Tatjana Patitz PSA for Orangutan Outreach

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Style for a Cause

Just a couple of weeks ago we read a Jezebel post wondering what ever happened to Tatjana Patitz, one of only five models -- the others were household names Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford -- to appear on the cover of Vogue in 1990. So her name was on the tip of our tongue when we saw this (heartbreaking) PSA for Orangutan Outreach, a non-profit that works to save the critically endangered "red ape".

Christy Turlington: Contributing Editor of Marie Claire

Filed under: Style in the News

It's official: the only way to push products in the fashion industry is with the help of a 90s supermodel.

Not only have they scooped up practically all of the coveted spring '09 fashion campaigns, but they are also making waves on the other side of the camera as well. Stephanie Seymour was given the title of "editor-at-large" over at the recently revamped Interview magazine and, now, the other George Michael Freedom video star, Christy Turlington, is rolling up her sleeves and working as a contributing editor over at Marie Claire.

Would you pay $30,000 for Bono's, um, trash?

One man's trash is another man's...well, you get it. But $30,000 seems a little excessive for a wastebasket, no?

This week Danish supermodel Helena Christensen held a star-studded auction that raised over $50,000 for Food Bank For New York City and Chernobyl Children's Project International. The highlight of the evening was the live auction of a custom Vipp (the venerable Danish design company) bin by U2 frontman Bono which sold for--yes--$30K.

But, get this: Inside the "circular file" are unpublished lyrics from U2's upcoming album, including a tribute to Nelson Mandela on this 90th birthday. Hello!! Talk about a good investment. I asked Helena how she convinced Bono to donate something so valuable. "I got him drunk," she laughed.

Other participants in the auction included REM's Michael Stipe, Julianne Moore, Christy Turlington, Mena Suvari, and Frederic Fekkai.

Frances Cobain for Chanel, maybe

Filed under: Style in the News

Earlier this year, media stories from the UK suggested that Gisele Bundchen was creating a $200 million diffusion line with Dolce & Gabbana and Katie Holmes was creating three outstanding collections for Giorgio Armani.

Both reports ended up being completely false. So, we're aren't going to hold our breath on this most recent extraordinary story from UK.

For a few months now, rumors have been flying around the Internet that Frances Cobain -- the daughter of the late Kurt Cobain, frontman for Nirvana -- would be the next Chanel campaign girl.
