ruby cocktail ringOne supremely simple way to take your outfit from fine to festively fab is with jewelry -- we're sure you know this already. And, as you also know, we don't think all jewelry has to be "real." If it sparkles and it's on us, it's real enough.

Must have bling of the day: ASOS spike bracelet

Filed under: Accessories, Steals and Deals, Must Haves

We loved the jewelry Robert Lee Smith designed for Mary Kate and Ashley's clothing line Elizabeth and James...especially the dagger necklace. But at $525, it's a bit much to spend on a piece of costume jewelry.

Must have bling of the day: Ambush's Beeeeethoven ring

Japanese line Ambush doesn't take itself too seriously, as evidenced by their highly amusing Bheeeeetoven collection (yes, spelled like that) currently available at Frution in Las Vegas and online. Precious & Rare Pieces: one-of-a-kind antique jewelry

Filed under: Stores We Love, Accessories, Vintage and Retro

Jewelry, like a car or a house, is an investment. Which is why it's so important that it stands the test of time. Sophie Aarons' online shop, Precious and Rare Pieces, offers dozens of items that fit that bill.

Aarons, a second-generation antiques dealer, carries an impressive collection of estate and vintage baubles, from Georgian-era jewelry to vintage David Yurman pieces. I first heard about the site from a friend-of-a-friend, and quickly realized that I'd been let in on a great secret.

My favorite item for sale is this 1920s engagement ring, featuring a .87 carat diamond surrounded by a white-gold filigree. Good luck finding a stunner like that in a modern, mega-jeweler's showroom.
