Stylish movies we love: The Avengers

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

First off, let me say, like many of you ladies out there, I *heart* Ralph Fiennes. I adored him in the English Patient, drooled over him in Quiz Show. Heck, I even thought he was hunky in Schindler's List. But my favorite Ralph movie has to be The Avengers.

Sure, the plot of the movie is a little preposterous -- evil Sean Connery creates a machine to rule the world by controlling weather patterns -- but one thing is for sure, the film has a great aesthetic. Based on the 1960s British television show of the same name, Fiennes plays the character of John Steed. Steed is an eccentrically suave British agent, who fights crime and generally looks unstoppable in a bowler hand and dapper black umbrella. (Sounds like Mr. Peanut, I know, but it works!)

If you can forgive the plot holes, and let the look of the film trump its substance (or lack there of), The Avengers is definitely a movie worth checking out.
