Tim Gunn emceeing at Fashion Forward

We caught up with Tim Gunn last night at Fashion Forward, a fabulous fashion show featuring Betsey Johnson, Michael Bastian, Tim Hamilton, Charles Nolan, Ports 1961 by Tia Cibani, and John Varvatos, all to benefit Gay Men's Health Crisis. Tim was very busy hosting, but he made time to talk to us. Could we love him any more?

Of course everyone loves Tim Gunn. When we told a friend we were interviewing the famous fashion icon, she said "Ooooh! Please tell him I want him to be my dad!" (Sorry Jenn, unfortunately there wasn't time.)

The Project Runway Season Five Finale: Leanne is the winner!

Filed under: Style in the News

As our father would tell us right before our softball games, go hard or go home. And last night, all three finalists -- Kenley, Korto, and Leanne -- stepped up their game and left everything on the Bryant Park runway. Our girl Kenley, as usual, didn't disappoint with her bad attitude and otherwise rude comments. She was especially nasty last night, telling the judging panel when he asked why she, well, straight up jacked the easily recognizable designs of Alexander McQueen and Balenciaga and pretended as if she was their original brain child: "Well, maybe I need to do some research." No, duh.

Not surprisingly, the judges sent her home packing (and crying) first. Once it was down to just Korto and Leanne, we knew this contest was over. Leanne -- the one with the timid personality, greasy hair, and charming designs -- was the champion this season. Yay! Her immaculately tailored collection of folded (har!) pastel dresses, jackets, tops, and skirts made everyone smile in the front row.

In our gallery, swoon over our favorite pieces from Leanne's oh so lovely spring line. Yes, people. We think a star has been born!

Preview: Project Runway season five finale!

Filed under: Style in the News

Guess what? Tomorrow night is the finale of the fifth season of Project Runway! Eek! For the first time in the show's history, all three finalists are women. Girl power! If we had to guess who was going to take home the grand prize, our finger points towards Leanne. Her designs, for the most part, have been the best executed and her ultra feminine aesthetic is bound to attract many a fashionista, which is great when you're trying to build a brand and attract buyers.

Leanne Marshall Project Runway winner

Filed under: Style in the News

Leanne will win Project Runway. Although Korto and Kenley are both wonderful talents, Leanne brings structure and lightness together in a way too incredible to deny. Throughout the season she was dead on and her flawless finale at Bryant Park was no exception.

BT Couture Collection - toilet paper dresses that benefit Breast Cancer Awareness

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Style for a Cause

Anyone who's been to a bridal shower has probably made at least one wedding dress or veil out of toilet paper. It's a surprisingly difficult material to work with, but in the hands of professionals, the results can be surprisingly pretty!

Kenley cries on Regis and Kelly

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes, Interviews

Kenley Collins of Project RunwayKenley Collins appeared yesterday on Regis and Kelly, along with the rest of the (then) remaining designers on this season's Project Runway.

The clip Regis and Kelly rolled included Kenley saying:

"It's a little annoying that the other three designers hate me"..."It just makes me wanna win this even more, and beat these other designers to the ground."

Shame on you Regis and Kelly! What a faux pas! Rolling that clip with Kenley sitting there in next to those very same designers! Still, she did say it...

Anyway, then she started to cry as Kelly interrogated her. Read on.

Heidi Klum wears square shoulders, so why can't you? Tip of the day!

We have noted a mini trend of sorts on fashionable ladies like Heidi Klum, Anne Hathaway, and Chloe Sevigny – the square shouldered dress.

Phoenix Fashion Week: Attention Project Runway junkies!

Remember the cute, quirky little Emily Brandle from season 5? The one that was outed in Episode 3? Though the season hasn't even ended (in the television world anyway), Emily has already managed to design a new collection entitled "Smoke and Mirrors" and has scored a top spot in Phoenix Fashion Week.

Founder and organizer Brian Hill says that, "Her (Emily's) experience with "Project Runway" and her outstanding new line make her a perfect participant for this year's collection line up."

So often we find ourselves wondering what happens to these designers. We're so glad Emily has resurfaced and from what we've seen so far, we can't wait to see the rest!

Phoenix Fashion Week: What's up.

Think NYC is the only city with fashion week fetes? Think again! Dozens of cities around the US are putting on their own shows and one of the brightest is right in Phoenix, Arizona.

Nearly 30 designers will showcase their best Holiday 2008 and/or Spring 2009 looks over 4 days from October 1 – 4. To boot there are trunk shows, trade shows, and "Get Discovered" networking so that any newbie can get a fair shake.

Though we are certainly a sucker for clothes, the best of Phoenix Fashion is the huge role that the Susan G. Komen Foundation plays throughout the four day fete. There are plenty of fun events – a Pink the City Mixer and the Perfectly Pink Show at the Royal Palms -- all of which directly benefit the Foundation.

Even project runway alum, Emily Miller will be there showcasing her new collection "Smoke and Mirrors."

Project Runway: "This girl does not look young, cool, or hip at all"

Filed under: Style in the News

Oh, snap! The contest is almost over ya'll and everyone is going down swinging. Last night, the designers had to create formal gowns inspired by nature. And lets just say, some of their looks should have never seen the light of day. As you all know, the contestant that was kicked off last night would be the only one out of the group of four who would not go on to show at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week. The judges asked each one before they made their final decision which other two designers -- along with themselves -- deserved to go.

As you all can imagine, all hell broke loose. In our gallery, check out all of the lows, highs, and losers from last night.

Lindsay Lohan to make a guest appearance on the sixth season of Project Runway

Filed under: Style in the News

Love her, hate her, wanna slap her, no one can knock the hustle of Lindsay Lohan. Not only has she successfully managed to convince some poor fashion souls that they can't go on living a fulfilling life without leopard print ankle tights, but she's also managed to score another spot on prime time television:

Next year, once Project Runway makes its transition from Bravo to Lifetime, the very first guest judge will none other than Lilo. No, we're not kidding. She is rumored to have shot the episode sometime last week.

We're going to reserve our judgments until we see the show. Until then, let's just pray the first challenge has nothing to do with making custom leggings and using copious amounts of self-tanner on the models.

Project Runway Epsiode 11: The designers face the music

Filed under: Style in the News

Can you guys believe it? After struggling to watch ten episodes of Project Runway this season, we finally got something good last night. No. really. This week, the designers ditched their normal impossibly thin mannequins for, drum roll please, themselves!

That's right. In this music themed show down, the designers had to design an outfit for each other based on th genre of music that was assigned to each of them. For example, Leanne had to turn Korto into a blue-blooded country music star and Jerell was forced to makeover that vile creature known as Kenley into a pop diva a la Britney Spears.

Oh, yes. Hilarity, bitchiness, and wild designs ensued immediately afterwards. In our gallery, check out all of the highs lows, and losers from last night.
