There's always like a big deal or whatever about review samples (ie free stuff aka swag) for editors during New York Fashion Week. These booths from Bryant Park S/S '09 were generally a waste of time with their long lines and tiny samples.
In this case, Havanianas and TRESemme both have good quality product lines. But to wait in a long line of grabby hands for $15 dollar sandals or pass out hotel sized samples during certain hours just seems like a waste of space in many ways.
Obviously these type of sponsors make the whole thing possible but they don't necessarily enhance the Bryant Park experience. Even anonymous booth staffers agreed there's probably better ways to get samples out there. For better use of space, we're going to suggest more couches and comfy, clean things to sit on.

We don't know what is going through people's minds when they get dressed. While browsing some pictures from Bryant Park this week, we were struck (nearly dumb and senseless, but lucky for you we recovered our wits) by the absurdity of the boots people are pairing with short skirts and bare legs.
Here is a reminder: boots are for cold weather. They offer an additional layer of protection for your legs. If they are opened toed or so floppy that they drag on the ground, then they are bad boots. Also, they look stupid.
The StyleFouls were so plentiful that we had to do a whole gallery. Look at your own risk, but for the love of good taste, do not emulate these fashion mistakes!

Lately, designers have been uprooting from the usual digs and moving to completely different cities to work and show their collections in.
Will Victoria Beckham be a no-show at Bryant Park?

Say it ain't so! Our girl Vicky B. won't be showing her new designs at Bryant Park next month.According to Fashion Week Daily, the former Marc Jacobs campaign queen has decided not to show her frilly frocks and "ferosh" tailored suits at New York Fashion Week. A reason why Victoria's looks will be a no-show hasn't been given, but if the resent demise of her dVb denim line is any indication of what we should expect for her new ready-to-wear collection, well, we can stand to wait a little longer.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Beckham will still be a front row fixture at the shows come September. She may even snag another major fashion campaign -- stay tuned!

Miley Cyrus performed on the ABC's "Good Morning America" on July 18 in New York's Bryant Park. The pop princess' mini concert was cool but her kick ass combo of cutesy pleated shorts paired with a ruffled button up was even cooler. We here at StyleDash are fans of the contrast between something masculine like plaid which is turned completely fem with the addition of ruffles and soft colors. And the addition of a few bracelets is an excellent option for day.
Kudos to the near perfect ensemble Cyrus. Now just try to keep those clothes on and dry... at least in front of cameras anyway.

NY Fashion Week is moving?

I know it's hard to believe, but starting in 2010, NY Fashion Week will have to find a new home away from Bryant Park, where it's been since 1993. IMG World, the organizers of Fashion Week, are in a kind of standoff with Bryant Park officials who say the event has come to monopolize the park. Where the tents will end up, nobody knows for sure. There was talk of the festivities moving over to the soon-to-be developed 10th Avenue Rail yards, but it looks like that idea is getting scratched in favor of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. No -- I'm not making this up. The foremost event in US fashion might one day end up on the roof of a smelly old bus terminal, but there are some upsides -- like having access to the terminal's sweet vending machines. The New York Times office is right across the street too, so I'm sure they'll like that. Right now, the heads of the Port Authority are trying to sell the idea to IMG, the only major problem is that there aren't adequate elevators to get people up to the roof.
Lauren's Fashion Week Diary: Opening Ceremony

I know we are already well into the day of runway shows at Mercedes- Benz Fashion Week but let's take it back to 8:00am, before anything really began, shall we? Sure we shall, I am making the rules here.It was a cold gusty morning in New York City and Bryant Park was buzzing with people, mostly photographers, waiting to see the ribbon get cut, and for the tent doors to fly open. The ribbon ceremony included the cast of the new NBC television program Lipstick Jungle, which airs Feb.7th. I wish I could tell you all beat by beat what happened but the only thing I heard (I certainly couldn't see) was about 100 voices and flash bulbs going off. About five minutes later the event was over and the only thing left was this sad little ribbon.
After everyone got tired of taking photographs of the ribbon, the new challenge was getting inside. They were not opening those doors and we wanted in! Ten long, cold minutes later we were in and were welcomed to a beautiful tent with booths set up with all of our media needs.
IMG, The Heart Truth, Judith Ripka, DHL, Lycra bring the booths at the tent to us this year, and there is even a gorgeous lingerie booth (post to come on that later). The best booth of all, well it's more like a stage, is the American Expresses coverage of the show with Robert Verdi and Roshumba Williams. Throughout the week they will be chatting up the stars and giving American Express cardholders the play-by-play during Fashion Week.
