Filed under: Style in the News

iPodWe've always loved the fact that Lucky Magazine doesn't pretend to be about anything more than shopping. Lucky at Your Service, the pub's new iPhone app, won't either.

The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Lucky is a great resource for fashion tips and inspiration, and yesterday, the magazine released its second book: "The Lucky Guide to Mastering Any Style: How to Wear Iconic Looks and Make Them Your Own."

The guidebook breaks down ten major styles--bohemian and mod among them--with tips on how to make each uniquely you, from the wardrobe staples you'll need to the best places to shop.

And in true Lucky fashion, there's even a "Book Breaks" page on the Web site where readers can enter to win a range of prizes from Piperlime, Barney's Co Op, Shopbop, Paige Premium Denim, and Active Endeavors. Sign us up!

Or flag every page of the Elle Spring Shoes Round Up, only to stack it in a corner with dozens of other dog-earred magazines?

It turns out, there are lots of us, and one woman who came up with a system to help organize it all: Scanalog.

Dress of the Day: Black Halo Tweed Cami Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

lucky mag 2007 octoberIf you fell in love with Mandy Moore's ultra feminine look on the cover of Lucky magazine's October 2007 issue, well, you can get most of it with a single piece. What looks like a ruffle-front camisole over a high-waisted gray tweed skirt is actually a dress by Black Halo. The bodice is 100% ivory silk, attached to the skirt that also includes a thin belt. Mandy's got a little cardigan over the dress, making it work for the office, but you can take that dress right to cocktail hour without a cover-up.

Available at Pink Mascara for $350.

Earrings to hairclips in a flash

jackson jewels clip on earrings vintageEvery time I go shopping at vintage boutiques I find the coolest earrings. The problem is they are always clip-on earrings. What do you do with vintage clip on earrings? I mean, they are kind of cheesy to wear as actual earrings and most gals I know have pierced ears. My clip-on earring conundrum is finally solved ... wear them as hair clips.

I discovered this wonderful idea while paging through an old Lucky magazine. The model had her hair loosely swept back in a bun with a tiny cluster of clip on earrings attached to the side of her head. While they aren't strong enough to actually hold your hair back, they serve as the perfect add on to a boring old bun. The look is best when you mix and match different pairs of earrings to make for a more unique look.

Find clip on earrings in your local vintage stores, flea markets, online, or in your grandmother's jewelry box.
