One Dress, Many Looks - Black on Black

We've been showing you ways to stretch your glamour dollars by accessorizing that little black dress that's already hanging in your closet. Don't you love how adding a little sparkle or a bit of golden warmth can take you LBD to the next level?

Today's look is anything but basic: Black on black (with a touch of color!) will add a lot of style to your dress, and as an added bonus the accessories will match with everything else that's in your closet. That's what we call a win-win.

Just because your accessories are black doesn't meant that they need to be boring. In fact, the key to pulling off this monochromatic look is to find accessories that pop out on their own - maybe it's the shape, or the size. For example, this organza headwrap or these black earrings will certainly pop.

Have fun accessorizing!

Dress of the day - Buttercup by Simple Silhouettes

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

Sometimes a well-constructed but "simple" dress is all you need to glam it up. This design by Simple Silhouettes in cement grey satin is a timeless piece that you can make your own with a few accessories. Pair it with glittering jewelry - like a tennis bracelet and diamond studs - for an upscale look; or add pearls and a cardigan if you're looking for something more preppy. An interesting brooch or tying a scarf at the waist would dramatically alter the look - the possibilities are endless! Every closet needs a piece like this - and it doesn't have to be black to be versatile.

If shoppin' Juniors is wrong, I don't wanna be right

Filed under: Holiday Style, Clothing, Dresses

I am a 25-year-old woman with a job, a home and a 401K. Having said all of that, I still can't keep my greedy hands out of the Juniors department at Target. The stuff is really cute, really cheap, and it fits me. Why should I deny myself?

For obvious reasons, I feel guilty about this habit. When I buy Juniors, something inside tells me that there's a nice 15-year-old girl out there who will have to go without that plucky little dress because I'm older, faster and have more disposable income.

But that's just your tough luck, sweetie, because I've got my eye on the Fire Satin-Pleated Bodice Dress($29.99). Put this satin-pleated dress on a real body (not some stick-figure model with no boobs) and it would be -- to quote Tyra Banks -- totally fierce.

Didn't someone once say that being savvy with money is a sign of maturity?
