Filed under: Skin Care, Celebrities with Style, Green Fashion, Beauty Tips

adran grenierAs we've mentioned so many times before, we love when beauty and eco-consciousness collide.

And, when you throw a smokin' celebrity into the mix, well, there's just no better way to celebrate Earth Day. Kiehl's agrees, and the company that's been providing exceptional skin and hair care products for over 150 years is teaming up with several celebrities, including eco-hottie Adrian Grenier, to introduce its newest product.

Beards of the red carpet: grading the growth

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

The difficult thing about facial hair is maintaining a balance within your personal style -- not letting the beard take control. A beard that's out of control can make you look pretty silly, and you'd do better to shave that sucker off rather than be caught wearing it. I've seen cases wear once sharp-dressing, clean-shaven guys decided to grow a beard, and pretty soon it was flannel and torn t-shirts -- and they never came back.

For better or worse, stars set the tone in the world of men's facial hair -- it's not necessarily a bad thing. It allows us to take cues from them and their stylists, converting them into lessons about our own shaving techniques. When Russell Crowe grows a beard and it looks cool, every dude on the street quits shaving. Then again, sometimes celebrities screw it up -- then we can make fun of them and feel superior.

The grading system for celebrity beards is simple: it consists of 3 variables. First, is there a reasonably good balance between their facial hair and their hairstyle? Second, is the beard in harmony with the rest of the outfit? The third variable is the interpretive factor, i.e. what's the beard doing for them? and how effective is it?

Adrian Grenier says vintage is green

Being green is hot right now and Adrian Grenier is in the know! The bearded boy wonder attended the Global Green USA 5th pre-Oscar Party held at Avalon last week and talked about being fashionable and saving the world. He said, "People don't realize it, but buying vintage is inherently green."

Vintage has had a huge following in the fashion world for a long time now. It's true that most people don't buy vintage because they think it's good for the environment, they buy vintage items in order to get a certain look.

But, come on now, reduce, reuse, recycle -- there's no reason why that can't apply to fashion!

Fashionistas of the world, listen to Adrian Grenier. If you want to do your part to keep the Earth healthy, vintage is the way to go.

Adrian Grenier: beard out balance

Beards have been cool for a while now, so you get no extra points just for impersonating Grizzly Adams. To pull off the beard these days, you have to walk a fine line. There's a golden proportion for how much hair you can have on your head vs. your face. If you decide to let both the hair and beard go crazy, you end up with an equation that looks like this: beard+shaggy hair= hungover frat boy (or vagrant).

I think Adrian Grenier is pulling off the drunken frat dude look pretty well -- it kinda suits him. I guess you could consider his friends on Entourage a fraternity of sorts -- and he has been hanging out with sleezy chicks Lohan.

As of yet, his beard is too short and his clothes are not soiled enough to go vagrant style. He might be able to pass for a cast member of Lost, though. Do I smell a cameo? Or is that just beard funk?
