Charlize Theron in Dior - I Want That!

Charlize TheronCharlize Theron accompanied her go to guy, John Galliano, to the Christian Dior & Chinese Artists party. She should probably make a pact with herself that she will wear nothing but Dior 24 hours a day 7 days a week for the rest of her life. And oh my god isn't John Galliano awesome? What other guy can pull of man boobs with such elegance?

The best shoes from Paris and Milan

Shoes, shoes and more glorious shoes! The best part about fashion week for us isn't the glamorous clothes or the celebritiy sightings -- it's the footwear.

Dior's star studded front row

At some fashion shows, front row watching is way more interesting than anything coming down the runway. Although that's not true in Dior's case because the clothes were beautiful too, the event did draw a varied crowd of celebs.

Dior launches luxury $5,000 mobile phone

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

Joining the Chanel fishing rod, and the diamond-studded digital camera on the list of ridiculously overpriced luxury goods that do nothing special at all, Dior has unveiled its $5,000 MyDior cellphone. Dior's luxury phone boasts a touch screen, camera, and a Swarovski crystal face plate. Apparently, the phone is targeted specifically for the Russian and Chinese markets (where people throw away their hard-earned money?).

Dior is teaming up with French tech firm ModeLabs Group to produce the couture handset, of which they expect to sell 10,000. Wow -- that's an easy $50M. Aside from Swarovski face plate -- which we agree is a nice touch -- the My Dior phone only offers one other unique feature: a tiny micro-phone that allows you to leave the Swarovski-studded handset in your pocket. We have no idea why you'd want to leave a $5,000 designer phone in your purse/pocket. Think we'll stick with the technically superior and less expensive status symbol -- the iPhone.

Lucy Sykes sundresses for girls

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Dresses, Kids and Babies

At some point this summer, there will be a family reunion, wedding or christening. If the good news is that kids are invited, but the bad news is the idea of an itchy, stiff dress turning your little princess into a monster, then check out Lucy Sykes New York, and all the pretty sundresses.

Beautiful prints, lightweight cotton, and, for a special party dress, fairly reasonable prices -- certainly under $100. It's not Target, but it's also not Dior. The dresses have a classic shape, with twirly skirts and enough ruffles to be festive without looking like a square dancing costume. They are also refreshingly free of glitter or other Bratz-like flair.

Sykes and her doubtlessly beautiful family -- including sons Titus and Heathcliff -- spend weekends in the Hamptons and jet around the world to Paris, Milan and London. Lucy tries to infuse her dresses with the spirit of these places. We're not sure if she succeeds, but we can definitely imagine them on some little girls we know, playing tag while the grown ups sip celebratory cocktails. Now that's a summer party.

Ridiculously costly designer baby gifts

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Kids and Babies

What recession? You'd never know the country is in belt tightening mode by looking at the children's departments of upscale stores like Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus. With designer names and totally impractical materials -- silk? cashmere? for a baby? -- the racks are full of high fashion and high prices.

We suspect that Suri Cruise is somehow to blame. Talk about the child most likely to become Claire, Molly Ringwald's character in The Breakfast Club, who got detention for skipping school to go shopping. Perfectly coiffed and dressed, she has a wardrobe full of Cavalli, Dior and Burberry. And she's just turned two. We can only imagine what she'll be wearing at 16.

Celebs attend Dior '09 Spring Summer Haute Couture fashion show

Yes, the fashion and celebrity world are still intrinsically linked. Major designers never fail to bring out major A-listers. For Paris Fashion Week '09 Haute Couture, Dior, of course, was a heavy hitter.

Yoox.com's vintage Dior sale

No, this post is about another cool way to get chic and ethical clothing: buying vintage.

Hello Kitty models for John Galliano for Dior

Japanese Vogue is sidesteping the recent controversies over too young or too thin models and going straight to animation.

Reuters reports that the June issue will showcase the popular - and fashionable - Hello Kitty wearing items from the fall and winter John Galliano for Dior line.

Our only question is why did it take this long? Hello Kitty is everywhere!

A machine-washable evening gown, what every woman needs

Last year, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual gala, I got into a huge fight with supermodel Gisele Bundchen. The Brazilian bombshell thought I was trying to make a move on her man, Tom Brady. Things got heated quickly, and the 5'11 stunner hurled red wine in my direction -- completely ruining my vintage Dior couture gown. Upset and embarrassed, I fled back to Texas -- never to return to New York again.

Syke! But if I did get into a fierce catfight like the one I just made up, I hope I'm wearing a beautiful Sara Berman evening gown.

Chichi vs. Simple: Black liquid liner dilemma

My sister swears by this fancy Dior Style Liner and badgered me to try it during a recent visit. The tiny silver pot is delicate and pretty and it made a rich, sooty black line on her. One trip to Sephora and $30 later, I was in the club.

So, 30 bucks for .08 ounces, that must have been some liner gold, right? Well...yes and no.

Shoes of the Day: Miss Dior Beige Patent Peep Toe Pumps

jessica simpson in miss dior peep toe pumps
We've been presenting you with a Dress of the Day here at Styledash, but you can't rock a smart little dress barefoot! Starting now, we'll also bring you a pair of shoes each day, sometimes fun, sometimes, smart, always stylish.

Surprisingly, Jessica Simpson isn't mad about shoes from her own line (and I'm sure I've seen a pair from her line that look exactly like the ones she's wearing), but I wouldn't be either if I got my hands on a pair of Christian Dior Miss Dior peep-toe pumps in nude beige. Nude colored shoes work wonders at creating the illusion of legs that are three miles long, and the platform style adds height overall. The shoes are >$515 at eLuxury.

Shoe porn: Blue suede shoes

V Magazine has a very interesting spread on their site that they are calling Foot Fetish. This spread is basically a bunch of hot babes stuffed inside even hotter pairs of shoes. This was actually the only photo that didn't have a breast or an entire booty showing so I figured I would take this opportunity to talk about an emerging trend, blue shoes.

Christian Louboutin tried his hand at blue shoes (and failed). Where Christian Dior (shoes pictured) has a winner on his hands. No matter what your taste is, (perhaps both of these high fashion shoes are fugly to you) once the top designers get their hands on a trend it is bound to trickle down to the masses.

There is something about a pair of blue shoes that gives you permission to act out. They defy all things conventional when it comes to shoes. A closet can technically go without a pair of blue shoes, yet when you wear them you feel unstoppable and wonder why you didn't get a pair sooner. My fashion crystal ball is telling me that blue shoes will soon replace the 'go-to red shoes' this coming fall. Wear a pair of blue shoes with a boring monocromatic ensemble or really shock them and wear them with a colorful dress that only has a hint of blue.

Underage boy is new face of Versace

Filed under: Style in the News, Kids and Babies

The fashion industry is obsessed with youth, which is why it's not uncommon to see girls as young as 14 modeling for Dior, YSL, and other major brands -- but it's not often that the industry uses underage boys.

That's why Tuki Brando, the new face of Versace, is such a surprise. At 16-years-old, the high school student will soon be a fashion icon. While he's certainly no stranger to the fashion world and entertainment industry -- he's the grandson of Marlon Brando, and son of a former model -- he's still really young.

Style blog Fashionista thinks he's an attractive choice, but asks: "...will he entice grown men to buy into the Versace brand?" And they have a point. For better or for worse, youth, femininity, and beauty are often synonymous in women's fashion -- but the same doesn't necessarily hold true for men. I certainly wouldn't be interested in clothing that's trying to make me look like an effeminate teenager, and I'd be surprised if other men didn't feel the same.
