We love all of the amazing independent designers out there. In order to find out more about just what makes all of these creative types tick, we present to you an ongoing segment called Indie Designer Interviews.

Today's interview is with the talented New Orleans-based fashion designer Elsa Brodmann. Elsa designs modern, feminine ready to wear and bridal collections, as well as jewelry.

Want to get your hands on a piece of discount fashion and music memorabilia? Supermodel and actress Jerry Hall is auctioning off the dress she wore when she and Mick Jagger to their vows in Bali. Apparently, she's cleaning house and wants to unload about 70 items from her somewhat charmed fashion career. Supposedly, the dress is going to sell for somewhere between $600-$1000. That's not a typo. The proceeds are going to charity, and the prices are 'pre-specified' -- because Jerry wants them to be affordable.

Seriously, if it's for charity, why price it so low? That's less than lots of brides pay for their normal wedding dresses, much less a dress that a supermodel and a Rolling Stone did God knows what in. As you might imagine, most of the stuff that Jerry's getting rid of is high-end designer clothing, so almost everything in the auction is going to be a huge bargain. If we bought something, we'd totally flip it on Ebay.

Jenna Bush got married this weekend at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas, and we're sure her new husband, Henry Hager, had no regrets as to his choice when he saw her walking down the aisle. Jenna was dressed in an Oscar de la Renta gown that we just loved -- it had a simple silhouette, but an intricate design with embroidered organza and matte beading from the very top to the end of her chapel-length train.

Looking for a way to keep your wedding cheap but still totally original? You might be able to save yourself a major expense by making your own dress...from toilet paper.

I know -- it sounds awful -- but check out these photos. The women featured in them created wedding dresses made completely of toilet paper, tape and glue. All of the dresses are surprisingly beautiful -- complete with origami roses, pleats and weaves.

If this is something you'd like to try, be sure to enter your design in the annual contest held by cheap-chic-weddings.com. The winner gets a $500 prize, and there's smaller prizes for runner-ups. Not too shabby for something you made for less than $20 in TP and masking tape.

It seems that for many women if there's one day in you life to be ridiculously lavish, and spare no expense, it's your wedding. That was certainly the case for one bride in South China, who, on her big day, wore a dress with a 90ft train.

The $13,000 dress took 10 tailors to make it, 45 days to sew it, and 20 people to carry it.

Let's put this in perspective. That's 77 feet longer than Queen Elizabeth's gown, 65 feet longer than Princess Diana's gown, and three first downs on an American football field. E.nor.mous.

The original article is in Chinese, so I have no idea what it says, but I'm guessing this woman is either disgustingly rich, or won the dress in some kind of contest. Seeing as the train bearers are all wearing jeans and sneakers, I'm guessing it's the latter.

Either way, the gown is certainly impressive.

Would you wear a wedding dress made from a parachute? What if that parachute had saved your groom's life?

That's the story behind this gown, made from the nylon panels and cords of a parachute that helped a man safely escape a burning plane during WW II. According to the Smithsonian (where the dress is currently housed), "Maj. Claude Hensinger, a B-29 pilot, and his crew, were returning from a bombing raid over Yowata, Japan, in August 1944 when their engine caught fire. The crew was forced to bail out. During the night he used the parachute both as a pillow and a blanket. He kept the parachute and used it as a way to propose to Ruth in 1947. He presented it to her and suggested she make a gown out of it for their wedding."

I don't know much about wedding dresses, so I have no idea if this is good-looking or not. However, sometimes it's not the garment itself, but rather the story behind it, that makes it worth wearing -- and this story is just about perfect.

Besides, at least it wasn't a camouflage parachute. That might have been slightly less romantic.

When I got engaged and began the fun but overwhelming task of finding the perfect wedding dress, I got one piece of advice over and over. Women would tell me not to worry, that I would "know my dress when I found it," meaning that I would have absolutely no doubts, no second guessing, no wondering if I should visit just one more store.

Well, Elizabeth Hurley apparently does not subscribe to the traditional wedding dress advice I received. Ms. Hurley recently commissioned thirteen wedding dresses to be made for her big day, and reportedly hasn't felt a single qualm about the decision. Katie Holmes has followed suit, requesting (at last count) five dresses for her upcoming nuptials with Tom Cruise.
