Marc Jacobs loves models again

Filed under: Style in the News

You're in for a treat, dear readers. We have some major breaking news to report: Marc Jacobs' days of putting actresses in his ad campaigns seemed to be numbered. Hooray!

The designer recently told The Independent in an interview, "We're using models next season, we're not ready for Kevin & Britney yet."

Heidi Klum Too Nice to Be a Decent Actress

Heidi KlumAs successful supermodels often do, Heidi Klum decided to try adding a little character to her on-camera antics, and took a shot at being an actress. While she showed up in the occasional sitcom, and starred in the Life And Death Of Peter Sellers, you probably didn't see much of Klum on TV or in the movies.

Namely, because she isn't very good.

But according to Klum, her cheerful personality is to blame for her lackluster performances. "I'm not believable if I bitch at people and whine. I can't make myself cry; can't 'go to that place,' as they say. I'm a very happy person."

Not to burst your bubble, Heidi, but sad people aren't acting when they burst into tears -- that's real life. The point when pretending to be somebody else is to, you know, pretend.

But anyway, I'm glad to hear that the now former actress will be sticking to modeling -- as that's something she's obviously very good at.

Liv Tyler totally wants plastic surgery

A celebrity getting plastic surgery isn't exactly news -- but while nearly all of them seem to work done, most of them pretend as if they hadn't.

Not Liv Tyler. The actress recently told Allure magazine, "I'm definitely going to have some, I'm sure."

For Liv, it's all about getting her body back to where it was before the birth of her son, Milo -- because, as she puts it, "I have to make a living." In addition to her work as an actress (which, let's face it, requires having a freakishly well-kept figure), Tyler also models for Givenchy.

According to Tyler, if she didn't get plastic surgery, she'd be forced to "sell my house and go live a really simple life in a trailer somewhere." Given that Liv is not only famous in her own right, but is also the child of Steven Tyler (lead singer of Aerosmith) and Bebe Buell (supermodel), somehow, I don't think that's in the cards.

But I love that Liv is so upfront about how necessary (and difficult) it is for models and actresses to look how they're "supposed" to. Agree with it or not, when celebrities pretend these ridiculously high standards of beauty are easy to achieve, they're only making it worse on everyone who looks up to them, or wants to look like them. It's tough to get a body like that -- so why lie about it?

Jordache Jeans says "modern woman" with Elizabeth Hurley

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

jordache jeansRemember Jordache Jeans? Of course you don't! Like all of us, you were way too young to remember the designer jeans craze of the 1970s that was headed by the horse-emblazoned brand.

Jordache Jeans is re-vamping their image as a brand for the modern woman, and has picked up model-actress Elizabeth Hurley to star in print ads that will publish starting in September. Both the Jordache Vintage line, sold in high-end retail stores, and the new Jordache Legacy line, which will be sold exclusively through Macy's stores across the country, will be available this fall.

I'm just waiting for the comeback of Ooh-la-la Sasson!
