Vivienne Westwood: dropping an awesome CD on us momentarily

Filed under: Style in the News

Grand Dame Vivienne Westwood is impossibly cool. The orange-haired style maven, who brought punk style to the masses, protests all injustices in our society, and designs a mean tartan blazer, is prepping to takeover iTunes with her new album.

Aptly entitled Catwalk Breakdown, the British designer put together quite a funky mixtape, which includes everything from The New York Dolls' Personality Crises to Tchaikovsky's Sugar Plum Fair. On her journey into music, Westwood said: "My clothes always tell a story... And I choose the music accordingly. Sometimes the music can just be sexy, it can let you relax, look at the clothes, put people into a fantastic mood."

All those able to get an invite to the "exclusive" London Fashion Week event taking place at Selfridges today will be able to walk away with an enviable goodie bag as well as the rocking mixtape by Westwood.

Carla Bruni, the coolest first lady ever?

Filed under: Style in the News

Here's one more reason to continue your girl crush on supermodel-turned first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy:

Earlier this week, her agent, Bertrand de Labbey, confirmed that Carla would be releasing her third (as-yet-untitled) album this July. But don't think the beautiful Parisian will be crooning about her times as France's coolest first lady. Featuring tracks with names like Junk, About Drugs and Love Song, the album promises to raise many eyebrows.

On the racy tracks, Carla's agent says: "Ninety-five per cent of the songs on the album were written before she met the president. The voice tracks are done but the album still needs some sound mixing. It's just a matter of perfecting it but, as she is a perfectionist, it will take time."

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Designer Eric Crandell, based in Southern California, aims to bridge "the gap between art, music, and fashion." His art graces album covers as well as t-shirts that can be found at 101 Apparel.

The quote featured on the website reads: "Bringing people back to when art/music was raw...still developing...at its best."
