Raf Simons for Dr. Martens

Raf Simons for Doc Martens boot sandal thingHe may have dazed and amazed us with his designs for Jil Sander in Milan last month, but we're a little less sure about Raf Simon's latest artistic collaboration with Doc Martens. Particularly, we're not quite sold on these wild and crazy boot/sandals. High shine patent leather is tricky to begin with. Add those trademark clunky AirWair soles and you've really got a highly unique sandal.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Block Heel Pumps - Must Have!

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

We're firm believers in splurging when it comes to the classics -- and what's more classic than black mid-heel pumps? But when we found these Marc by Marc Jacobs heels on sale we knew we had to tell you about it, STAT.

Must-have shoes - Singerson Morrison for Target Fierce patent booties

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

The bootie is the "it" shoe for the season - and we have to admit that while we're not 100% sold on the look, we have seen a few ladies pulling it off very well. We think it may be time to experiment, and these booties by Singerson Morrison for Target are just the shoes we've been looking for.

Shoes of the day - Marc by Marc Jacobs Patent Mary Janes

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

We love Marc Jacobs (isn't it obvious?), and we love colorful flats, so we're sure you're shocked that we're highlighting this pair of mary janes - but can you blame us? The contrasting elastic strap is such a modern and comfortable take on the classic style and the candy apple red patent leather looks good enough to eat.

Mmmm...candy apples....

Shoes of the day - Stuart Weitzman 'Max" peep toe pump

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

There's something so deliciously naughty about peep toe heels - add patent leather (in red!) and the sexiness quotient of these shoes just goes through the roof! That is why we'd probably never wear these Stuart Weitzman heels with a miniskirt or even tight jeans - it's just too obvious. But adding these to a more demure outfit? Now you're talking!

Shoes of the day: J. Crew Salina patent leather ballet flats

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

While flipping through the August issue of British Vogue we came across an article where the writer (a self-proclaimed stiletto addict) reluctantly acknowledges that flats are currently having their moment under the fashion sun. She was forced to wear flats for six months due to a surgical procedure, and she basically admits that it wasn't that bad.

What? WHAT!

The $50 flip flop near miss

As we mentioned in an earlier post, this weekend we had a blister emergency. After a false start, Band Aids saved the day, but we still wandered into Banana Republic, like a zombie, to see if they had inexpensive backless sandals we could buy and wear out of the store.

We're shaking our heads at ourselves, even writing that.

Oh, please, admit you've done the same thing, possibly more than once. It's slightly less reprehensible when you buy the $4 red checkered material flip flops at Walgreens, but it's the same behavior. Blowing cash on an impulse buy is practically a national pass-time.

The new Coach bag: Ergo

At last a Coach bag without that extra ten pounds of crazy brass hardware weighing it down. We've loved the style of Coach for years, but our little shoulders, or our habit of carrying everything in the world in our bag, kept us from ever getting one.

The company finally figured out that they're missing a target market, Bag Crazy Bag Ladies, and came out with a new line called "Ergo" which is short for ergonomic. Lightweight, soft, with clean lines, we're very tempted by these bags. They're still crazy expensive, but the Coach story has always been "you'll have it forever" so maybe that works for you. Prices and some pretty colors in the gallery.

When you check out the site, make sure to click on the awesome "Try this bag on" feature on the site. It shows you the scale of the bag on an average woman, both holding it in your hand and on your shoulder.
