Michelle Pfeiffer Stuns on InStyle's July Cover. Just Don't Call Her a Cougar!

At the age of 51, Michelle Pfeiffer has every right to air her grievances regarding the "cougar" phenomenon.

Not so much the concept (as she most recently took a love interest 24 years her junior in the upcoming "Cheri," premiering later this month), but more the term itself. Pfeiffer explains in the July issue of InStyle magazine, "I so hate that term! Men are sugar daddies and women are cougars? Men are strong and women are bitches?"

And more on that young love interest? Pfeiffer details the exploits of romancing her much younger leading men: "It was a progression. Paul [Rudd] is 11 years younger. With Ashton [Kutcher, 20 years younger], I thought, I'm never going younger than this again...."

Rebecca Romijn's got it covered! Photo courtesy of InStyle

New mama Rebecca Romijn is InStyle's latest cover girl, and while she looks absolutely stunning, of course, it's the spread inside that's really special. Romijn poses with her twin daughters, Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip. In the accompanying interview, the star happily talks about her adorable babies, hottie husband and why she feels so darn sexy.

Romijn is hoping to share her sense of style with her daughters, acknowledging, "I know they're going to have a lot to say by the time they turn two, so until then I get to dress them however I want." She's loving Madonna's daughter, Lourdes' style, calling it 'new wave postmodern Punky Brewster geek chic.'"

How to Create Your Own Balmain-Style Jeans

Filed under: Clothing, Get the Look

Christophe Decarnin filled Balmain's spring '09 runway with models in jeans in various states of disrepair. Prices for the designer versions range from $1,900 (for a basic pair) to $4,400 (for an intricately embroidered, "very distressed" style). Inspired by their cool look, resourceful InStyle fashion assistant Katie Casamassimo took out her materials and tools (right) to make her own interpretation. Here's how:

Amanda Bynes in Sheri Bodell - I Want That!

Mix Your Makeup, Literally - Tip of the Day!

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day, Beauty Tips

Although we don't like to "copycat," a recent article in InStyle left us no choice. The article entitled "Mix Up Your Makeup" in the January issue put us in experimentation mode for days. Learn how you can, literally, muddle your makeup (ie: blend blush and balm for shimmery lip gloss) to create fresh, new palettes for spring.

Kate Hudson - Clothing Optional

Celebs Bare All for Magazines

Kate Hudson recently revealed that she loves posing for provocative photo shoots -- but the sultry starlet certainly isn't the only celeb who's willing to bare all a magazine cover.

    Jennifer Aniston for GQ
Was her ultra-revealing cover stunning or sad? Find out!

    Eva Mendes for Jane
The actress isn't bashful about showing a little skin (just look at these steamy Calvin Klein ads!).

    Britney Spears for Bazaar
Showing off her hot pregnant bod, back when we thought there might be hope for her and K-Fed.

    Britney Spears for Rolling Stone
But of course, Brit was happy to bare all before she was ready to bare children.

    Christina Aguilera
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

    Demi Moore for Vanity Fair
And before Britney and Christina were competing with pregnant poses in their birthday suits, Demi Moore graced the cover of Vanity Fair in nothing but her wedding ring (and some nice earrings!).

    Lindsay Lohan for Entertainment magazine
Back when it was plausible that she might turn out sane.

    Mariah Carey for Interview
    Still looking great at 38!

Rose McGowan and Marley Shelton for Rolling Stone
This certainly added to the hype surrounding the actresses' blockbuster movie, "Grindhouse."

Not that we're complaining -- we love celebrity nudity as much as the next person -- but what's with stars going naked on the covers of fashion magazines?

Kate Hudson is one of the most frequent skin flashing offenders, and according to The Sun, that's not going to stop any time soon. She loves doing it, and she plans more.

Not that she's an exhibitionist. No, when Kate bares all on the cover of InStyle, it's because of her love of the arts. Sure it is, Kate.

Golly, that reminds us of how Jennifer Aniston was on the cover of December's GQ wearing only a tie (which you can win, btw!), just because she's creative and free like that. Also, we hear she's deliriously happy and not desperate at all.

Oh -- their movies coming out at the same time as their magazine covers? Just delightful coincidences!

3.1 Phillip Lim's "Sophie" bag doesn't exist

Filed under: Handbags, Daily Obsession, Must Haves

When we came across this 3.1 Phillip Lim bag in the pages of In Style, we were instantly obsessed.

The cobalt blue and black leather. The chain strap. The haphazardly-arranged jewels.

However, after hunting online and around town, we couldn't find said bag anywhere.

Flatter Your Figure - The right shirtdress for your shape

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Flatter Your Figure

Shirtdresses have a lot going for them. They can easily go from one season to the next with a simple change of footwear and possibly the addition of a sweater, and they can be worn casually or glammed up. And, the right shirtdress can be seriously flattering. However, the wrong one? Bad news, darling.

We've got some tips from InStyle on how to rock the shirtdress trend (as well as a few of our own), regardless of your shape. And remember, the key to finding something that flatters your figure is always to try it on -- you'll never be able to tell how it fits from the hanger. Trust us.

Bordeaux dress with built in smoother

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses

Flipping through InStyle magazine at the salon, we were struck by this pretty dress by Bordeaux.

Yes, the color is great, and the embellished neckline still has a few minutes left on the fashionable timer. But it was what you can't see that caught my eye.

The Strapper keeps your bra straps in place

The StrapperI don't know about you, but I never have the proper bras for my outfits. Any time I am wearing a racer back top or dress, I have to go ghetto-style and tie my straps back with a piece of ribbon. Oh, the shame. For some reason I never remember to buy a racer back bra when I am out shopping. Now thanks to The Strapper I can officially rid myself of that worry.

For just a few dollars (around $5), The Strapper will pull back my straps and keep them in place. The little plastic disc gathers your straps between your shoulder blades and comfortably lies flat against you -- no discomfort and no embarrassing bra straps hanging out of your clothes.

Even though they are designed for racer back tops, I would bet you can wear them with regular tops if you want to keep your bra straps from falling down. One customer from the testimonial section on their website used hers with her swimsuit: "Wow what a product. I've used it for my bathing suit with success. The color match was also perfect. Thanks so much."

The Strapper was just mentioned in InStyle's September issue and many women have already tried and fallen in love with this little lingerie gadget.

navy eyelinerBy now, you've (hopefully) got your dress steamed of wrinkles, shoes polished, jewelry matched, and handbag outfitted for the holiday parties that have been and still are happening. And even if the holiday parties have already happened, you've still got New Year's.

However, have you done anything about your makeup? The same look you've been doing all fall is fine, if you're going to get coffee with a girlfriend, but you've got to step it up for a holiday party. InStyle suggests you change it up with navy eyeliner. At first, I was skeptical. I've used nothing but black eyeliner and dark shadows to create a smoky look all my life, but the look of navy, especially with plum and bronze shadows, is stunning on Thandie Newton (then again, she probably looks great without any makeup on, too). InStyle used MAC's eyelining pencil in Prussian, which run about $14, but if you don't want to invest that much on something you might not like, try Rimmel's Kohl eyeliner in Denim Blue, which is only $3.19 at drugstore.com

Do your Eyes, Lips, Face for only $1 each

ELF lip gloss on cell phoneA friend just tipped me off to a special promotion by a new makeup line called E.L.F. (for Eyes Lips Face), which has already received a good review by InStyle magazine. E.L.F. will be sold at Bloomingdale's in the near future, but until and its debut in stores, the company is promoting almost all of their products for only $1 each.

I haven't yet tried the products myself, but at only a dollar piece, I'm willing to try something new. Heck, you can never have too many shades of liptick, right? I particularly like the tiny lipglosses that attach to your cell phone!
