Why Aren't You Throwing This? The Bush Shoe

Filed under: Style in the News, Shoes, Men

Ramazan Baydan holds the Bush ShoeNever in human history has men's footwear been revolutionized by a single act that lasted only about 4 seconds. But ever since that Iraqi reporter chunked a shoe at the President, "The Bush Shoe" -- formerly known as the Ducati Model 271 -- has become one of hottest pair of kicks on the planet. Seemingly overnight, the Istanbul-based Baydan Group has received orders for over 370,000 pairs of the infamous black shoes from all over the globe.

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

When starting a business, we understand that some folks might want to change their last names to avoid being associated with their families -- you know, if they had last names like Manson or Dahmer. But what about political associations? What if you were related to President Bush?

Jenna Bush gets married, wears a rockin' dress

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Jenna Bush got married this weekend at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas, and we're sure her new husband, Henry Hager, had no regrets as to his choice when he saw her walking down the aisle. Jenna was dressed in an Oscar de la Renta gown that we just loved -- it had a simple silhouette, but an intricate design with embroidered organza and matte beading from the very top to the end of her chapel-length train.

Not everyone looked so sharp, however -- check out the gallery to see what we loved and what we could've done without.

Celebrity style at the White House Correspondents' Dinner

We have a lot of fashion to talk about. Celebrities attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner, which was rumored not to be "A-listy" enough for Heidi Montag. Apparently she did end up going (in the exact same outfit she wore last week), if anybody cares, but we're more worried about what everybody wore to the big event!

Etiquette: the diplomatic shoulder massage

Filed under: Style in the News

One thing is for certain, if you are ever in the presence of the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, don't try to give her a shoulder massage. The results could be both awkward and embarrassing -- as was discovered by President Bush during the Group of 8 summit this week in St. Petersburg. In case you haven't seen the video on YouTube, Bush walked up behind Merkel, placed his hands on her shoulders and gave her a quick shiatsu squeeze. The chancellor, in turn, threw up her arms in protest.

Politics aside, there is a lesson to learned from the president's diplomatic gaffe. In mixed company and especially in the work-place, standards of touching are always in the eye of the beholder. So unless you want to run the risk of getting accused of creating a "hostile work environment," you are better off going with a touch-neutral physical interaction.

After all, wouldn't the president have been better off giving Merkel the old, "Up high, down low, oh, too slow" hand-slap?
