Yumi Chen's kimono cloth jewelry
What makes the adorable designs of Yumi Chen unique are the way she has integrated her Japanese heritage into her designs by creating modern kimono cloth jewelry. Her necklaces and bracelets use beads made of kimono cloth using a technique called chirimen. The technique involves wrapping the cloth around a lightweight core and trimming each one to create a uniform look. Chen combines the cloth beads with Swarovksi crystals in a wide palette of colors. The necklace shown here uses mint/peach floral kimono beads along with peach Swarovski crystals and olive Swarovski pearls and sells for $170.
