Victoria Beckham Strips Down for Another Man - Giorgio Armani, of Course!

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Victoria Beckham did something this morning that would make most of us cringe. And no, we're not talking about walking in six-inch stilettos -- rather, the former Spice Girl unveiled a 20-foot version of her new ad for Emporio Armani Underwear at Macy's Herald Square in New York City. The image is from the Autumn/Winter 2009/10 advertising campaign, and shows Posh in a lacy bra and panty set, up against a wall.

Content to leave the flesh-baring to the inanimate banner, Posh covered up for the event in an Emporio Armani black fitted tuxedo jacket with black jet beaded shoulders and black Swarovski crystal beaded leggings. Naturally, she had on some fierce Emporio Armani black satin platforms with silver twist heels. Fans and customers were left guessing which intimates from the new Women's Underwear collection Victoria had on underneath.

The Old Sale Scam-Devil in the Deets

Filed under: Stores We Love, Steals and Deals

Good deal versus scam deal: What's the difference? Take a look at the 2 coupons above. Century 21 offers a 25% discount and Macy's offers and extra 15% off. But a closer look at the Macy's ad reveals a list of brands that aren't part of this potential deal. In fact, the number of items excluded from the Macy's discount might even outnumber the number of items covered by the coupon. Excluded categories include bridge and designer intimate apparel, shoes, handbags, sportswear, cashmere, cosmetics, fragrance, jewelry, watches and so much more. Presumably, there are items at Macy's to which the discount could be applied. We're going to propose the radical idea, for the sake of clarity, that the coupon should list items that are included rather than those which are excluded. Or maybe it's not in the store's best interest to spread accurate and clear information. Rather, disinformation is their allay because an uninformed client is less likely to spend his/her money in a prudent manner. Meanwhile, the Century 21 coupon applies to any item, regardless of designer, price or category. That sounds like a much better deal.

Macy's Holiday ad Campaign: Full of Stars and Good Will

We know. Right now, looking at holiday shopping catalogs, commercials, and mailers must seem like cruel and unusual punishment because, let's face it, we're all collectively broke. Sigh.

I want that! Alicia Keys in Catherine Malandrino

Songbird Alicia Keys was casual and cool in an appearance on MTV's TRL. Her girly Malandrino Darling sweater was offset but a pair of comfy Akademiks jeans. But these weren't just any jeans. Friends, these jeans are stitched in Godiva. Not only can you eat creamy Godiva chocolate, you can wear it too!

Alicia set the simple pieces off with a pair of hoop earrings and a cool silver Nooka watch.

• Akademiks jeans, Macys, $60

• Malandrino Darling sweater, Special order at Catherine Malandrino, $525

• Nooka Zoo watch, Nooka, $265

Why aren't you wearing this? Jansport Laptop Sleeve

We know that not everyone has a job in which they can carry around a leopard print laptop bag. And, even if they can, it might not always match what they're wearing. But, that doesn't mean they don't want a little animal print (or something equally funky) in their life, right?

That's why we're digging these Jansport Laptop Sleeves, available at Macy's for $35. You can carry your computer in as boring a bag as you like, knowing that there's something way more interesting behind the zipper. Kind of like underwear, but underwear you can show your co-workers. Okay, underwear you can show your co-workers without getting fired.

Eva Mendes wants you between her sheets

Filed under: Haute Home, Celebrities with Style

Eva Mendes wants you to have a fabulous experience in your bedroom -- by buying her new line of bedding at Macy's.

Her collection, named Vida, is Latin-inspired, as you'll see in the patterns and details, and there will be five styles to choose from. The idea behind it is "easy luxury, said Mendes, adding, "The colors, fabrics, and textures that I live and love, brought to life in a stylish, comfortable, and affordable way."

By affordable, she doesn't exactly mean Wal-Mart prices. You'll need to shell out $340 to $425 for a four-piece queen set. But hey, we know a lot of people who would pay a lot more to get in between Eva Mendes' sheets!

PZI Jeans for the real curvy ladies might have some competition from JBrand Blue Line

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Jeans

It's about time they made some jeans for ladies with contours. We've spent hours tugging at jeans that are too loose in the waist and too tight in the hips. It's uncomfortable, and even worse, it looks bad.

Last week super trendy J Brand jeans announced a new line called Blue Line that will target "curvy" women. Forgive us if we doubt their definition of "curvy" although we applaud the effort.

They might want to look to their curvy competition, PZI Jeans. PZI is all about fitting curves. Their excellent sizing chart even acknowledges the totally common but underserved small waist-to-hip ratio, aka the reason why we all walk around with gaping waistbands. Or we did until PZI came along. From the pictures on the site, you can tell that these are jeans that will fit you like a grown up, without low-riding or muffin topping.

Lawsuit-happy Victoria's Secret gets served by Juicy

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie

If you hang around with copyright lawyers enough, you're bound to get sued. That's what seems to be happening to Victoria's Secret right now. After suing Macy's for supposedly making knockoffs of their "Pink" line, it looks like VS is going to have to face the wrath of Juicy Couture's legal team. According to the lawsuit, Victoria Secret ripped off Juicy's trademark pink color as well as its marketing strategy, even down to the lollipop shaped packaging of some of their items.

It seems like every major fashion company is up to their eyeballs in copyright infringement lawsuits these days -- but instead of going after straight up counterfeiters, they've unexpectedly taken the opportunity to have a free-for-all on each other. It'll be interesting to see how many of these lawsuits hold up in court. When it's over, I'm sure most will wish the hadn't bothered to cast the first stone.

For your heart, wear red today

Filed under: Stores We Love, Celebrities with Style, Style for a Cause

wear redNot that they should have to "market," of course, but if the American Heart Association is going to pick one month out of the year to focus on heart health, they sure did the right thing with picking February -- we've got nothing but hearts, uh, on our brains. Not only are we pounded from left, right and center with heart-shaped things, but everything is pink and red. It's quite perfect actually, because today is National Wear Red Day, in support of Go Red for Women, the American Heart Association's effort to wipe out heart disease in women.

And, just in case you needed any more reason to recognize the American Heart Association's effort, Macy's is doing a one-day sale today in support of National Wear Red Day. All you have to do is wear red into their stores and you get 15% off!

Saving women from heart disease and saving money at Macy's -- how awesome is that?

Macy's CEO is one stylish man

Filed under: Stores We Love, Men

The rather distinguished gentleman at right is an unlikely style icon but Terry Lundgren is the fashion plate of the CEO world. Lundgren is the CEO of the Federated department stores (which includes Macy's) and he is a man known for his sleek style. Even Donald Trump has given props to Lundgren dubbing him "an elegant man." Lundgren has the money to dress well, his total compensation in 2006 was a cool $16.27 million that includes a merchandise/apparel discount worth $48,382 which helps him being a living advertisement for the chain's 850 stores. Given that kind of budget, I would think anyone could dress well.
