Harper's Bazaar UK releases second Swarovski studded cover

Filed under: Style in the News

Swarovski crystal is having a pretty noteworthy month here on StyleList, first Annie found this outrageous piece of crystal-encrusted luggage, and now this. Apparently, Swarovski has made a deal with Harper's Bazaar to feature small crystals arranged into stars on their November cover. They have done a crystal-studded cover before -- back in September of last year. This year, in honor of the financial meltdown of 2008 they're doing it again.

Elliot Spitzer does Harper's Bazaar, kind of

Filed under: Style in the News

Much like the epic Italian Vogue issue that starred supermodel Linda Evangalista and highlighted America's addiction with plastic surgery, Harper's Bazaar is now using its pages to make a sort of statement about our society.

Just in case you need a re-cap (as if anyone could forget that easily), former New York Governor Elliot Spitzer had to retire two months ago for patronizing a high-priced prostitution service called Emperors Club.

And to immortalize such a scandalous event, the Hearst publication has tapped 90s supermodel Eva Herzigova as the troubled governor's wife and wrangled in a dirty politician dopplegänger to star in a fabulously styled Spitzer spoof. At the end of the spread, Herzigova leaves her super trifling husband for a younger and more attractive man. Oh, if only life could imitate art this time.

Sarah Larson strikes a pose for Harper's Bazaar

Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Sara Larson: model, reality star, and former waitress. But more importantly, she is the beautiful girlfriend of George Clooney. But we're sure she is super talented and her mini profile in the June issue of Bazaar was strictly based on the merits of her accomplishments. Riiiiight.

On how she began her relationshop with the gorgeous man, Larson tells the mag: "I got texts, and we just started talking. George is funny and sweet, and he's good to be around. I see him as a normal person, like anyone else. He just happens to have a well-known face."

We give it 6 months before she lands on the cover of GQ and/or a spread in Swimsuit Illustrated and drops a clothing line.

Lauren Conrad, you've got some competition.

The Simpsons go high fashion

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Finally, the celebrities you've always wanted to see dolled in high-dollar designer wares. In celebration of the upcoming release of the much-anticipated Simpsons movie, Homer, Marge, and the rest of the gang are appearing in the August issue of Harper's Bazaar -- decked in Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Versace.

Glenda Bailey, the magazine's editor-in-chief, commissioned Julius Preite (layout artist for The Simpsons) to illustrate the world's favorite animated family at a number of Fall Fashion Week shows -- drawn alongside cartoon versions fashion industry icons like Linda Evangelista, Karl Lagerfeld and Louis Vuitton.

It's now clear that the Simpson family have long been fooling the public, and beneath their unruly facade possess a grace, elegance, poise and charm rarely seen in bright-yellow toons. Bravo! Applause! Tres magnifique! Doh!
