Fur Tastic - Tip of the Day!

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Despite PETA throwing flour on LiLo and continually hating on the Olsen twins, fur is still everywhere this season. And the crazier the better. Throw one of these babies on and you'll instantly be catapulted into rock star status. Read on to for tips on how to really rock a fur, what to look for when buying and our five favorites furs.

Must have bling of the day: ASOS spike bracelet

Filed under: Accessories, Steals and Deals, Must Haves

We loved the jewelry Robert Lee Smith designed for Mary Kate and Ashley's clothing line Elizabeth and James...especially the dagger necklace. But at $525, it's a bit much to spend on a piece of costume jewelry.

Are you Influenced by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Product Reviews, Books, Daily Obsession, Must Haves

After months of anticipation, we finally received our very own copy of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's not-just-for-your-coffee-table book. And, as expected, we love it. Influence is a hardcover masterpiece – featuring interviews with the world's most famous designers, artists, photographers, and taste-makers including: designer Diane von Furstenberg, shoe maven Christian Louboutin, and cheeky photographer Terry Richardson.

As Ashley explained: "We want this book to be something that is filled with interesting things about the art world and fashion. I'd like to think that this book is inspiring people to read about or focus on other things than just the over-saturated, scandal-driving media."

Mary-Kate Olsen's lazy style

Mary-Kate OlsenMary-Kate Olsen is utterly baffled as to why she's considered a fashion icon (and that makes two of us). Women all over the world have been inexplicably drawn to her "homeless chic" style of giant, layered dresses and sweaters, but apparently, MK's trendsetting status came about entirely by accident.

The Olsens twins unite with Steve Madden

Filed under: Style in the News

Elizabeth and James is the slightly more affordable line by billionaire sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. So far, they've only been able to churn out ripped denim pieces, super soft Ts, feathered skirts, and boy cut blazers. But it appears that may be changing:

Last Week, the twins announced that they would be teaming up with Steve Madden to design a range of shoes for E&G that will make their grand debut in America sometime next year. And just in case you've been following the dramatics following the two sisters working relationship, both will in fact be co-directors for the new range.

While the Olsens are collaborating with king of affordable designer knock-offs, don't expect the shoes to cost the same as the one Madden drops every season. Sigh.

Rich & Infamous: Snoop Dogg launches a celebrity clothing line

Joining the ever growing list of celebrities cashing in on their name recognition, Snoop Dogg -- a celebrity with one of the coolest names ever -- has teamed up with superstar CEO Robert Thorne to sling his own celebrity endorsed streetwear called "Rich and Infamous". According to Thorne (the guy behind the Olsens' clothing empire), the line is inspired by Snoop's "trend-savvy classic vision," but here's how Snoop explains the concept:

"It's a fraternity of sorts, from presidents to gangsters-who've been able to endure the burden of gaining wealth at any cost. Garnering equal parts admiration and disdain, these men savor the fruits and relish the spotlight."

The website is up, and so far -- we're kinda underwhelmed. The styles don't exactly scream "rich" or "infamous" to us. It's mostly just t-shirts -- and really overpriced ones at that. At least Snoop's totally candid about the fact that he's in it for the money. In a way, it's kind of refreshing -- though we seriously doubt that slapping his name on a clothing line will be the hardest buck he's ever made.

PETA: send the Olsens some birthday hair

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

It's been a while since PETA came up with an idea hilarious enough to win us over, but this one has truly awesome/disgusting/ridiculous potential. It's centered around the fact that it's the Olsen twins' birthday this Friday -- the 13th -- and PETA wants the twins to receive some freaky gifts in the mail. Their idea: to have all fur-haters send them a birthday package containing some hair clippings and a note that says 'please, use my hair instead of the animals.'

Nicknamed the Trollsen Twins by PETA's Olsen-hating website -- Hairy Kate and Trashley -- the animal rights group apparently hates them because they use fur in the celebrity clothing line. We're OK with fur, but we think we might send some beard trimmings anyway -- just for a laugh. The sad thing about this gag is knowing that some poor intern will end up being the one to open all the disgusting hair packages.

Tip of the day: Learn how to look like you're supposed to be milking cows

Filed under: Hair Care, Style Tip of the Day

It seems like easy breezy boho is here to stay, which makes us lazy folk very happy. We've all had a couple of years to get this look down pat but we haven't quite figured out what to do with our hair. That is until the fateful day we spotted a handful of starlets like Ashley Olsen, Nicole Richie, Sienna Miller, and Rachel Bilson supporting a milkmaid braid. Gloooorious.

Olsen twins adding jewelry to their Elizabeth and James line

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Alright, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, we get it -- you want to get your tiny little hands in everything. Clothing, make-up, and now jewelry -- before you know it, we're going to be eating itty-bitty Olsen frozen dinners and washing them down with their own brand of vodka.

And we kind of can't wait for that. But, in the meantime, we can focus on the fact that the world's most homeless-looking billionaires have started working with award-winning jewelry designer Robert Lee Morris on a line of jewelry for their Elizabeth and James clothing line.

Their new jewelry line will include dagger necklaces and other chunky accessories, and will be called Robert Lee Morris for Elizabeth and James. We should be seeing the launch within a few months, but in the meantime, you can check out some of Robert Lee Morris' other work to get an idea of what to expect!

Helena Bonham-Carter and the tale of the scary hair day(s)

Filed under: Hair Care, Celebrities with Style

The shiny perfection of a professional blowout is dreamy. We figure that's the best part about being a celeb, having a stylist to do your hair and make up before every appearance. The mystery is why, in the name of St. Joan Rivers On The Red Carpet, do so many of them show up with ratty hair and unflattering makeup?

Stylelist has a post about good hair/bad hair with some doozies. The Olsens are definitely big offenders, but they have nothing on Helena Bonham-Carter. We adore her, but her hair...words fail.

We know everyone can't be Cate Blanchett, but the world would be a better place if more of them tried to. Revisit Helena's many dramatic "appearances" in the gallery.

Stylist Poll: To turban or not to turban

Today's poll over at sister site StyleList is Would You Wear a Turban? Thank you Olsen Twins and Prada, for another trip to Unwearable Village.

It's our opinion that you may only wear a turban:
Otherwise, no.

Worst dressed celebrities of the year

InTouch did a reader poll to find out which female celebrity deserves the title of Worst Fashion Offender of the year. Obviously the Olsen twins won. Is anyone really surprised by that?

But, there were a few shockers too. Victoria Beckham was on the list. Personally, I think she dresses well. Her style isn't all that original, but it's certainly not bad enough to be considered offensive!

Anyways, the rundown goes like this: Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Courtney Love, Sharon Stone, Victoria Beckham, Tilda Swinton, Lindsay Lohan, Amy Winehouse. Let's discuss.

Courtney Love and Sharon Stone are basically permanent hot messes. All in favor of their placement on the list say, "Ay." AY!!!!

Lindsay Lohan has long since worn out the welcome of leggings as part of fashion. They were cute for about a minute, when properly placed underneath long tunic tops or short dresses -- not as pants.

Amy Winehouse constantly looks dirty and drugged, so I think it's safe to say she probably doesn't even realize what she's wearing half the time. I feel like we can't hold her responsible for the horrible fashion choices she has made.

Tilda Swinton isn't enough of a Hollywood player to be on this list (and I do mean fashion wise, because I realize she's an amazing actress). Sure, her Oscar dress was bad. Really bad. But, aside from that can you actually remember any other outfit she's worn to any other event? I doubt it.

The choice of Victoria Beckham totally confuses me, but I already said that. And, as for the Olsen twins, love 'em or hate 'em, they always keep people in the fashion world talking.

Do you disagree or agree with the women on this list?

Live like the Olsen twins (for $12 million)

Filed under: Haute Home, Celebrities with Style

Ever dreamed of living like a celebrity -- partying like a rock star in the city, then crashing at your fabulous apartment with gorgeous views overlooking downtown Manhattan? Yeah, I have too. Now you can know how the stars live -- even take a tour of one of their fancy shmancy apartments. But if you want to have it all for your very own, you'll need to pony up $12 million.

That's how much Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen are asking for their swanky apartment in the West Village. It's a great location, amazing view, etc -- but I hope whoever buys it doesn't get stuck with their decor. It's almost uber-retro-chic, but still looks way too much like a high school girl's bedroom for any self-respecting grown-up to live there. The combination of these two drastically different design aesthetics is a total train wreck.

The twins design some decent clothing, so it's a little surprising that they can't the inside of the apartment look halfway decent. For $12 million, I think I'd be looking elsewhere.

Ashley Olsen gettin' it on with Lance Armstrong?

Half of the world's most famous pair of fashion twins has been spotted with Lance Armstrong lately. Gossip columnists seem convinced that it's Ashley, but I still can't tell those Olsen sisters apart -- so who knows which twin has actually been engaging in serious PDA with the Tour de France champion.

Could this mean The Row will start making cycling gear? Probably not. But will it mean Lance Armstrong will be totally creeped out every time he watches Full House re-runs -- realizing that the first time he saw 3-year-old Michelle Tanner nauseate audiences with "You got it, dude!" he was in high school?

Absolutely.

Leggings go latex

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

latex leggingsLeggings are here to stay for the time being. Like any other style that has a shelf life of more than a year, it must evolve. The evolutionary chain for leggings is pretty short because they will always just be a really tight bottom. The only factors you can really change are their fabrication and the length. This fall leggings have done just that.

The newest leggings to be seen in are extra long latex leggings. Celebrities like Mischa Barton and the Olsen twins have been spotted around tinsel town wearing these glam rock inspired leggings. Celebrities aren't the only ones either; famous fashion designer/ stylist Patricia Field is selling them on her site as well as online super-retailer Shop Bop.

I have to say, as insane as they look I do like them. These leggings are great for an over-the-top rocker look, as well as tamer more casual look.

I will warn you to please wear with these latex leggings with caution, they aren't for everyone. If you wear them the wrong way you could end up looking like a bad Halloween costume, and no one wants to see you look like that.
