From the Fragrance Frontlines: Tea Party with Jitrois, Perfect Rose Gardens, and Paris Hilton in Cannes

Senior Fashion Editor Sarah Cristobal has been on assignment in France to discover what goes into creating the world's top fragrances. Read her previous blogs about traveling to perfumeries in Paris, and observations about the ooh la la of French culture.

The Axe experience didn't end with learning how their leather-inspired fragrance, Instinct, is made. We got to talk leather with the premier stretch leather couturier of France, Jean-Claude Jitrois at the Cafe de la Paix. He arrived in a black blazer of his own design with a matching razor tie and -- vis-à-vis his translator -- explained the following:

1) He enjoys the psychology of dressing and what it says about a person. As he said this, he looked around the room and we all attempted to suck in our stomachs and avert his fixed glare.

FiFi Awards Fragrance Gossip - Doug Reinhardt

Filed under: Fragrance, Celebrities with Style

Paris with boyfriend Doug Reinhardt. Photo: Jemal Countess / WireImage.

First off, full disclosure: I happen to have a crush on Doug Reinhardt. Blame it on my avid viewership of Laguna Beach and The Hills. Have you heard of him? (He used to date Amanda Bynes before Paris Hilton, his current flame.) Since our lovely readers always want great gift ideas for their guys, I thought I'd ask Doug what he thinks about buying a guy cologne:

StyleList: "Is cologne a good gift for a guy? Is that a safe bet?"

Doug: "I think It's a good gift...a guy can never have too much cologne."

StyleList: "Do you wear any of Paris' men's scents?"

Doug: "I do. I wear Air. It's very good."

At that point, the FiFi's were just about to start and Paris and Doug were called inside. But next up I have some quick bits from Mary J. Blige and Queen Latifah.

In the meantime, here are two inside bits of gossip I wanted to leak out to our loyal StyleList blog readers:

Head Strong - Hat Designer Eugenia Kim Gives StyleList Her Top(per) Secrets

Head Games at the Derby

Shielded from the derby jungle by a white veil, Brooke looks like she's wearing cupcake frosting.

Never one for subtlety, Star was the view at this weekend's festivities.

When Kim K. looks downright demure, you know something's off. Or it must be the Derby.

The singer strikes again! With all due R-E-S-P-E-C-T, it appears a spaceship has landed.

    Paul J. Richards, AFP/Getty Images

We think we've seen that hat before. Only it was a dress. In a John Hughes movie. (We also thought the hanging planter was part of the hat. Not a stretch.)

    Jamie Squire, Getty Images

Honey, I blew up the shower cap! There's nothing little about this Bow Peep look.

    Robert Meggers, Getty Images

Check out the horsing around on this dude's flower-adorned fedora.

This just might be stranger than the original Twin Peaks. And maybe he should've considered a modeling career-balancing a book has nothing on this!

    Jamie Squire, Getty Images

This twisted sister isn't clowning around. We're sure Jerry Garcia would be proud, tough her headpiece is far from dead.

    Andy Lyons, Getty Images

So, we don't know the first thing about horse racing and can't really comprehend why anyone would bet on a 50-1 horse (the odds of under dog horse and surprise Kentucky Derby winner "Mine That Bird"). But we did tune in to the 135th KD on Saturday... for the hats! They're so ridiculous and over the top, that we have to admit it's become one of our favorite spectator sports.

Okay, so a balloon animal headpiece might not fly outside the annual gathering of one-uppers, but don't let that burst your hat bubble! StyleList talked to hat designer extraordinaire, Eugenia Kim (eugeniakim.com) -- whose toppers have been worn by stars including Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Ashlee Simpson, who all opted for the "Muffy" equestrian cap, and Mary J. Blige (who wears EK's "Scarlett" hat on the cover of her multi-platinum album "Reflections - A Retrospective") -- about more realistic spring options.

StyleList: What is the hat for Spring/Summer '09?

Eugenia Kim: I would have to say that the hat for Spring/Summer 09 is our "MAX 1" straw hat (an ivory fedora with black ruched crystal mesh band). This hat is our number one best seller for the season, and it fits great on everyone! It even comes with other color options which makes it more 'wearable' and versatile.

Paris Hilton's Gams Take the Grammys

Revealing on the Red Carpet

This ladies and gentlemen, is what a superstar looks like: Beyonce wearing the heck out of a deceptively simple looking black turtleneck dress at the Gotham Magazine gala. She's gorgeous!

This is what people are talking about when they praise Beyonce's curves. She looks like a fantasy creation, and even though she is as covered up as possible -- what kind of shoes is she even wearing? No one knows! -- nothing is left to the imagination.

And this is how you put together an outfit for an event. Her hair: striking -- pulled back, out of the way, not fighting with the dress. The only jewelry: bold but simple earrings. She's not even wearing her 18 carat engagement ring, just some shiny red nail polish.

She is, however, wearing 10 pounds of "You're damn right I'm fabulous" attitude, which is what really puts this in the StyleFab history books for us. Sasha Fierce rulz!

    Getty Images

Of course, Beyonce isn't the only celeb who goes revealing on the red carpet. The question is: Who pulls it off, and who's revealing too much?

Rose McGowan's barely-there "dress" is a little (OK a lot) too much.

    Getty Images

Keira Knightley's tattered rags look like a stiff breeze could make the actress considerably less decent.

    Getty Images

Someone should've told Gwyneth Paltrow that you can see right through that dress -- and we'd prefer not to.

    Getty Images

That's an interesting place for see-through fabric -- fortunately Teri Hatcher can make anything look amazing.

    Getty Images

Backs are sexy, butt cracks are not -- even when it's Heidi Klum's.

    Getty Images

Tess Smith leaves very little to the imagination with this super-skimpy wrap-dress-thing.

    Getty Images

Anne Hathaway appears to have forgotten something -- it's called a bra.

    Getty Images

Kate Bosworth uses some strategically-placed stripes to conceal her private parts.

    Getty Images

Uma Thurman also seems to have forgotten her undergarments.

    Getty Images

Paris Hilton has never been described as demure (that we know of, at least.) But the ultra-mini the socialite wore to Sunday night's Grammy Awards took her status as a short-skirt devotee to a new level.

The Best of Sundance

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Celebrities with Style

The Sundance Film Festival is known for showcasing the best in independent and documentary films. But it's famed for the parties and schwag!

If you weren't in Washington, D.C. preparing for Barack Obama to become our nation's 44th president, Park City, Utah was the place to be. Everyone from Anna Wintour (who was spotted at the airport in head-to-toe fur, but made a stunning debut at "The September Issue" premiere wearing a pair of jeans) to Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher (star of "Spread") treaded through the snowy terrains to celebrate Sundance's 25th anniversary.

DJ AM got the crowd rocking at the opening night of the "AXE Fix Club" and Paris Hilton took full advantage of the schwag, spotted in the Sephora Beauty Lounge, among others - where she had her choice of Sephora Brand goodies like Eye Studio Kits and Lash Plumper Mascara. Check out our Best of Sundance gallery to see some of the celebs who attended the festival. - Phebe Hunnicutt & Dana Oliver
