Loving the New Balance Burnout Tee

Filed under: Clothing, Product Reviews, Must Haves

new balanceWe admit, we used to work out in our oldest, most comfortable (sometimes most holey) sweats. But that all changed once we road tested some of New Balance's innovative, not to mention stylish, new gear.

Running replaces sex as #1 recommended weight control method in Japan

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

A new trend is taking over the streets of Japan, literally. People are running in huge numbers, particularly young women who live in the cities.

The fad is especially strong in trendy Tokyo, where women's corporate marathon clubs are meeting before and after work to do a few laps around the Imperial Palace. The main goal is to "stay healthy, pretty and sane" with the extra benefit of getting to show off special marathon gear from Danskin and New Balance.

Tender toes tout Pure Care diabetic relief socks

Joy Division running shoes

When you think of the über-dark, post-punk sounds of Joy Division, do you think of jogging?

Thanks to New Balance, now you can! The band's iconic design, that's been previously borrowed by Urban Outiftters for a trendy t-shirt design, is now featured on the sole of these new cross-trainers. Oddly, while this company is known for producing comfortable footwear, I'm not sure I'd rank them as the hippest or most fashionable crew in the sneaker market. Nevertheless, here we are.

They're on sale in the UK now. No word on if and when they'll be released in the US.

I'm not sure if this is awesome, or the lamest thing I've ever seen in my life. As Gawker notes: "Yeah, that's how we always pictured Ian Curtis (former Joy Division lead singer) ... Right up until the moment he hanged himself."

Um.
