Coco & ScarJo Break the Red Rules

Filed under: Red Carpet Trends, Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

For years redheads have been told to avoid fashion and makeup in bright shades of red, coral and pink.

Well, look who's proving the experts wrong.

Coco Rocha (at last night's annual New Yorkers For Children Spring Gala) and ScarJo (at Paris Fashion Week) bucked this staid advice and donned radiant red lip color despite their fiery locks. And don't they look fierce?

So what if both are newbies to the redhead club - we think is a trend in the making. Don't you just love when the style gurus get it wrong? I do, because it means I have license to shake things up and try verboten beauty moves, instead of my usual (read: boring) pink gloss, black mascara and shimmery beige shadow.

I'm thinking cherry red lips and major black liner tonight -- watch out Glamour Do's and Don'ts!

A Model Fight Breaks Out at the Jean Paul Gaultier Show

Filed under: Style in the News

The last time we saw a really, really good fashion fight was back when Tyra Banks passive aggressively chewed out Naomi Campbell on her daytime talk show for torturing her as a young and upcoming model. However, we're thinking the brawl that took place this past weekend at Paris Fashion Week may just take the cake. Even if it was totally staged.

The Life & Times of Coco Rocha

Filed under: Style in the News

Coco Rocha has come a long way since she found herself Irish gigging down the Jean Paul Gaultier runway a couple of seasons ago. In a time in fashion where fresh faced models are just as easily forgotten as what they've been eating, Coco has managed to navigate this picky industry and transform herself into a very hot commodity.

Just ask Anna Wintour. The editor-in-chief has put the Canadian in practically every issue of Vogue since Coco's first appearance back in 2006. So, it shouldn't come as a surprise that Style.com, Vogue's online home, has just created a web series that will follow Coco as she tries to survive her cross country trek for Fashion Week.

In the first part, watch as Coco plays with a casting director and explains how one can walk away with nice designer pieces after the show. Watch and learn.

Coco Rocha - Undead StyleFoul!

We don't mean to go after two Cocos in the same week, but what can we do? We blame it on the Coco Chanel movie on Lifetime this past weekend.

It really pains us to call out Coco Rocha -- most of the time, she is the epitome of what our grandfather would call "a real looker," and she usually makes it look so effortless. And, we love the fact that she has spoken out against eating disorders in the modeling industry, which leads us to believe she's probably a smart, confident, cool girl in real life.

Top model Coco Rocha admits to taking diuretics

Filed under: Style in the News

Stories like this make us sick -- not as sick as the models, though. Coco Rocha attended the CFDA conference on "The Beauty of Health," which was held to address problems with eating disorders in the fashion industry. While there she spoke out about the pressure to lose weight and how it drove her to take diuretics, amongst other unhealthy things she did to her body.

Coco Rocha speaks out against using anorexic models

Filed under: Style in the News

Several models have spoken out against the deadly industry standard of using girls for runway shows that are dangerously thin -- among them are ladies like Ali Michael and Natalia Vodianova. But, after they spoke out, critics accused them of saying something only because their careers were on the brink of extinction. This is not so in Coco Rocha's case.

Supermodel Coco Rocha's jig

If there is one thing we know about Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, it's the fact that she loves herself some Coco Rocha.

Driving Coco Rocha

Once upon a time, supermodels ruled the world. Known only by their first names, Naomi, Linda, Christy, Cindy, and Claudia were catwalk queens. They all had killer bodies, rock star boyfriends, major attitudes, and the hearts of everyone in the fashion industry.

Then one day it all changed.

Linda Evangilista was quoted as saying she wouldn't get out of bed for less than ten thousand dollars, and it was all down hill from there: Drug habits forced some of the supermodels into rehab and then there was that whole heroin-chic thing a la Kate Moss, which meant the curvy figures of Naomi and Cindy were no longer in fashion.

The era of the Supers was officially over.

With that, here is a video from Style.com of "supermodel" Coco Rocha. The crew followed the Irish-dancing Canadian around while she was at Paris fashion week.

Since no one knows her outside of fashion, it's a bit of a stretch to call her a supermodel. But since she is so adorable in this clip, I'll let her keep the title uncontested for now.
