Filed under: Style in the News, Style Tip of the Day

We've all seen the art inspired abstract prints that are a key trend this summer. What we bet you didn't know was that the look is also an easy DIY project. Instead of shelling out a cool thousand for a D & G dress, why not do one just as fabulous yourself?

Here's what to arm yourself with:

Tip of the day: Dip dye, ombre... whatever you want to call it

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

After ombre was shown at Prada's 2007 fall show, lovelies like Ali Carter, Paris Hilton, and Thandi Newton ate the trend up. For spring 2008, many other designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Giles, and Adam + Eve followed suit in lighter and brighter colors.

A few tips to follow up with and you'll be ombre-tastic in minutes.

Project Runway's Knight gets, um, classy

Filed under: Style in the News, Swimwear and Lingerie

Michael Knight's workDesigner Michael Knight was easily one of the top favorites of the last season of Project Runway, but we have seen or heard much from him since the finale. Tim Gunn made an appearance at the Baltimore Book Festival (read more about that here) and shared the weird news that Knight has actually decided to launch a fragrance before a clothing line. A bit backwards, no?

Well, now there's even more weird news. Knight has decided to start up a lingerie line called Kitty & Dick and, to be honest, I don't think he's worked to his full potential. A group of "performance artists" called Kitty's Litter have formed to promote the intimate apparel line and apparently Knight has described them as "The Pussycat Dolls, meets Victoria's Secret's Angels, meets The Fly Girls." Scary? Yes.

The clothes look like a cross between American Apparel bargain bin business and BET video girl rejects' wardrobes. Come on, Michael Knight, you can do so much better.

Malkovich gives up on fashion line

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

John Malkovich is one of the defining male actors of the 20th century -- creating riveting characters on both stage and screen over a career of inspired performances.

But he's not a good fashion designer, apparently.

Or, at least, he isn't willing to stick it out to see where the fashion business could take him. After only 4 years, the star has abandoned his clothing line, Mrs. Mudd, vowing to instead focus solely on his acting career.

To be honest, I didn't even know Malkovich had designed a collection in the first place (and maybe this is part of the problem), but after hearing the news I checked out the website, and it's not half bad. It's nothing mind-blowing, nor is it really my style, but the clothing is original, sophisticated and interesting. Imagine if J. Crew didn't suck, and you'll have the right image.

If it seems like your thing, head to the website quick! Sounds like these items won't be around for much longer.
