Fall 2009 Fashion Week - Backstage at Carolina Herrera

Carolina Herrera Fall 2009
SHOW:
Carolina Herrera

MAKEUP: Diane Kendal for MAC

HAIR: Orlando Pita for T3

BEAUTY SNAPSHOT: Simply romantic

THE SCOOP: The look at Carolina Herrera was in lock-step with the designer's classic approach to fashion. Ornately pinned buns -- studded with copper roses -- were juxtaposed with a minimalist, glowing face.

Dry conditioner was worked through the hair, which was pulled -- not slicked -- back. "The hair is up because there a lot of collars," said lead hair stylist Orlando Pita, the mastermind behind the show's pretty, modern take on the bun. "These little flowers were on the belts and the shoes."

Makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury created a fresh, ethereal shimmer for the face. "Really it's just all the natural highlights, just enhancing the girls' natural beauty." To achieve the effect, concealer was blended onto the eyelids as a base and white, shimmery pigment was added to the eyes and cheekbones.

Renee Zellweger is a Mechanical Animal

Renee Zellweger in a misguided Carolina Herrera
Oh, Renee. Your hair looks nice, but come on. What is this dress all about? We honestly had no intention of being mean about anybody at the Golden Globes, but you have given us no choice. Why? Because it looks like your are wearing a mesh school marm outfit worthy of Marilla from Anne of Green Gables over this:

Michelle Obama reminds Phillip Bloch of another First Lady

Phillip Bloch calls Michelle Obama

Like so many others, we've been impressed by Michelle Obama's polished, classic and accessible fashion style. Phillip Bloch is also a huge fan, so much so that he and Forest Whitaker's wife devised a special nickname for her: "Blackie O."

Renee Zellweger in Carolina Herrara - I want that!

Though we're a little unsure of the hair do (is she looking like she has a little case of the Sharon Stone crazies to you too?), we can wholly say we are committed to this lacy but not racy Caroline Herrera number that Renee has on. She kept her David Yurman accessories to a minimum to really allow the dress to take center stage. Absolutely on trend, age appropriate and dazzling daaaahling.

We also had to mention that we just can't get enough of Renee's poses. You can totally tell she practices in the mirror! But hell, practice makes perfect and we can vouch that Renee is pretty close to perfection!

Carolina Herrera dress, Sorry, this one was specially made for Renee! Call the store to special order.
