Psychedelic Summer Ahead?

Sometimes following super hip fashion trends feels like we're watching a really jumbled up episode of Quantum Leap, or better, one of this season's Lost episodes. For awhile, we were stuck in the 80's, then we warp back to the early 90's for a few months, and now rumor has it that we're headed back to the psychedelic 60's. Trippy tees, day-glow colors, and yes -- maybe even bell bottoms -- are in some forecasts for summer '09.

Shoes of the day - Belle by Singerson Morrison 5631

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

We must admit that we haven't been completely sold on the ankle boot trend until now, but these babies may have us jumping on the bandwagon. Most of the booties out there look like they started life as full-sized boots but had an unfortunate encounter with a pair of scissors. It just doesn't look right. However, this pair by Singerson Morrison cleverly show off the fact that they're ankle boots and the rolled edges remind us of our favorite shirt. They're fun and fresh - just the thing our feet need this fall

Wouldn't these booties look amazing with a pair of colored tights?

Crazy craving: Victorian lace up boots

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Vintage and Retro

Every few years lace up ankle booties come back into style. These vintage lace up boots could very well be the original pair that all of those boots are based on.

Even thought they are from the 19th century -- that's 18-something! -- and over a hundred years old, possibly two, they are still totally in style. In fact, they look like a Gothic Lolita version of these white Chanel boots with the black cap toe.

Shoes of the Day: Manolo Blahnik Ankle Boot

manolo blahnik calf hair ankle boot
It must be January because retailers are selling off their fall/winter inventories like...they're making room for spring!

Neiman Marcus is taking an extra 40% off selected items that are already on sale (some up to 60% off), including a pair of Manolo Blahnik Ankle Boots that are originally $890, on sale for $668, on top o f which Neiman Marcus will knock off 40% at checkout.

The boots come in a purplish wine color (shown) and black hair-calf with black leather straps and buckles on both. With a short little mini dress and opaque tights in a similar hue, these boots will be great for the rest of January, through February, and into March.

Would you wear them? Marc Jacobs bowling boots

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Shoes

marc jacobs bowling bootsWhenever I go bowling (yes, I enjoy bowling) I cringe at the thought of putting those grimy bowling shoes on my feet. They never seem to match my outfit and they are gross. I am sorry but spraying some Lysol into a shoe that has been worn by hundreds of other people does not make it clean.

What's a girl to do? Bring my own bowling shoes I suppose. Do you think Bowl America will approve these "bowling boots" by Marc Jacobs? They resemble bowling shoes I am just not sure if they are safe for the waxed down bowling lanes.

I have to say that even if Bowl America did approve these I don't think I could put them on my feet. What was Marc Jacobs thinking?! I first thought he may need to check himself back into rehab but now I am thinking he was blinded by love. This hot younger boyfriend of his must be taking up all of time, so much time that he just approves any design that lands on the table. These shoes definitely should have died in the concept stage, certainly never to be put into production.

The real question is would you wear them?

Head-to-Toe: Shop purple at Bluefly sale

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Clothing, Dresses

head to toe purpleToday seems to be the big blowout day for sales at online retailers. Bluefly is offering an additional 20% off their already marked down prices on designer apparel, shoes, and accessories. We headed over to take a peek, and put together an entire outfit - in honor of the man who let's us party every New Year's Eve like it's 1999, purple.

Sunglasses - Designer sunglasses all run up past $200, but these rhinestone logo glasses by Armani are down to $91.99. Thankfully, they also don't go too overboard on size.

Jewelry - Julie Sandlau makes pretty, feminine jewelry. Her Polygon Briolette earrings dangle an interesting gold shape and feature a tiny sparkling smoke grey briolette on 14 kt gold. The earrings were $255 and are now only $81.59.

Dress - Yes, it's sleeveless, and yes, it's short, but that's what sweaters are for. Tufi Duek's button tie-dress is too cute to pass up in a plum grey satin. The dress buttons down the front from a sweetheart neckline into a dropwaisted, full, flirty skirt that has an eyelet hem. The dress was originally $576, on Bluefly for $345, and is now $276.
