Models vs Actresses, Round One

Watch out Katie Holmes, Kate Winslet, and even Diane Keaton--the supermodels have declared war on actresses who are taking their jobs in fashion and beauty campaigns.

Top German model Julia Stegner is at New York Fashion Week as the Brand Ambassador for the week's sponsor, Mercedes Benz. And she's itching for a fight!

"I'm happy the supermodels are coming back," she told StyleList backstage at Mercedes' VIP Star Lounge. "I think we should take away the jobs that all the actresses are trying to take from us. Because you know what, being in an advertising campaign is not a job for an actress, it's a job for a model. Otherwise all the models are going to get together and steal all the acting jobs."

Victoria Secret takes over the September GQ cover

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

What in the world could push a headline about the so-hot and so-interesting Barack Obama to the very bottom of the cover of GQ? A bevy of Victoria Secret models in underwear, of course.

The September issue of GQ is expected to be one of their biggest ever, with Heidi Klum and her sexy lady friends like Adriana Lima, Marisa Miller, Karolina Kurkova, Alessandra Ambrosio, Miranda Kerr, Izabel Goulart, Selita Ebanks, Isabelli Fontana, Candice Swanepole, Julia Stegner, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley gracing the (fold out) cover and several pages inside.

The spread was photographed by Gavin Bond and features a literally wild selection of outfits: zebra stripes, leopard spots, scales, feathers, and oh yeah, tons of skin.

We don't have much to add. This is more of a visual story, you know?

Brosnan tries to make Aquascutum fashionable

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Over on Luxist, I wrote previously about Aquascutum's desire to turn their brand hip sort of like the transformation that has occurred for Burberry and Pringle. Their first effort seems to be these ads showing Pierce Brosnan and young model Julia Stegner. Kim Winser, who turned Pringle fashionable again after years of stodgy designs, is charged with the task of making Aquascutum known for more than old men's raincoats. Vogue UK reports that Brosnan and Stegner are supposed to represent "the ultimate power couple" but this ad looks more like Daddy giving his daughter a chess lesson. I've loved Pierce since the Remington Steele days but the generation gap here just looks a tad bit creepy.
