5 Favorite Celeb Clothing Lines - StyleLISTS

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style, StyleLISTS

Sienna Miller

Despite hard times, celebrities just keep pumping out clothing lines. And we keep eating them up. What we really dig about these lines in particular is that they are so similar to the designing star's everyday style. Readers always want to know just how to get their favorite celebs look. And now, with these collections, it is easier than ever. Even the stars themselves rock the line (check out the gallery). So who topped our list anyway?

Ashley Olsen gettin' it on with Lance Armstrong?

Half of the world's most famous pair of fashion twins has been spotted with Lance Armstrong lately. Gossip columnists seem convinced that it's Ashley, but I still can't tell those Olsen sisters apart -- so who knows which twin has actually been engaging in serious PDA with the Tour de France champion.

Could this mean The Row will start making cycling gear? Probably not. But will it mean Lance Armstrong will be totally creeped out every time he watches Full House re-runs -- realizing that the first time he saw 3-year-old Michelle Tanner nauseate audiences with "You got it, dude!" he was in high school?

Absolutely.

Be the Olsen twins' unpaid intern!

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Maybe you're interested in a career in the fashion industry, or maybe you've been obsessed with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen ever since Full House and you've been waiting your whole life for the chance to meet them in person. Whatever the case, now you can make your dreams come true, by working for twins' fashion label, The Row.

The pair recently put an ad on Craigslist for an intern, saying that all applicants should be able to do flat sketches, organize inventory for development and market samples, correspond with local factories, source fabric, find inspiration material, work on excel spreadsheets, run errands, put together tech packs, and source garment industry vendors.

Wow! Sounds like you'd practically be running the company. Only problem is, it's unpaid. So unless you're independently wealthy, you can look forward to days spent slaving away for the look-a-like fashion divas, and nights spent bartending so you can afford to pay rent.

"Puh-leeze!"

Mary-Kate and Ashley to debut new line? Ever?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

There's long been speculation about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's fashion line, The Row -- but despite all the hype, the world has yet to see any actual clothing (and seemed to losing interest). However, in the wake of Mary-Kate's recent freelance "writing" gig with the New York Times, I'll admit it: I care.

According to Women's Wear Daily, the new label is set to premiere at Paris Fashion Week, but -- because of what snarky media blog, Gawker, calls a "distrustful relationship with the press," the twins are providing a sneak preview of their fall-winter collection to high-end retailers -- no press allowed.

What's the verdict? Are you still interested? Are you over it? Are Mary-Kate and Ashley just annoying?

Olsen update: the online store

Filed under: Stores We Love, Style in the News, Clothing

A few weeks have passed since Ashley Olsen previewed her designer line "The Row" at a Barneys New York Party. And if one thing is true about the Olsens, they never stay out of the limelight for too long, lest we forget about them entirely. (Yeah, like that could happen with "Full House" in syndication...)

Not to disappoint, the Olsens just announced that their very first online retail store will launch on Monday. The so called shopmary-kateandashley.com (phew...talk about a complicated domain name!) will sell the Olsen's line of tween-marketed apparel. Until this point, mary-kateandashley (the brand's official name) was only sold in Wal-Mart stores and the British subsidiary Asda.

While I recognize that what makes the Olsen girls such amazing young business women is their ability to diversify, I'm not so sure they should be pushing their low-end clothing line at the same time that they are trying to create buzz for the expensive one. I mean, isn't it supposed to be the other way around -- a la Paul & Joe or Isaac Mizrahi?

Will Ash-can go mainstream?

Filed under: Stores We Love, Clothing

According to Fashionweekdaily.com, the Olsen twins are embarking on a new frontier for their conglomerate empire: a high-end fashion label. At a Balenciaga party held at Barneys last weekend, Ashley arrived sporting a plaid jacket of her own design.

While the specifics of Ashley's new line -- "The Row" -- remain a secret, the prospects for the fashion house of Olsen seem promising. If "The Row" is even half as good as the Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen toothpaste I once bought in a moment of sheer desperation, the line will be a smashing success.
