Katy Perry vs. Katie Perry? One Confusing Lawsuit!

Musician Katy Perry isn't singing a very sweet tune these days. In fact, she's told Australian fashion designer Katie Perry to cease and desist using her same name (different spelling) to promote her loungewear, reports MTV.

According to the article, Katie Perry has been designing and selling clothing under her name for the past two years, and after opening a storefront, filed paperwork to trademark her name for the store and her line.

But surprise! Shortly after filing, she received a request to stop using her own name -- the name she was given at birth -- from an Australian law firm representing singer Katy Perry. If Katie doesn't back down, a lawsuit will follow, and a judge will decide which Perry prevails.

This potential trademark lawsuit might rival the one that stylist Rachel Zoe threatened Christopher Suave with earlier this year...

Brooke Shields' Steamy Shoot

Filed under: Swimwear and Lingerie, Celebrities with Style

Brooke Shields is having quite the month! Last week she reminded us that at 43, she's still so beautiful that she can inspire a headbutting altercation. Now she's capitalizing on her feisty good looks in a cougar-inspired photo shoot for Australia's Kurv Magazine. The six-foot-tall actress showed off her toned bod in PVC latex leggings and a cinched-to-there corset while engaged in sexy poses with younger model Chris Fawcett. The saucy black and white images were taken by photographer Tony Duran, who brought out Rene Russo's sexy side earlier this year.

Nicole Kidman at the Paris 'Australia' Premiere - From Red Carpet to Your Closet

Filed under: Dresses, Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

Nicole Kidman doesn't have to try too hard to look stunning on the red carpet. She's tall, thin, and poised, and that takes care of quite a bit of it. However, when she takes a bit of a chance, as she did here for the Paris premiere of her newest film, "Australia," she makes a major impact.

blake lively at the premier of australia

Blake Lively, in addition to being a Gossip Girl, is also a gorgeous girl. And at 21, it's appropriate for her to risk some kookier fashion choices. The young fashionista succeeds more often than she fails...but here, at the New York premiere of Baz Luhrmann's epic film Australia, she fails.

Dancing With The Stars Australia - StyleFoul!

Granted, the Australian Dancing With The Stars pair of actress Charli Delaney and her professional dance partner Csaba Szirmai are wearing ballroom dancing costumes. Lurid colors, fringe and spray tan residue are de rigeur, and part of why we watch.

On the other hand, Csaba's pose is incredibly creepy. While we applaud his desire to claw off Charlie's neon sequined tie (which is almost so wrong that even the Samba can't excuse it) his facial expression screams, "I'm going to chew through your beaded top and feast on your lady lumps!"

Cannibalism is never in style, not even on the dance floor. Not even in Australia.

Ferragamo creates footwear for Nicole Kidman's new flick

Nicole Kidman is no stranger to high fashion. The very tall and very thin actress was once the face of Chanel's legendary No. 5 scent and boldly strutted down the red carpet at the Academy Awards in an amazing Balenciaga creation that got her alot of flack from celebrity journalists for its brilliant avant-garde design.

While Nicole may not be wearing either Chanel tweed suits or Balenciaga gladiator wedges in her upcoming film Australia, the proud Aussie will be donning custom Ferragamo shoes in the flick.

On the collaboration with the film's costume designer Catherine Martin, James Ferragamo says: "My grandfather, Salvatore Ferragamo, began his career working in costume design for the American Film Company, a precursor to Twentieth Century Fox, so it is only fitting that we carry on his name and our company's heritage by collaborating once again on a film from Fox."

You can see the beautiful evening sandals, riding boots, and classic wedge styles in all of their glory when the film drops this November.

Nicole Kidman covers July Vogue

OK. Oscar winner and former Chanel babe Nicole Kidman is pregnant. She's been so for a couple of months now. So we're kind of unsure as to why Vogue felt compelled to splash the "Pregnancy Update" cover line right under her chin on their July issue, but whatevs.

BUMP: T-shirts for bellies

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Dads don't get a whole lot of respect. We know this and we feel the pain. We blame Michael Keaton.

That is why our discovery of BUMP was such a surprise. BUMP, in the case of this Australian company, is actually an acronym for Babies Under Manufacturing Process. They carry an array of t-shirts geared towards the belly, be it the blossoming baby bump or the sympathy (and/or beer) filled gut on the dad-to-be.

Bondi Swim: the swimsuits to be seen in

Filed under: Holiday Style, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Daily Obsession

Unless you look like Angelina Jolie circa 1999, it can be hard to get excited about swimsuits, and exposing so much naked flesh to the beach/world. But if we did get worked up about hot new swimwear, we would be tipping designers Damion Fuller and Fern Levack (aka: design house Hot Bondi Swim) as the people to watch.

The talented Aussie couple showed their swimwear designs at Rosemount Australian fashion week for the first time this year, and to their surprise, they have been asked to show in Miami in July as well -- one of only twenty design teams to receive an invite. "My immediate reaction was to pour a good stiff drink!" Fuller told Australian Vogue.
