Celebs Bare All for Magazines

Heidi Klum's in nothing but her birthday suit for the March issue of German GQ. Fortunately her hubby Seal isn't the jealous type -- according to Heidi he's seen the photos and "loves them."

    GQ

Kate Hudson recently revealed that she loves posing for provocative photo shoots -- but the sultry starlet certainly isn't the only celeb who's willing to bare all for a magazine cover.

    InStyle

    Jennifer Aniston for GQ
Was her ultra-revealing cover stunning or sad? Find out!

    GQ

    Eva Mendes for Jane
The actress isn't bashful about showing a little skin (just look at these steamy Calvin Klein ads!).

    Jane

    Britney Spears for Bazaar
Showing off her hot pregnant bod, back when we thought there might be hope for her and K-Fed.

    Bazaar

    Britney Spears for Rolling Stone
But of course, Brit was happy to bare all before she was ready to bare children.

    Rolling Stone

    Christina Aguilera
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

    Marie Claire

    Demi Moore for Vanity Fair
And before Britney and Christina were competing with pregnant poses in their birthday suits, Demi Moore graced the cover of Vanity Fair in nothing but her wedding ring (and some nice earrings!).

    Vanity Fair

    Lindsay Lohan for Entertainment magazine
Back when it was plausible that she might turn out sane.

    Mariah Carey for Interview
    Still looking great at 38!

    Interview

Claudia Schiffer might be nearly 40 years old (well, she's 38), but she has a body that many women half her age would envy. What, you're not jealous? You will be when you hear this -- in an interview with Vogue, she says that it's hard for her to even keep this much weight on, and she "can't miss a single meal."

Claudia Schiffer topless in Vogue Germany

Seems like there's a new celebrity trend afoot: going topless for Vogue! Just last week word broke that Eva Mendes would be appearing semi-clothed (and weird looking) in this month's Vogue Italia, and today we learn that Claudia Schiffer will be baring all (or at least most) for Vogue Germany.

Not that posing sans-clothing is anything new for celebrities, but the recent rash of nudie portraits for Vogue in particular has us wondering: is naked the new black? How long before we see C-List celebs trying to keep up by taking it off for lesser known mags? Can we expect to see Courtney Love or Britney Spears reviving their fledgling careers by posing for Mirabella?

Let's hope not. Fingers crossed, this mysterious new trend will die out before it jumps the shark.

Frances Cobain for Chanel, maybe

Filed under: Style in the News

Earlier this year, media stories from the UK suggested that Gisele Bundchen was creating a $200 million diffusion line with Dolce & Gabbana and Katie Holmes was creating three outstanding collections for Giorgio Armani.

Both reports ended up being completely false. So, we're aren't going to hold our breath on this most recent extraordinary story from UK.

For a few months now, rumors have been flying around the Internet that Frances Cobain -- the daughter of the late Kurt Cobain, frontman for Nirvana -- would be the next Chanel campaign girl.

Mariah Carey gets naked for a magazine cover -- when will it stop?

Mariah gets nakedSince when did every celebrity who gives an interview for a magazine have to get naked for the cover? And when was the last time anyone wanted to see Mariah Carey without her clothes on? Weren't we over that back in the 90s?

We may never have the answers to these pressing questions, but regardless, Mariah Carey is following in the footsteps of Claudia Schiffer, the Beckhams, and Tom and Katie (if the rumors are to be believed), by doing a nudie shoot for a magazine cover.

The only difference is that while Claudia and the Becks posed for big hitters like Vogue and W magazine, Mariah is appearing on the cover of Interview -- which looks incredibly desperate slightly less glamorous.

Oh, Mariah. Just let it go.

Claudia Schiffer gettin' naked for Paris Vogue

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Celebrities with Style

Where has Claudia Schiffer been? She was on over 500 magazine covers, was a world famous supermodel, and then poof -- she disappeared.

Fortunately, however, it appears that she's now back with a vengeance -- and it was worth the wait.

Schiffer not only appears in the August issue of Paris Vogue (sans clothing), she's right there on the cover, looking as good as ever. Obviously, given the fact that nearly every decent-looking photo in magazines seems to be Photoshopped to death, it's probable that the nearly 40-year-old Claudia you'll see on the pages of Vogue isn't exactly like the Claudia you'd meet in real life.

That aside, she looks fantastic -- go Claudia!

News flash: women get better with age

Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Believe it or not, hater extraordinaire Karl Lagerfeld has something nice to say. If you know anything about Karl Lagerfeld you'll know that he is not one for blowing smoke up someone's, well, you know what (he once said models weren't anorexic, but had skinny bones; he also criticized the city of Paris for its lack of verve; he's currently suing writer Alicia Drake for her book The Beautiful Fall).

In a moment of unbridled generosity, Kaiser Karl told WWD that he thought supermodels actually got better with age. His proof? Lagerfeld recently photographed Claudia Schiffer for a Dom Pérignon campaign. Of the experience, he said, "She was younger, fresher and more professional than ever. She was a dream to work with."

FINALLY someone in the fashion industry realized that women -- not 18 year-olds -- are where it's at.

Claudia Schiffer speaks out against skinny models

1990s supermodel Claudia Schiffer has spoken out about today's bone-thin models. "It doesn't really look good any more," Schiffer, 36, said in Germany's Bunte magazine according to Reuters. She acknowledged that fashion looks good on thin models but that today's models are just too bony to be attractive. Starting out, the German model was one of the curvier models but she has lost weight after having her two children and now eats chocolate and drinks whole milk to retain her figure.

Claudia's comments come after months of controversy regarding the super-thin models on catwalks worldwide. The models were banned in Milan and Madrid and there has been a lot of discussion regarding how thin is too thin for models. Recently when I was at fashion week I was waiting in line with a woman whose daughter was walking in one of the shows. She mentioned that her daughter had recently been in Paris and had been told by one of the designers that she needed to lose a half-inch of her hips. Her mother told me that her daughter didn't quite see how that would be possible given that she is 5'11" and weighs 115 lbs. While according to her mother, this girl just has lucky genetics, it seems to me that taking the naturally thin and making them even thinner is a sign that models really are too emaciated lately. I applaud Claudia's comments on bringing a little more meat back to the runway.
