A Keyboard for Blondes

Filed under: Accessories, Product Reviews, Daily Obsession, Must Haves

You're gonna love this. I'm a brunette, and I love it. Perhaps I love it more for that very reason. The bubble-gum pink keyboard you see above has keys such as "Yes! I Want It!" instead of enter/return and "WARNING: SIZE XXL LETTERS" instead of caps lock.

And such as

Elizabeth Hurley claims the leopard and cheetah print crown

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Celebrities with Style

It looked like Diablo Cody was the new Mrs. Robinson. Then we had Scary Spice and her "catty" couture. But those ladies need to step aside! Liz Hurley is in the house and we declare her the undisputed Queen of Cat Print.

You may be unfamiliar with Ms. Hurley's stunning line of leopard and and cheetah print beach wear. You read that right: leopard and cheetah. Because one big cat ain't enough for this cougar.

Haute Holiday Gift Guide: Fashionable Books

Filed under: Holiday Style, Books, Gift Guides

Reading is Fashionable
Nothing says winter like getting into your pajamas, sipping a cup of hot chocolate and curling up with a good book. Now fashion books are hotter than ever and there is a surplus of great reads out there. This gift list of books is perfect for you and the fashion fans on your holiday shopping list.

Die hard fashionista:
Try titles like Stylists, The Tom Ford Book, and the Dolce & Gabbana Fashion Album. These books are all beautifully illustrated and will be most appreciated by girls who read W and Vogue religiously.

Fun and fashionable girls: These girls love clothes but they aren't as hardcore as the die-hards mentioned above. For these girls go with titles like The Devil Wears Prada, Miss Understanding, 101 Things to Buy Before you Die, Smart Girls Like Me, and The Little Black Book of Style.

Love of learning fashionistas: These books are for the girls that love to study fashion inside and out: 9 Heads, Vintage Fashion, The End of Fashion, and The Little Dictionary of Fashion.

Haute Holiday Gift Guide: Luxury Gifts for Men

Spoiled Rotten: Luxury Gifts for Him

Most men couldn't tell the difference between a Bic disposable razor and a $650 Art of Shaving razor. Those are the same men that say, "Get me a pack of socks for Christmas." (I am familiar with that man because that man is my father). For these men who absolutely can tell the difference between a cheap razor and a luxury razor and only settle for the finer things in life ... this gift list is for them.

Fancy footwear: For the man who has almost as many pairs of shoes as you have in your closet, how about a pair of Skull Wing Tip shoes. After hours, let him slip into a pair of Velvet Dragon Evening shoes. For those of you who don't speak the language of "spoiled rotten," "evening shoes" is code for slippers.

Business time:
Most men I know carry everything they need in a wallet. How they do it, I don't know. For the men who wouldn't dream of such a thing, gift them with a $1,280 calfskin briefcase by Christian Dior. If a briefcase alone isn't enough, add this Gecko Letter Opener to his package and he will open your credit card statements with glee.

Status symbols:
Women have shoes and bags to show their status; men have cufflinks and watches to show theirs. This slick black watch by Christian Dior will certainly turn heads coming in at a whopping $3,950.00. And if $3,950.00 is a little too steep try these skull cufflinks for $375 at Nordstrom, which is equally impressive.

For the guy that has everything:
You can never go wrong with a great pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses or this fun poker set from Vivre.com ... men love stuff like that.

Haute Holidays Gift Guide: For the Girly Couture Kid

Filed under: Holiday Style, Kids and Babies, Gift Guides

Gifts for the Couture Kid: Girls

Kids are getting awfully stylish these days, they have it better than adults and certainly have it better than when I was a kid. Back then the closest thing to designers fashions that my closet saw where Osh Kosh and The Children's Place. Here are some gifting ideas for your couture kid.

Juicy Couture Girls Skull Watch: Want to know how much my watch costs? It costs $20. This children's watch by Juicy Couture is $95. No child of mine would ever have a watch more expensive than my own, it just wouldn't happen.

True Religion Kids Skinny Jeans: Let's mess with kids' body image when they are nice and young by forcing them to wear skinny jeans.

Pink Burberry Poncho:
Let your kid be rad in plaid with this pink Burberry poncho.

Lacoste Sneakers: When I was a kid I had velcro shoes from Kmart. Yes Kmart, can you believe it? These shoes are $50 from Lacoste and you can bet that your kid is going to grow out them in 2 weeks.

Mary Jane Socks: I wish it were acceptable for me to not wear shoes and instead wear socks that just looked like shoes. Life would be grand.

Juicy Couture "Mini Fluffy" Bag: What does a kid need a kid purse for? To carry their "kid" cell phone ... and their "kid" make up! Buy that kid a backpack for goodness sake so they can put some books in there. Books, what a concept huh kids?

Mini Mercedes:
You can't have your couture kid making a fool out of themselves riding a bike now can you? Put their spoiled behind the wheel.

Baby Daisy Headband: This $30 headband is cute. For me! Shame my big head won't fit into a baby's headband.
Seven for All Mankind Trench:
Who needs a ratty bubble jacket when you can outfit your tot in a sleek trench coat.

Haute Holiday Gift Guide: For the Celebrity Train Wreck, Britney Spears

Filed under: Holiday Style, Celebrities with Style, Gift Guides

Gifts for the Celebrity Train Wreck:Britney Spears

These days you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a celebrity train wreck. This gifting addition is for our favorite disaster, Britney Spears.

Gal Pal Retro Ice Bag: Crazy girls need to rest those crazy heads. This cute ice bag will do the trick for Brit when she is hungover from a night of popping pills and partying.

Primp Piggy Leggings: Britney Spears loves Primp clothing because the line is comfortable and casual. Perhaps these piggy leggings would be a nice addition to Brit's collection.

Spinning Decision Maker: The way Britney has been acting lately makes me think that she uses this device to make all of her big decisions like going to court, taking care of her kids, running red lights, getting dressed in the morning.

F*%$ Rehab Shirt: Britney's unspoken motto. This obnoxious tee shirt is part of everyone's favorite gossip queen's line, Perez Hilton.

Zagat To-Go Los Angeles 2008: This is the perfect gift for Britney. Now she can find out where all of the good restaurants are without picking up one of those fancy book things.

Starbucks Gift Card: Because foamy, whipped, sugary, caramel covered frozen drinks don't wrap very well.

Subscription to US Weekly: It is no secret that Britney loves the paparazzi. Give her the gift of gossip this holiday season with a year subscription of US Weekly.

Blow Pops 100 Pack:
When Britney doesn't have a cigarette, a cheeseburger, or a Starbucks frozen drink in her mouth – you will find that a lollipop is. A 100 pack of Blow Pops is an inexpensive gift and it should hold Britney over for at least a week.

Dita Cabaret Sunglasses: Spears can never leave the house without a pair of shades. She wears them during the day and she wears them at night (she's crazy like that). These provide great coverage and come in wide variety of colors.

Britney Spears- Oops I did it Again:
One of Britney's best albums, perhaps playing this CD for her will remind her of the good old days.

Haute Holiday Gift Guide: Gifts for the Celebrity Jailbird

Filed under: Holiday Style, Celebrities with Style, Style for a Cause, Gift Guides

Gifts for the Celebrity Jailbird
Getting locked up has never been so stylish. You've got the leader of the prison pack Paris Hilton, and both Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan have spent some time behind bars. The girls are all free (for now) but their prison attire is here to stay. Dressing in black and white is so chic this holiday season. Here are some stand-out pieces that our celebrity jailbirds should have in their closets:

L.A.M.B Frosted Love Satchel: Gwen Stefani's bags are becoming a must have in the celebrity world. This stylish black and white satchel will match practically everything in your closet.

Norma Kamali striped dress:
Comfort and style are the key words with this dress from Norma Kamali. Just throw it on with some knee high boots and the look is complete.

Omni Peace tee: Wearing this tee shirt is like doing community service without lifting a finger, as proceeds go towards ending poverty by 2025.

Santi jeweled clutch: Bling is back with this jeweled cover clucth, the perfect accessory for holiday parties.

Karta zig-zag dress: Instead of skippin the stuffing, wear this dress. The zig-zag design of this dress is slimming and elongating which makes this the perfect dress for the holiday season.

Christian Louboutin 'Bling Bling' platforms:
A fierce pair of shoes is a must have for the holiday party season. Just beware for those of you who live in colder climates, the peep toe might result in frostbite.

RM Rhea dress: This cute little number has pockets for all of your goodies -- cell phone, money, ID ... anything!

Vivienne Westwood striped cowl neck top: Stripes have never looked so good. Vivienne Westwood can take the simplest concept and make it completely unique.

Marc Jacobs pleated top: Pair this adorable top with black leggings and flats for a dressed up yet dressed down look.

Kenneth Jay Lane Cocktail ring: No holiday ensemble is complete without a cocktail ring. This crystal ball ring is gorgeous and pretty affordable at $98.00.

Seven Days of Style: Start your gift shopping a day early

Filed under: Holiday Style, Stores We Love, Men, Kids and Babies

gift guidesYou know it's coming. You can't avoid it. Or can you?

I am talking about "it" -- the chaos of crowds, the stress of finding "the perfect gift," and the inevitable spending over budget during the first day of Holiday Shopping hell, and you most certainly can avoid it by shopping online. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, that you can't buy online. Heck, if you can afford to buy someone a house for Christmas, you could get that online, too. Though we've already pointed you to some online stores before, here are seven places that have gift guides so you can not only avoid traffic jams, but let someone else provide your gifting inspiration. These will get you started, and of course, keep checking back to Styledash, as we'll have Gift Guides of our own over the next few weeks.

Sunday - Like every other department store that has an online presence, Neiman Marcus got their Holiday gift shopping guides up before we even had Halloween costumes on. However, we have ignored them until now, only because we couldn't bear the thought of Holiday shopping being "so over" by November. Neiman Marcus's guides are luxurious, no doubt, but they're smartly organized by unique recipients.

Monday - Gifts.com is perhaps the most interesting, and accurate way to shop for your friends and family. The site, which is not a store, but a guide, walks you through a series of quick questions in order to narrow down your recipient by gender, age, personality type, and interests, then comes back with a list of suggested gifts.

Tuesday - PersonalShopper.com is another site similar to Gifts.com in that it isn't a store. You select the recipient, and they list the gifts, e.g. For Your Soulmate, For The Perfect Hostess, and For the Sports Nut.

Wednesday - Men.style.com's Holiday Gift Guide isn't filled with gifts for men. It's for men to use as they shop for their girlfriends, wives, sisters, mothers, and others. The main list has 85 items, but there are shorter lists of bargains, as well as "25 Items That Should be on Your List."

Thursday - We definitely like those sites that aren't stores because we don't feel like we're "being sold." ThisNext.com has put together a place for users of its social shopping community to put together their own lists and share them with others. That way, you know the gifts are things that are useful to real people.

Friday - The fairy Godmother of all gifting sties, Red Envelope doesn't have gift guides because it is a gift guide. Enough said.

Saturday - Stylebakery's Gift Guides are a quick hit for the gifting gal. Their lists are broken down into "50 Under $50" (that's one that I like), The Lust List (the one I like even more), and one each For Him and For Babies.

BusinessWeek starts Holiday shopping early with hats and gloves

hats gloves and scarvesEvery year, you tell yourself you're going to start your holiday shopping early. How could you not, when stores and malls start decorating with tinsel and lights as early as...well, early October? You think I'm kidding? I went to the Beverly Center a few weeks ago and they had already begun the trappings of their "Winter Wonderland."

Styledash will certainly be on hand this season to help you find good stuff for your friends and family (and yourself along the way), but until we package everything up in a nice neat little post for you, BusinessWeek has gotten a jump start with some gift suggestions for the fashionista in your life. In fact, since 65% of gift-shopping this Holiday season will be clothing, the recipeient doesn't even have to be fashionista.

The first in their series focuses on something totally easy, and easy to find: a hat-gloves-scarf set. I like their recommendation for cashmere from Banana Republic, $48 for a pair of gloves. J.Crew also has a pair of cable-knit cashmere gloves in bright baby blue for $38.
