JCPenney Says No to Fur

JCPenney adYou might recall that, back in 2006, JCPenney was in some hot water with animal activists after some of their clothing labeled as having raccoon fur actually had fur from raccoon dogs, a species of dog in China. Well, the department store has been working hard to make up for its furry gaffe and has now announced that they are fur-free.

JCPenney taps Charoltte Ronson to re-up its brand

Filed under: Style in the News

Suffice it to say, everyone -- for the most part-- is sustaining themselves on some level of brokeness right now. As a result, the likelihood of one dropping more than forty bucks on a cute knit top or equally covetable accessory is slim to none in our current economic down turn. Luckily, there's Target's Go International collections for a smart and affordable quick sartorial pick-me-up.

And now, it appears JC Penney may be the next go-to destination for stylish women on a budget as well:

Charlotte Ronson, the downtown cool girl who designs whimsical tops and bottoms in her free time, has been recruited by JC Penney to bring her laid back aesthetic to its junior's department. The collection which is being dubbed I [Heart] Ronson will consist of everything from $15 for layering T-shirts and tanks to $26 to $44 for blouses, sweaters and jeans to $40 to $65 for dresses and jackets.

Sweet and cheap. Just how we like it! Expect all of the designs to begin rolling into JC Penney stores next February.

Why aren't you wearing this? Linear Beaded Earrings

There was a time in our childhood when we thought beads were for grandmas and hippies, but happily, that time has long since passed. We love mixing up lots of different beads for an eclectic, boho look, but we also love the idea of wearing just a really beautiful pair of beaded earrings.

We tried it, we liked it: Elements of BlissWire Underwire bra

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Product Reviews

A couple of weeks ago we filled you in on a new bra entering the market -- Warner's Elements of BlissWire bra. Well, our friends at Warner's provided us with a sample to try out so we could see for ourselves whether the Elements of BlissWire bra was truly a new level of comfort. We've had a chance to wear it around, and we've made our decision.

A new level of comfort: Elements of Bliss bra (and free panty!)

What are your requirements for the perfect, everyday bra? Sure, we love to imagine ourselves prancing around in fancy, lacy push-up bras all day, but the fact of the matter is that for daily activities, we need comfort. We need to not be poked by an underwire, and our bra hold things in place, but in a natural way. Oh, but we still need to have a fabulous, sexy shape. Of course.

As you undoubtedly know, it's tough to find the perfect everyday bra, but, fingers crossed, we might have found it -- Warner's is launching their new Elements of Bliss bra starting tomorrow!

Why aren't you wearing this? Multicolored Beaded Coil Bracelet

As we've said a million times, the easiest way to wear a trend is to wear it as an accessory. You might not be completely comfortable wearing an entirely yellow outfit, but you might like a bright yellow purse. Or, if you're digging the safari trend but don't want to look like you just got back from one, the right belt or hat can give you the look you want without quite as much commitment.

Teen sex ad not endorsed by JC Penney

Filed under: Stores We Love, Style in the News

Oh, you precocious advertising companies -- always trying to push the limit with your racy print ads and TV spots. The latest blow-up over some scandalous marketing gone awry surrounds a fake ad for JC Penney. A production company called Epoch Films created a fictitious TV commercial (above), which features two teenagers putting their clothes on as fast as they can. You find out later that they've been practicing getting dressed quickly so as not to get caught having sex in the house. Saucy!

Why aren't you wearing this? Bisou Bisou Patent Clutch

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Must Haves

Bright patent clutches are a must this summer, but not everyone can afford the hefty price tag that comes along with some of the designer versions. Plus, when you're getting something in a fabulously bright color, it would be nice to have it in a variety of colors to work with lots of different outfits.

Dockers is sick of being lame

Apparently, Dockers is tired of being limited to golf courses and the wardrobes of men over 40. They desperately want to figure out buck their pleated image and target a younger generation of khaki pant-wearing types. Rather than making cool, younger-looking designs, their idea is to change the tone of their advertising. That should work, right? Since we just buy whatever advertisers tell us to. We say: good luck with that.

The latest piece of Dockers' strategy to have Dockers enthusiasts -- if there is such a thing -- make their own Dockers commercial. We've got a suggestion, how about Dockers tries to make a lineup of clothes that's worth making a homemade commercial about? Seriously, if Dockers wants to target a younger generation, they need to go with some styles that could possibly be sold at stores that young people shop at -- rather than Sears and JCPenney.
