MANties: Panties for dudes, kind of

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Men

You ever noticed how when your girlfriend is out of town, and you try on her silk panties and frolic around the house, that -- while it's fun and everything -- they just don't fit right, you know, down there?

Oh, so you don't know what that feels like? Uh. Right. Of course you don't. And neither do we.

But if you were ever curious, it appears there's an easier option for men who "want to be and feel a little special, naughty, and very sexy." Introducing MANties. Apparently these frilly undies are designed specifically with guys in mind -- with "extra room where you need it, for the most comfortable fit there is."

Gallery: MANties

So if you're into something softer around your manly bits, this might be just what you're looking for. Though, even if these are technically made for guys, we wouldn't recommend telling anyone that you're wearing them. Even if some runway designers are promoting mankinis, we're not sure the world is ready for dudes in lacy lingerie.

Hip Hop Men's Sunglasses On Location at the ASCAP Awards

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Accessories

Michael
Buckner is a fashion and celebrity photographer who travels around the world taking pictures on the red carpet. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hottest entertainment industry events.

It's that time of year again -- time to honor the songwriters for today's hottest hip hop and R&B performers. Producers, lyricists and managers filled the Beverly Hilton Hotel for the dinner and awards ceremony.

Since rappers where sunglasses everywhere they go, I've decided to do a gallery of my favorite shades for the
evening.

Hip hop stars and designer eyewear make for bad pictures, but good shopping options for those who want to hide from the cameras like a true playa.

Tip of the day: How to rock a white suit

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

Alright so you want to wear a white suit. Phhhooo, this is a toughie. White suits often make a man appear like he thinks his ish don't stink. You know the type: majestic yet totally tacky, sexy yet a complete ago maniac, cool yet far from innocent. The bastards. Studs like P.Diddy and David Beckham are prime white suit candidates. And didn't Al Capone and Scarface wear them too? As you see it takes a heck of a man to rock this right.

So if you think you've got the stuff to pull a white suit off here are a few more rules to follow to make sure you're the dapperest don in the room.

David Beckham's package sends women into hysterics

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Men, Celebrities with Style

Back in December we brought you breaking news of David Beckham's (probably enhanced) Armani underwear ad campaign. Today those bulge-er-iffic images were finally revealed to the public at large -- 70-feet tall and plastered on the side of a building in San Francisco.

Best of all, Beckham was on hand to show off his man meat sign photos of the ads, making his legions of female admirers ever crazier than they were already. To witness the hysteria, plug your ears and play the video above, and to check out the images inducing international female lust, click through to the gallery.

Sure, the ads look great and everything, but honestly people: relax, they're just skivvies.

Man, would you wear this? Men's fashion gets gangsta at London's Graduate Fashion Week!

Filed under: Runway Trends, Events: On the Scene, Men

If fashion is war, then consider Zandile Blay your embedded reporter. From fashion shows to stylish parties, she's there to cover it all -- from London to New York and everywhere in between. Read all about it from your favorite fashionista.

Boy oh boy was Monday all about the boys. As you know, I am your girl on the ground at London's Graduate Fashion Week, which is going on right now and gives British design students a chance to show off their skills. As usual, the bulk of collections that floated down the runway were for women. But somehow between all the floating chiffon dresses, ultra neon tights and cropped leather jackets, the menswear collections emerged triumphant.

Posh's jeans sink to new low

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Daily Obsession

Sure, sales weren't exactly stellar, and Posh's meager PR efforts weren't helping the situation -- but this is a new low! The Spice Girl's dVb jeans (you know, the ones that don't show off your bulge), were going for upwards of $290 at trendy LA boutiques. Now, however, they're lining the racks of Loehmann's, an "off-price specialty retailer" (read: the discount store for clothes that nobody wants).

And it's not just a couple pairs, either. An accomplice for gossip queen Perez Hilton found entire racks full of them in a Roseda, CA store -- all priced at a considerably more affordable $69.99.

NFL may force players to cut their hair

Now that ESPN is going fashion-forward, and NBA players are showing up on Vogue covers, I suppose this was only a matter of time. The National Football League, an institution that has never, ever cared at all about fashion, is considering outlawing long hair on the field.

This is good move, because some of these guys are in serious need of a trim. Long, scraggly locks are only cool for 1990s Metallica fans and characters in romance novels -- not for guys who make untold millions of dollars and are worshipped by men everywhere.

As you might suspect, this doesn't really have anything to do with fashion, and is intended more as a safety measure. Players who let their man-manes hang out are more likely to have their hair pulled while being tackled, and that hurts -- a lot. In fact, if the rule is passed, players won't even be required to cut their hair -- which, for obvious reasons, is unfortunate.

Men's Fashion: Maui Jim sunglasses

maui jim sunglassesIt's not everyday (or any day for that matter) that I get to shop for men's sunglasses but today I did. I was pretty clueless at the start because to me all men's glasses look the same so I asked the salesclerk for a little assistance.

My victim makeover candidate and I were directed towards the brand Maui Jim, which was a new label to me. Maui Jim glasses are made with super-thin polarized lenses, 20% thinner than most to be exact and scratch resistant. I don't know if you have ever looked at the world through polarized lenses but I can tell you that it's pretty darn cool.

My test subject tried on many pairs of shades by Maui Jim but the clear winner was the 'Kahuna' shape. The rectangular frame was perfect for his face and he even got a compliment from some random guy passing by.

These glasses are available in a gunmetal color and a copper for $259 at Nordstrom stores and Nordstrom.com.

Wonderbra for your manly bits

Aussibum, an Australian designer, has created a pair of underwear that's taken the concept of the Wonderbra, and is using it to enhance the presence of your manly area.

It might sound like email spam, but the company claims it's "all natural," with "no rings string, padding or anything," using your "own parts." In short, says the company "the little budgie is a little budgie no more, it is a cockatoo."

For the adventurous among you (who aren't at work, or work someplace where half-naked dudes showing off their barely-covered "cockatoos" is cool with the boss), you can see the Wonderjocks in action in this video clip. And if you really like it, you can make the company your new MySpace friend.

Although, beware gentlemen. While this may seem like a good idea, eventually someone is going to see your "parts" sans Wonderjock, and you'll have a little explaining to do. Not everyone likes surprises.

Add a little punk to your look

Years ago, I was fond of dying my hair every conceivable combination of loud, bold colors and spiking it as tall as gravity would allow. That, combined with a black leather jacket, big steel-toed boots, and an obsession with fast-paced, politically-charged, profanity-laced rock music made me a punk.

These days, I'm not part of the scene, but still have a healthy skepticism for authority, and a soft spot for aggressive, abrasive urban fashion.

So, while they're not exactly anti-establishment, I'm a fan of the new Schererbahn X from Puma. The dirty silver leather and heavy, baseball-style stitching give the shoes some punk rock cred. Meanwhile, they're sleek enough as not to stand out completely from the rest of my current wardrobe.

Because these days, it's important to look good while sticking it to the man.

Guys: here's how to stay cool and look good this summer

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Men

It's only April, and we've already had a couple 80-degree days down here in Texas. Plus, since I take care of my daughter in the afternoons, I can't hole myself inside air conditioned offices and apartments all day like I did last summer. Hence, therefore, and in conclusion, I figured it's about time I found myself some shorts.

Shorts? For real?

For real.

I've been avoiding shorts for years -- namely, because I thought they looked dumb on any guy over the age of 13 who wasn't playing a sport. But recently the laid-back look is calling to me, and it's coming from an unexpected place: "urban" fashion.

I don't have anything against urban fashion -- in fact, I'm not entirely sure what that means. All I know is that it's usually not to my taste, but High Snobriety, one of the best sites on the subject, recently brought two looks to my attention that are exactly how I think the casually fashionable man should be dressing during the blindingly-hot days of summer.

First, the new Madras collection from APC. It's simple, straightforward, but just sophisticated enough to make it an incredibly stylish choice. Notice the way they combine either patterned shorts with solid tops, or vice versa, to keep the outfits fun and summer-ish without being too loud.

And speaking of loud, that brings us to the Comme des Garcons x Fred Perry from Dover Street Market. This is the time of year when you can get away with something bright, colorful and comfortable, and this look is just how to do it right.

So don't fear the heat, dudes. You can now keep cool and look cool all summer long.

Dude, can you pull off pink pants?

Filed under: Stores We Love, Men

Yes, I know, you're sitting there asking: "do I want to pull off pink pants?"

And it's true, the look isn't for everyone. I wouldn't recommend these for anyone who isn't trying to get noticed and/or doesn't mind looking a little metro. But combined with the right shoes, and a no-nonsense top, I think it's possible to look impressively stylish without completely compromising your masculinity.

I think The Coherent sums it up just right when he writes: "One might find the pink pant too unachievable or an item that looks good only in magazines. While those notions are utterly correct and rational, one can pull off this look if the color is soft, just as above. But, yes, it can be a challenge."

Think you've got what it takes? It's on sale at H&M for Spring, listed in their catalog at £24.99 (about $50).
