I want that! Lucy Liu in Oscar de la Renta

Filed under: Dresses, Get the Look

Lucy Liu is looking fantastic in her Oscar de la Renta dress. How about it? After all, she's been "experimenting" quite a bit since her roll on Cashmere Mafia. Not that we don't love a risk taker but some of it was a little, well, eeeeekkkk!

Anyhoo, we're glad the lovely Miss Lucy is back on track in her trendy art print dress. Art print = big fall trend -- *hint hint* So make like Lucy Liu and get on it!

Splurge or Save: Cashmere Mafia lingerie

Cashmere Mafia LingerieI love how television characters always go to bed in some piece of fabulous lingerie. I am lucky if I take off last night's clothes before heading into the sack.

In this scene from ABC's Cashmere Mafia, Mia Mason (Lucy Liu) is wearing a gorgeous purple silk chemise after an unplanned romp with her ex. Many people have inquired about where to find this sexy little chemise without breaking the bank. I have two options, one is splurge worthy and one is a deal too good to pass up:

Splurge! For $160 you can look just like Mia in this chemise by La Petite Coquette, which is almost identical to the one on Cashmere Mafia. The only difference is the color of the straps and the purple seems to be a half a shade lighter than this one.

Save! For a mere $24.50 you can get this purple slip from Victoria's Secret. You get the same look for a fraction of the price, the only thing you will miss is the black lace on the bottom. Not a bad sacrifice for something so sexy.

Get the Look: Caitlin Dowd, Cashmere Mafia

caitlin dowd cashmere mafiaWhat the world needs now, is a new 'Sex and the City' ...

It's pretty much impossible to replicate the power of 'Sex and the City' and it's influence on the fashion world but you can't hate a show for trying. 'Cashmere Mafia' on ABC is one of many shows being called "the next Sex and the City." It certainly has the right ingredients; 4 women in New York City who wear designer fashions -- heck even SATC stylist Patricia Field is the costume designer for the show too.

The show doesn't fill my 'Sex and the City' void completely but there are a few fashionable finds on the program, like this outfit worn by the character Caitlin Dowd.

Fashionable television wars

Updated Sex and the City Book
All of a sudden there has been a wave of new fashionable television programming. There are shows about fashion and shows where fashion is the "fifth" character.

The two most buzzed about shows of the moment are Cashmere Mafia (starring Lucy Liu) and Lipstick Jungle (starring Brooke Shields). Both shows revolve around a grouping of single women living in the big city trying to maintain their lives.

Sound familiar? Well it should, they are eerily similar to Sex and the City. It's not only the premises that sounds similar, these new shows are also expected to have women running out to imitate the styles of women on the shows – just like the Carrie phenomenon.

I have watched Cashmere Mafia twice now and while the stylist is the same (Patricia Field) when it comes to fashionable television accept no imitators, Sex and the City holds the title for the most fashionable show in recent television history.
