Hey, Grace, don't yell at us. We had nothing to do with any of this. If your gigantic fur coat is too hot, or if you're having trouble seeing Daniel Craig as well as you'd like due to headdress slippage, we are not to blame.

Did Lindsay Lohan steal an $11,000 fur coat?

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Daily Obsession

Yeah, probably. But this is still technically an "accusation," so there's no official word on whether or not the new Ugly Betty guest star will be spending time behind bars.

Our favorite part of this story is that LiLo didn't "accidentally" walk out with this from some ritzy Beverly Hills boutique. Instead she ripped off the coat from some woman she was partying with.

New York Trendspotting: Real women wear fur

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Clothing, Fashion Week

FashionKitty's
I noticed something while I was in New York covering Fashion Week -- all of the fabulous women were wearing fur. Seriously, you could tell the rich from the poor just by looking at their coats, although their $800 shoes were pretty revealing too. It made me green with envy. I had never in my life wanted a fur coat but suddenly after being so close to them I started to realize what the big deal was all about.

Fur coats are an instant way to chicify your look but buying new fur can be quite expensive. So for me, the best option for purchasing fur is buying it vintage, which seems much more human anyway (twisted reasoning, sure).

Here are some tips for buying vintage fur:

1.) Buy a modern silhouette- You don't want to look like Cruella de Ville with a tacky fur coat down to your ankles do you? Check out what is "in" for today's furs and try to find a vintage piece to match.

2.) Buy from a reputable vintage shop- If you go to any random shop you might end up with a fur that wasn't cared for properly, which for you would wind up being a waste of money. Good vintage shop owners are particular about the pieces they choose and they only take the best.

3.) Wear it with pride- Don't let any fur haters get you down! It's your coat and you spent your money on it -- those PETA meanies need to mind their own business.

Styles that Stick: Fur

Filed under: Clothing, Vintage and Retro

anna wintour fur coatFur gets a bad rap from activists and animal lovers alike, but that hasn't slowed fur down one bit. No matter how much "blood" gets thrown on them by angry PETA protesters, fur coats will never go out of style.

Fur coats and their other fashionable counterparts have been associated with wealth, class, and success for centuries. Fur was first used in prehistoric times for obvious reasons like warmth and protection – but they were also used for fashion and adornment. During the Middle Ages fur was used mainly for fashion purposes and was seen as a symbol for wealth and class affiliation. In those times fur was being used for coats, shawls, cuffs, and even on the hems of gowns.

Today luxury labels like Dior, Fendi and Gucci use fur in their designs, and we all know what class of women can afford those. For those of us who want the look of fur without harming animals or paying the massive price tag, there are plenty of "faux" choices out there for us that look pretty darn real. One of my favorites is this faux fur swing coat from Juicy Couture.
