Gaga Over Lady GaGa

With two consecutive number 1 hits and an eye catching personal style, Lady GaGa has become both a pop darling and a fashion muse. The singer herself sees it as all part of the same package, swearing to MTV that when she's writing her music she's thinking about what clothes to wear on stage. "Fashion is everything ... I want the imagery to be so strong that fans will want to eat and taste and lick every part of us."

While we haven't seen any cannibalistic fan activity, StyleList's has certainly noticed that Hollywood has started looking a little more like GaGa everyday. But who is really the copycat?

Back in 2008 when Christina Aguilera made her post-baby red carpet return at the MTV VMAs, a small but vocal chorus of pop savvy critics noticed that her new look was not exactly her own. Xtina's GaGa ripoff seemed like a one off, but in the months since then it's become clear that Aguilera is gaga over Lady GaGa and she's certainly not alone.

Would you dare to try Lady Gaga's style?

Everyone from the formerly "Dirrty" singer to Nicole Richie have turned to Lady GaGa to inspire their new looks, but that hardly means the Lady herself is 100% original. GaGa's style collective "Haus of GaGa" is charged with developing the singer's look and while they have managed to put their own spin on each ensemble they haven't actually created much that hasn't been done before. Check out the gallery below to see where GaGa gets her fashion moves and who's taking their cues from the Lady of the moment.

Gaga Over Lady GaGa

According to GaGa she and Gwen Stefani have nothing in common beyond their hair color, but we see it a little differently. Musically the two aren't a match, but it's hard to deny GaGa borrows from Ms Stefani's style.

GaGa is not the first nor will she be the last to pay tribute to Madonna's legendary style but she's certainly more committed to bringing back the cone bra than any of Madge's other admirers.

There is no one Lady GaGa references more than Grace Jones. In fact, if Lady GaGa is doing it chances are Grace Jones did it bigger and badder before Ms. GaGa was even out of diapers.

From the hoods, to her love of wearing undies instead of pants, Lady GaGa clearly adores the Aussie poptart Kylie Minogue's style.

The 2001 VMA weren't a high style point for Britney Spears but that didn't stop GaGa from following in the Princess of Pop's style footsteps.

Nicole Richie knows a thing or two about what it's like to have half of Hollywood rip off your style. The expectant mom poses as Tinseltown's latest muse on the cover of BlackBook.

One part No Doubt era Gwen Stefani, one part MIA, a dash of Blondie and suddenly Richie is 100% GaGa.

Paris Hilton's "anything Nicole can do I can do better" attitude struck again during a recent photo shoot in which the heiress channeled GaGa.

Christina Aguilera used to borrow her style from the classic pinup girls of the 1940s but since Lady GaGa came on the scene the singer has left the decade behind. This pants-less ensemble is her most recent copycat, her first was at the MTV Music Awards in 2008.

Oscar Predictions - What'll They Wear?

For fans of fashion across the globe, there's just nothing quite like the Oscars. It's like our Super Bowl, or World Series. Only with far, far uniforms.

And, just like with sports, there are definitely favorites for best dressed (as well as worst, which might be even better in its own way). We have certain hopes and expectations for this year -- some of the Oscar noms we're really excited to see, while others ... well, we're pretty sure we'll forget the moment they step off camera. Check out some of our predictions in the gallery below, and let us know whether you agree or disagree!

Oscar Predictions

Most likely to disappoint -- Anne Hathaway
We couldn't get enough of her look at last year's Academy Awards -- she really helped to set the one-shoulder trend. But she's been so hit or miss since then, that while we're hoping for something new! and exciting! and different!, we're pretty sure she's going to show up with her hair slicked back in something with a lot going on, but without a lot of style.

    Getty Images

Most likely to elicit a yawn -- Angelina Jolie
If we looked like Angie, we would wear nothing but the most amazingly beautiful gowns. However, lately, the best looking thing she's had on has been Brad Pitt. We'd love to see her glam it up, but probably, she'll go with a neutral dress in a dull cut. Maybe Ryan Seacrest will chase after the golden couple, though -- that's at least interesting.

    Getty Images

Most likely to be NOTHING like the character she's nominated for playing -- Amy Adams
We fell in LOVE with Amy at the 2008 Oscars -- that emerald green gown couldn't have been more perfect. We don't think she'll be able to top it, unfortunately, but we do think she'll go with a color. After all, she wore black to the Golden Globes, her character in Doubt wears all black ... we think she'll branch out and have a little fun.

    Getty Images

Most likely to go all out -- Penelope Cruz
She's definitely a red carpet favorite for her daring fashion sense -- it typically works for her. She's been boring us a bit as of late, but the Oscars are going to be her chance to shine again. Who can forget that amazing gown from last year? Nobody's ever worn feathers so well. What'll it be this year?

    Getty Images

Most likely to be on everyone's Best Dressed list -- Kate Winslet
Very rarely does Kate Winslet make a Worst Dressed list, true. However, she's not exactly the risk-taker that P.Cruz is. Kate is a favorite to win the Best Actress in a Leading Role category for The Reader, and she's our favorite to reign this year's red carpet.

    Getty Images

Most likely to cause excitement -- Mickey Rourke
No surprises here. We simply cannot wait to see what outfit he puts together, and we're really hoping for some fun interviews. Maybe they can put him and fellow nominee Robert Downey, Jr. together and see what kind of crazy comes out.

Celebrity McCain supporters - why won't they show the love?

It would be easier to find Waldo in a sea of clones than a McCain/Palin t-Shirt on the back of a fashion-forward celebrity (trust us, we looked -- and the options were slim to none!). Of course, there was Elizabeth Hasselbeck in her bright red "AmeriCaine" tee and the vocally-Republican Hollywood lovebirds Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt -- who were spotted in McCain/Palin shirts.

Is Britney coming back, or just as crazy?

Sure, her music career may have all but fallen off the map, and she went kinda nuts after having a couple children with that sleazy back-up dancer -- but Britney Spears is making a comeback.

She's been lip syncing to performing her old material at clubs around the country, promoting a new fragrance, and promises to have cleaned up after that unfortunate, bald-headed trip to rehab.

But is it only a matter of time before Brit self-destructs again?

At a recent photo shoot for her new perfume, "She got very upset and stormed out and wouldn't come back," a source tells the NY Post's Page Six. Apparently the former pop icon is "taking control of her life," but has gone completely overboard, "not listening to anyone and doing exactly what she wants."

None of this makes it seem like a comeback is in the cards. However, a different source -- completely unrelated to either Britney or her record label -- claims there are at least "four definite hits on the next album." So maybe, if she can keep from imploding until the new album is released, Brit might just have a second shot at stardom.

George W. Bush caught wearing Crocs

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Celebrities with Style

Love him or hate him, there's one thing we can all agree on when it comes to President Bush: he is not a fashionable man. So, now that the commander-in-chief has been caught wearing Crocs, can we officially declare these sandals as the ugliest pieces of footwear on the planet?

What's odd, is that it's not like Mr. Bush just ran out of the house without thinking about what he was wearing. The hat, shorts, socks and shirts all match -- perfectly. I think they're even the same shades of gray and black. So why, with all that forethought and preparation, would a person ever choose such hideous shoes?

According to Manolo -- the Internet's foremost shoe blogger -- this is grounds for impeachment. I'm not saying I agree, but -- given this egregious fashion faux pas -- it should certainly be taken under consideration.

Think that's weird? Check out the rest of our posts about Crocs, and how Crocs are taking it to the next level.

Britney goes neck brace chic

Britney Spears never fails to entertain with her wacky fashion antics. After her rodeo hooker outfit didn't pan out, the star appears to have transitioned into something subtler -- accident victim.

Pretty random. Pretty dumb looking.

But apparently no matter how odd Britney dresses, someone, somewhere will think it's cool and try to copy her. Just take a look at Gemma Atkinson, a British celebrity who thought she'd give neckwear a try.

Did some rumor sweep through celebrity circles about the dangers of exposing your neck to sunlight? Or is this an honest-to-goodness trend?

Whatever the case, we all know who really introduced the world to neck brace chic -- Joan Cusack in 16 Candles. Now that was cool.

Jessica Simpson to sell more stuff

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

For all of you who -- for whatever reason -- can't seem to get enough of Jessica Simpson, you're in luck. The singer is apparently planning on expanding her range of products to include sunglasses, swimwear and lingerie.

While she will undoubtedly sell countless bras, bikinis, and so on, I have to admit, this isn't exactly exciting news for the fashion world. I have a feeling that, like her unfortunate footwear collection, the new products will be pink, bland, and lame -- targeted at pop-tastic tweens that don't know any better.

Especially now that she's dating John Mayer, I'd say Simpson has some cred in that arena -- or at least the envy of junior high girls everywhere.

I appreciate that some celebrities are actually interested in fashion, but when even poorly dressed famous people like Jessica Simpson start cashing in, it's time for the madness to stop.

The trash bag look strikes again

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

As if Chanel's ridiculous $1,000 trash bag wasn't terrible enough, the Hefty look seems to have evolved into a wearable form... a wearable, furry form, no less. X17 has some photos of Ashley Olsen out-and-about the town, wearing this scary, shapeless mass. You'd think by now, the fashionistas of Hollywood would have learned that buying anything made of black and super-shiny material deserves a second thought prior to purchasing.

And, goodness, what kind of poor animal had to die for that furry faux pas?
