The fashion scene in Berlin has grown steadily over the past ten years. With a vibrant youth culture based in the low-rent sections of the eastern part of the city, it's no surprise that ambitious endeavors in fashion, art and music have come out of the once-divided German capital. For the most part though, the
avant-garde designs from Deutscheland have been considered niche-market novelties -- not collections for widespread consumption.
But all of that is about to change.
In July, Berlin will host its first big name, international Fashion Week. The week-long fashion bonanza will featured the Spring 08 collections of Vivienne Westwood and Hugo Boss, as well as a few of the new faces in German design.
Just to prove that everything's coming up
Rosen und Narzissen, rumor has it that next season's Top Model contestants will be headed to Berlin for the on-location portion of the competition.
Guess Tyra is going to have to figure out how you say, "Congratulations, you are still in the running to be America's Next Top Model" in German. Good luck with that ...
