ Arrives at Last!

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

As soon as we heard that Alexander McQueen was the latest designer to create a line for Target we started counting the days minutes seconds until we can get our hands on the edgy and affordable McQ Alexander McQueen for Target.

And we're not alone -- we heard the try-on line was longer than the bar line at the celebrity filled Target McQ Market VIP shopping party on Friday, February 13. Stylish stars like January Jones, Michelle Trachtenberg, Amanda Bynes and Brittany Snow, are just as crazy about those pink and black Zigzag-Print Zip Leggings as we are!

Designers like Stella McCartney, Zac Posen, and Luella Bartley have all had hugely successful partnerships with the "design for everyone" retailer. If past Target collaborations are any indication, you'll want to get in line early on March 4th when Target McQ goes on sale nationwide!

FALL 2009 FASHION WEEK - Fans Rock Out For Target's New McQ Line

Filed under: Fashion Week by Refinery 29

By Sarah Moroz, Photos by Callie Klebanoff for Refinery 29

Ah, Liela Moss. Wearing a sculptural patent vest with big shoulders, short gloves (the miniskirt of gloves-they didn't extend past her knuckles), and long blonde bangs to the bridge of her nose, she sang with her band the Duke Spirit and fist-pumped to a crowd of champagne sippers and McQ for Target perusers last night. Held in a hangar on the cusp of the West Side Highway, the space was industrial and made even more so with pseudo graffiti, fences, and Target ads postered all around. Racks of McQ's line of magenta zig-zag leggings, and black jumpsuits bordered the space and every gal was smitten, as evidenced by the queue for try-on, which was jaw-droppingly long. Spotted in the crowd were the adorable Rose Byrne and the pseudo DvF employee Whitney Port with her entourage.

Wallace and Gromit - Britain's newest spokesmodels

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Celebrity spokesmodels have long been used to help stores and brands gain recognition and fans. Normally, the celebrities are people we want to emulate, like Kate Moss or Angelina Jolie. However, British department store Harvey Nichols is trying a slightly different type of model -- specifically, the claymation duo Wallace and Gromit.

I want that! Joy Brant in Alexander McQueen

Her fashion sense reflects her name in our books – joyous. At the Alexander McQueen store opening in L.A. a few months back, the lovely Joy Bryant wore one of the designer's killer tiger stripped strapless maxi dresses.

Only Joy can make something that could go so terribly wrong look so right... and cute! We just love how she always has such a casual glamor about her. Hell, she pulls off McQueen with a jean jacket better than anyone we know.

Socks+sandals: Alexander McQueen pairs the unthinkable

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Shoes

(Click on the photo for more shocking and ridiculous runway fashion)

Our world is officially rocked. If men are pulling off pantyhose (or mantyhose) these days, then it's hard to really fault someone for pairing sock with sandals (if you can call them sandals) -- especially when it actually looks good. Not wear it out in public good, mind you, but good in that 'wow that doesn't even really look offensive' kind of way. Actually, we think they look like some sort of couture bowling shoes.

What could be better than shopping for designer duds in your pajamas (imported silk lounging pajamas, of course)? Alexander McQueen is making that possible -- not with a flagship store slumber party, but with a new online store.

Trend alert: butt crack couture

Filed under: Style in the News, Swimwear and Lingerie

Not all that long ago, butt crack fashion was only popular among hip hop circles, prison gangs, and members of a certain profession dealing with pipes and drains. Now, butt cleavage is apparently working its way to the top of the female fashion hierarchy -- right next to traditional cleavage. So, move over whale-tail, the next big movement in 21st century raunchy couture is all about the beauty of the extreme lower back.

As low rise jean keep migrating down the hips, it seems that lingerie designers are starting to explore the cheap thrill of assless fashion. More and more, we're starting to see panties with these risqué butt windows. From Alexander McQueen's expeditions into uncharted low-rise territory, to Heidi Klum's butt-crack dress last winter-- it seems that the fashion world has become addicted to crack. You might even call it the fashion fetish of our time, but we think it's a little too early to tell.
