CK "Face" makeup - Tip of the day!

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day, Beauty Tips

We recently saw a CK ad and, literally, said aloud, "Holy crap is that makeup marvelous!" So obviously, we investigated. The CK "Face" collection is brand new and goes hand in hand with the CK girl's wardrobe - minimal yet modern. Even cooler is the fact that they pull many of the makeup shades right off of the runway, converting trendy fabrics and hues into colors for the "Face."

Calvin Klein Secret Obsession - Eva Mendes' sexy perfume in stores October '08

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

By now you've all seen the racy Eva Mends ads for Calvin Klein Secret Obsession that were deemed too sexy (oooh, nipple!) for tv. In all the nudity hulabaloo, it's easy to forget that it was an ad for an actual product, the modern update of the iconic Obsession perfume.

Calvin Klein - 40 years of shock, awe, and fantastic fashion

Calvin Klein Advitorial Retrospective

This month marks the 40th anniversary of the Calvin Klein design empire -- a business started with $10,000 in 1968 that today earns billions of dollars in revenue every year, and has become one of the most recognizable fashion labels on the planet.

    Getty

In 1980, a 15-year-old Brooke Shields cooed that "nothing gets between me and my Calvins." CBS refused to air the spot but the campaign made the model and the designer household names.

    Calvin Klein

Though his business is clothes, Klein is perhaps best known for his racy ads for fragrances and undies, which always managed to embrace the next big thing -- and infuriate the establishment in the process. This controversial Obsession ad from the 90s features then barely known model Kate Moss.

    Calvin Klein

Parent groups routinely decried the raunchy ads targeted at teens, like this 90s TV ad that sent sales of the popular CK One fragrance skyrocketing.

    AP

Called "child-porn" by youth advocates, this racy 1995 billboard was publicly condemned by President Clinton. It was quickly pulled, but solidified Klein's reputation as a provocateur (and sold a lot of jeans).

    Getty

Playful, or pedophilia? Four years after the CK Jeans scandal, Klein claimed these children's underwear ads captured the "warmth and spontaneity" of a family photo album -- but the American Family Association called them pornographic. A mere 24 hours after their release, the ads were yanked.

    AP

Before Mark Wahlberg was hanging with an "Entourage" his crew was the Funky Bunch and he was best known for dropping his pants, grabbing his crotch, and posing in his Calvin Klein skivvies.

If he didn't shoot them in their skivvies, the designer dressed the young and gorgeous when they were in character. Alicia Silverstone rocked this barely-there CK ensemble in the 1995 movie Clueless. "It's a dress," she told her on-screen dad (played by Dan Hedaya). "Says who?" He stammered -- to which Silverstone famously replied: "Calvin Klein!"

    Universal

Klein has never been one to shy away from scandal. The designer is credited with discovering superwaif Kate Moss and turning her into a supermodel in the 90s. When she was busted for cocaine in 2005, he promptly put her to work on another campaign.

You know you've arrived when someone writes an unauthorized biography and "Obsession: The Lives and Times of Calvin Klein," which was published in 1994, chronicled not just the designer's rise to fame, but all the drugs, alcohol and promiscuous sex that came with it. The book stopped just short of calling Klein a closeted homosexual and implied his marriage to second wife Kelly Rector was a sham. They divorced in 2006.

Light, summer heat appropriate eyeshadow palette from Calvin Klein

Wearing makeup in the heat can be a real drag. Hot, humid days take away even our urge to cake on the turquoise eyeshadow and coral blusher. Don't even mention sticky lipgloss. Ugh.

Still, there are occasions in the heat of summer when you need a little something to make your face to look finished: weddings, graduations, baby showers, even the company picnic. For these light-wear days, we're loving CK Calvin Klein Shimmer Palette in Urban Luster.

Eva Mendes CK fragrance ads too hot for TV

Filed under: Style in the News, Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

It was just a couple weeks ago that recently-rehabbed actress Eva Mendes appeared in Vogue Germany -- for the most part without her clothes. And now, word 'round the Internet is that the star's latest ad campaign is similarly scandalous.

The TV spots are for a new Calvin Klein fragrance called Secret Obsession, and apparently clearly show Eva "having illicit thoughts." So illicit, in fact, that they're making network TV sensors very uncomfortable -- which means the ads will likely never see the light of day.

Eva mendes covers Vogue Italia

Click the image to see Eva's racy Vogue photo shoot.

It's official. Hollywood has taken over the fashion industry.

Evidence? After leaving rehab a couple of months ago, actress Eva Mendes scooped up some free cashmere sweaters from Calvin Klein and an additional contract with the brand to model its intimates.

And now the beautiful lady has landed on the cover of what some consider to be the fashion bible, Vogue.

After snapping the 34-year-old Cuban-American for Calvin's perfume and underwear ads earlier this year, which will make their debut in fall fashion mags, famed photographer Steven Meisel asked Mendes to pose for the May cover of Italian Vogue.

Breaking News! A model wants to be a singer

It's raining fashion campaigns in Hollywood.

Practically, every young starlet has their name associated with some major brand: Hayden Panettiere designs bright-colored patent leather totes for Dooney&Bourke; Eva Mendes will be fronting two Calvin Klein campaigns next season; Rachel Bilson is designing a diffusion line with DKNY Jeans; Ashlee Simpson just signed a deal with Wetseal, and Chloë Sevigny, uh, well, who hasn't she collaborated with?

Tom Brady might pose in his undies

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Men, Celebrities with Style

For anyone who only watches football for the tight pants, this could just be your lucky day. Rumor is that Tom Brady, quarterback for the New England Patriots, is going to strip down to his undies for a new Calvin Klein campaign.

This kind of ad campaign isn't rocket science -- aimed at either dudes who think they'll look hot and manly like Tom Brady in a new pair of Calvins, or at the women in their life who buy them underwear. Regardless, Brady will bank on this one -- scoring a reported seven figures for what will amount to a couple of hours standing around in his skivvies.

The real question is: how will Tom match up to David Beckham's recent ads for Armani? Sure, they're both ripped, good looking, blah blah blah. But the soccer star was looking rather rotund in his nether regions -- and it'd sure be embarrassing for Tom (and Gisele!) if his Calvin shoot didn't, uh, measure up.

V-day lingerie? try a virtual dressing room

Everybody loves lingerie on Valentine's Day, men like to give it and women like to get it. There's only one problem: most dudes don't know the first thing when it comes to buying lingerie. To make matters worse, no matter how confident a guy is in most of life's situations, it's hard not to feel like a creep when you're sifting through lacey thongs in the women's lingerie section. I don't know why it's embarrassing -- it just is.

Now there's a better way. KnickerPicker is an online dressing room for women's lingerie that allows you to preview what a pair of designer skivvies looks like in action. It's easy, just pick a model, filter down the outfits you want to see and voila! -- softcore porn. You can even have the models walk toward you down a long catwalk or turn around so you can check out their butt without any guilt or shame.

Knicker Picker is based out of the UK, but they're offering free shipping worldwide on orders of more than £15.
