New Kids video debuted over the weekend

Filed under: Style in the News, Videos, Celebrities with Style

The trouble with being a teenage pop star is that you start running out of money in your mid 30's -- then you have to get the boy band back together and go on a totally lame reunion tour. So it is with NKOTB, but at least they're their latest look is way more fashionable than the old terrible haircuts and acid-washed jeans.

Their first video in 14 years starts out like a commercial for some new Tommy Hilfiger fragrance or boxer-briefs. Thankfully, the director didn't opt for any scenes with the aging icons in their skivvies. We have to assume that the boy band -- now man band -- is getting in on some of this fashion designer sponsorship payola, but we're not sure who's dressing them yet.

No real surprises here, the music still sucks. The main difference between this version of NKOTB and the last is: it's starting to get really creepy. Get a load of that yacht that Joey is hanging out on. Nice touch.

New Kids on the Block style: Then and now

In case you didn't know, the New Kids on the Block are back. They performed last week live on the Today show (in the pouring rain, mind you, and with horrible acoustics), and the reviews have been somewhat mixed -- they didn't sound as great as they did back in the day, but seriously, the acoustics were really awful.

One thing that is for sure is that their style has done a complete 180. NKOTB is looking sharp, sticking to black and white tailored clothing instead of the more urban style they adopted when they truly were New Kids.

Check out the gallery to see how their style has changed, and let us know what you think -- are you excited to have the New Kids on the Block back? Because we're ready to dig out our little black hat and cover our jean jackets with oversized buttons over here. Or at least go see a reunion concert.

Just when you thought New Kids on the Block were long gone...

Fortunately, New Kids on the Block -- aka NKOTB -- won't be making a comeback anytime soon. But, while the group is no longer producing music, they're still popping up in the fashion world -- although, these days, anything adorned with New Kids' faces is considered "vintage," and targeted at adults instead of tweens. (Doesn't that make you feel old?)

Like this Joey Mcintyre t-shirt, found in the sale section of Urban Outfitters' website. What better way to prove that you're a honest-to-goodness grown-up than by making an ironic statement about your nerdy grade school years?

Every single girl in my elementary school was obsessed with Joey, Donnie, and the rest of the gang -- so, of course, all the boys hated them. Thus, for old times sake, I'm required to remark that Joey was a funny-looking kid, and that is the dumbest hat I've ever seen.

However, it's also worth noting that because Mr. Mcintyre is an enormous geek, it makes the shirt all the more wearable.

So buy the shirt, and feel confident that You Got The Right Stuff.
