Indian Man has Ear Hair Long Enough to Braid

Filed under: Men, Hair Cut and Style

Someone please get this man a Sharper Image ear and nose hair trimmer, and quick. Radhakant Bajpai, the record holder for the world's longest ear hair since 2003, has announced that his hideous ear locks(?) have sprouted to the 10 inch mark. Sure, he might be the male version on Sheyla Hershey -- the woman who recently supersized her rack to size 38KKK -- but Bajpai knows more than anyone about which shampoos keep your sensitive ear hair silky and smooth. He uses a specialty blend herbal haircare product.

Throughout this entire month, Pangea Collection will donate $1 from any Fair Trade Jewelry order to Opportunity International, one of the largest micro-finance organizations supporting Fair Trade in the world. Prices are extremely reasonable, with most pieces being in the $20 to $30 range, which means they'd be a great little gift for a friend, or a gorgeous little pick-me-up for you!

Primark finally wises up

Filed under: Style in the News

You may want to think twice the next time you purchase a cheap designer knock-off:

Recently, it was revealed that British fast-fashion store Primark had been buying clothes from suppliers who used child labor. In light of this, Primark decided to drop three Indian companies -- who make-up approximately 0.04% of the clothing bought for its store -- because the brand discovered the companies were using children for embroidery work.

Lakme Indian Fashion Week

Fashion around the globe absolutely fascinates me. I know these Fashion Weeks in Asia aren't nearly as big of a deal for the fashion world as Milan or Paris, but to me, they're just as interesting. Style gives us a unique glimpse into another culture.

In the past week I've been able to write about Tunis Handicraft Week and China Fashion Week. Now we're about to take a glance at Fashion Week in India.

Fashion for your phone

Cell phones have become far more than a way for us to make a call. Between sending text messages, pictures, and videos, storing music, and acting as a mobile workstation, it's a wonder our cells have time to do anything else.

But they do -- they act as yet another fashion accessory.

In India, adding bling to your cell is a booming business. For example, there is a device that will turn your car's rear view mirror into a monitor so you can check the incoming calls by looking in your mirror while you drive. There are also options for music lovers, like stereophonic speakers to turn your phone into a mini home theater. Or, if you're a bit forgetful, you might want to opt for an intelligent watch, which will alert you if you're leaving your cell behind.

And, if you're more interested in making your phone look fancy than in giving it fancy functions, you can always opt for phone jewelry and charms. After all, if you can personalize your ring tone, shouldn't you be able to personalize the phone, too?

Fashion TV under fire in India

Filed under: Style in the News

bollywood dancersWe seem to get away with a lot of skin on TV here in the US, but not so in India. India's Information Minister has warned a fashion-fcoused television channel, Fashion TV, "aganist denigrating culture" for airing what Priyaranjan Dasmunsi considers raunchy. Not only is it raunchy, but Dasmunsi has brought it to attention because the broadcasts are made during children's viewing times. Dasmunsi would like "for Fashion TV channel to think of whether they should confine their program beyond 11 (p.m.)."

The programs in question? Music videos featuring sexy dancers and a suggestive advertisement of a woman licking an ice cream.

Wow. If that were the case here in the US, we'd have nothing but blank screens on tv.

Paris Hilton finally breaks into the Indian market

Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

After a ban on her music video, hotel heiress Paris Hilton will soon be making her way into the Indian retail market. According to a Reuters report, Hilton will be modeling a line of clothes by American designer Anand Jon. Jon is of Indian descent and has created this line to sell to the India's trend elite. She will visit five Indian cities including Mumbai. But just because Paris's music video for "Stars are Blind" didn't make it onto the air waves due to its "explicit" content doesn't mean that her reputation won't precede her. Copies of the infamous "One night in Paris" sex tape are readily available on the streets of India for as little as $2.
