Juicy Couture Opens NY Shop

It has been said that if our country were to be hit by some huge asteroid everything would be destroyed -- plants, animals, humans -- except for those nasty little cock roaches. Some how, they would end up on the top of the food chain.

Why aren't you wearing this? Juicy Couture Cashmere Bow and Ruffles Scarf

We absolutely love it when the weather turns just cool enough that we need to wear a light sweater. To warm it up just a little bit, our favorite trick is a warm scarf -- it takes up almost no room, unlike a coat, so if the weather warms up we can just tuck it away in our handbag, but if we get cold, wrapping it around our neck really does the trick.

New York Fashion Week is in full swing (and StyleList is covering it from every possible angle!) so it is nearly impossible to not be inspired by all the fabulous looks high-end designers are sending down the runway. We were particularly taken by this ethereal look from Jill Stuart and set out to find a real-world version to feature here.

Why aren't you wearing this? Juicy Couture Slouchy Newsboy Beret

Filed under: Accessories, Hair Care, Must Haves

Most of the time, we don't really want anything we're wearing to be described as slouchy. We did the slouch sock phase, and we're happy to be well past it, and sure, there are slouchy sweaters, but in all honesty, we prefer something with a little more fit.

Sleep pretty with Juicy Couture

Filed under: Style in the News

When the days are get long and our feet are hurting, we love nothing more than to take a good hot shower and slip into our favorite pair of PJs before hitting the sack.

Today, WWD reports Juicy Couture wants to dress us for our mission to reach a deep coma-like state of sleep at night. Recently, the brand dropped its first-ever collection of sleepwear and loungewear in several department and specialty stores world-wide.

Named Choose Sleep by Juicy Couture, the lines consist of nighties, robes, pajama bottoms, sleep tops and undies made from playful prints and luxe fabrics. The pieces retail in price from $14 for panties to $125 for robes. Sizes will range from XS to XL

Basically, this will be like Victoria's Secret's PINK line except with less sparkle and more charms.

Ridiculously costly designer baby gifts

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Kids and Babies

What recession? You'd never know the country is in belt tightening mode by looking at the children's departments of upscale stores like Saks Fifth Avenue or Neiman Marcus. With designer names and totally impractical materials -- silk? cashmere? for a baby? -- the racks are full of high fashion and high prices.

We suspect that Suri Cruise is somehow to blame. Talk about the child most likely to become Claire, Molly Ringwald's character in The Breakfast Club, who got detention for skipping school to go shopping. Perfectly coiffed and dressed, she has a wardrobe full of Cavalli, Dior and Burberry. And she's just turned two. We can only imagine what she'll be wearing at 16.

Is your booty still Juicy?

Last weekend, while cleaning out our closets (no pun intended), we stumbled upon one of our sixth grade Christmas lists.

On the crumbled piece of paper, a bike, the Britney Spears ...Baby One More Time album, and a Juicy Couture track suit all had triple asterisks next to their name, which means that our twelve-year-old selves had to have these items when the new millennium rolled in or we were going to totally die!

Lawsuit-happy Victoria's Secret gets served by Juicy

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie

If you hang around with copyright lawyers enough, you're bound to get sued. That's what seems to be happening to Victoria's Secret right now. After suing Macy's for supposedly making knockoffs of their "Pink" line, it looks like VS is going to have to face the wrath of Juicy Couture's legal team. According to the lawsuit, Victoria Secret ripped off Juicy's trademark pink color as well as its marketing strategy, even down to the lollipop shaped packaging of some of their items.

It seems like every major fashion company is up to their eyeballs in copyright infringement lawsuits these days -- but instead of going after straight up counterfeiters, they've unexpectedly taken the opportunity to have a free-for-all on each other. It'll be interesting to see how many of these lawsuits hold up in court. When it's over, I'm sure most will wish the hadn't bothered to cast the first stone.

Dress of the Day: Juicy Couture Velour Hoodie Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

juicy couture velour hoodie dressThe Holidays are officially in high gear, and while you may not necessarily be heading out to Holiday Galas and wrapping gifts just yet, you are preparing.

This weekend, as you're lugging a tree up to your urban dwelling, baking holiday cookies for your neighbor, and zipping around town finishing up your holiday shopping, stay comfortable in Juicy Couture's Velour Hoodie Dress. We love the deep Bordeaux color, perfect for the season, but the dress also comes in black. With the right pair of shimmery tights and shoes, this functional "day" dress could probably work for a casual dinner party at home.

Available from Nordstrom for $198.

Juicy "Crittoure" for your posh pup

Filed under: Hair Care, Fragrance, Skin Care

juicy couture for dog gift setApparently, there isn't a thing -- not a thing -- that you can't do to pamper your puppy, even luxuriate it with "beauty" products.

Juicy Couture's beauty and fragrance division has a line specifically for pets! There are things that work for dogs like shampoo and conditioner, Pawlette wipes and moisturizer for their paws, and Pawfume. There's aso a house spray to take care of any "fragrance" that your dog may leave behind (not that she ever would!). Thank goodness there aren't any cosmetics, unless you consider claw polish as makeup. Because you know it just isn't right for dogs to go without a proper mani and pedi.

The gift set shown, called Doggy Jet Set, includes Pawfume, Pawlettes, and fragrance mist. It's $80 at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Dress of the Day: Juicy Couture Scoop Shift Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

Juicy Couture Scoop Shift DressWhile summer never seems to end here in LA, there is a transition period from hot to fall everywhere else. It makes shopping for new clothes difficult. You can't buy true "fall" clothes or you'll end up sweating on those Indian summer days. You can't stock up at the summer sales because you'll be shivering in that little white eyelet babydoll when it's 55 degrees outside in the morning.

Something like Juicy Couture's Scoop Shift Dress is perfect for this seasonal limbo. When days are warm, you can slip a cami or thin tank top underneath (or play it dangerously and wear nothing underneath). When the day is cool, the shift dress acts more like a "jumper," so you can put on a long-sleeve t-shirt underneath. The dress is made of 100% cotton, which will keep you cool, but the dark charcoal gray is a color that works for fall.

Dress available for $248 at StandardStyle.com

Liz Claiborne bets on Juicy and Kate

Filed under: Style in the News

Yet another fashion retailer is going through a shakeup and looking to sell or shut down some of their brands. Liz Claiborne is currently mulling over a major overhaul. The company is hitching their wagon to four label stars, Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, Lucky Brand Jeans and Mexx. These brands are expected to grow from about $2.2 billion this year to $3 billion by 2010 as the increased focus on the brands will lead to more marketing spending and store expansions.

The bad news is that if you are a fan of C&C California, Dana Buchman, Ellen Tracy, Emma James, Enyce, First Issue, Intuitions, J.H. Collectibles, Kenzie, Laundry by Design, Mac & Jac, prAna, Sigrid Olsen, Stamp 10, Tapemeasure or Tint, be on notice that these brands may be gone soon or going through a major change. It seems the company is set on skewing younger (yawn!) and ditching the older more staid brands. My question is whether or not this is just fashion's normal brand molting in which labels are often shed in favor of the newest and hottest or whether the older women, who should be (if based on population alone) the biggest market, are getting shafted yet again. Or perhaps there is a third option, women are getting older but we are dressing younger.

Camping girly girl style

Juicy Couture Camp Survival Kit - #5 Camp Essentials
My love/hate relationship with Juicy Couture turned to love about 8 months ago and to me those Juicy babes can do no wrong no matter how silly their product lines are. Case in point; the Juicy Couture Camp Survival Kit. Now every snooty rich kid that is forced off to camp can make the other campers feel like losers by showing off their designer camp gear.

What is in a camping survival kit anyway? For me it would be my Blackberry, a can of diet coke, a pack of gummy bears, and my YSL highlighter pen. For Juicy it is a pink camo drawstring bag to tote around all of your camping necessities. A pillow to rest your tired head, so much better than those germ ridden ones they force you to use on the camp grounds. Pink postcards to write home to mom and dad letting them know how much you love or hate them for shipping you off to camp. An address book and pen so you can keep in touch with your new friends, and of course a pink photo album so you can peg a name to a face. It gets hot and sticky out in the log cabin so a red translucent fan is a must have. Possibly the most important tool in the kit is the flashlight -- now you can stay up late reading US Weekly's and will have a nice beam of light to lead you down the dark woods to your bathroom in the ground.

Get one at Neiman Marcus for $95 and if the log cabin is booked and it's sleeping under the stars for you, you might need this too!

Happy camping.

Chocolate-covered strawberry minus the calories

Juicy Couture Strawberry Charm
What's the catch? The catch is that this berry isn't going anywhere near your mouth. With all of the hot dogs, hamburgers, and mayonnaise-laden "salads" you will be ingesting this holiday weekend you won't need anymore actual food to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Juicy Couture has managed to keep the good charms coming with their newest batch, which includes soccer balls, martinis, banana splits, and even a diploma for the grads. The actual charm bracelet has been sold in department stores and boutiques for years and years, but the charms are always changing.

I wasn't even interested in the charm bracelet trend until I fell in love with last season's lipstick charm and began to fill up my $35 bracelet. Now it's not only becoming addicting, but fun to collect all of the charms. I have a feeling I might need to buy a second bracelet this season.
