Us Weekly says green eyeliner is the new trend and we agree

We consider reading Us Weekly "getting up to date on the news" and "part of our job." However, we don't usually take our fashion cues from the gossip magazine. This week we are experiencing an odd about face, and find ourselves agreeing that green eyeliner is absolutely appealing and necessary.

During the spring and summer we were all about the vivid neon blues and teals. Now that there is a crispness to the air, we're ready to do something a little different with our makeup, but we want to keep the fun of all that color. Green eyeliner seems to be the magic bullet.

You know as well as we do that the only good way to pick a new eyeliner is to actually go to Sephora and draw on your hand with at least 18 different pencils. That said, in the gallery are a few of our favorites as a place for you to start your journey to an emerald eye.

Vintage Red to release 2008 Autumn/Winter line

When we last visited Vintage Red they were releasing their Spring 2008 line and we were so impressed with the pieces, not to mention the vibe of the company, that we were falling over ourselves to sing its praise. We wrote things like, "Vintage Red's latest contribution to our closet is inspired by world travels, beers in Bali, and long laughs shared with "citizens of the world" and "we love a line of clothing that wears like a postcard and a company with pride like poetry." Is it obvious that we were smitten?

Fast forward to the now. Spring has long ago sprung and wilted beneath the heat of summer and we're standing on the cusp of change- falling leaves and football. We need new clothes.

Vintage Red can help:

She's bacccccckkk.

Light jackets to take you into fall

Fall weather always provides a bit of a challenge. The weather starts out chilly, but if you dress for that, you could be sweating in the sun by late afternoon. The solution is, of course, to dress in layers, but we can't abide wearing just any old jacket for warmth -- it needs to add something to our outfit, or it's staying in the closet.

The thing is, a great light jacket can be a great addition to your wardrobe. Not only will it serve the purpose of warding off those cool autumn breezes, but it can add color, texture, and shape to your ensemble. The trick is finding the right jacket for you.

Foster Grant Pair-a-Day Giveaway: Day 9

Filed under: Accessories, Contests & Giveaways

It's the penultimate (how's that for using my S.A.T. vocabulary wod!) day of the Styledash Pair-a-Day Giveaway of Foster Grant sunglasses! The 9th pair is the one pictured above: perfect for going into the shorter sun limbo between summer and fall with light brown tinting, and great for that twilight fashionista who wears her shades even after the sun sets with that bit of sparkle at the temples.

All you have to do to enter the giveaway is leave a comment on the post that we'll put up each weekday at this time (Noon PM, EST). We'll pick the winner randomly from the comments each day!

The second pair in the Pair-a-Day Giveaway is the invisible metal-frame pair with a brown lens pictured above. I've seen them - very very cool.

How to play:
1) Leave a comment on this post (it doesn't matter what you say).
2) No duplicates! In other words, you may enter only once per day.
3) You may only win once. If you win, get dolled up, put on your shades, go twirl about town, but don't get greedy about trying to win another pair. How many pairs of sunglasses do you really need?!?! (Don't answer that.)

Today's contest will stay open until noon Monday, when the next pair of shades will be revealed. From then on, each contest will start and end at noon (except for weekends).

Foster Grant (www.fostergrant.com) has been named as one of the top 100 brands by Women's Wear Daily. Retail value of Foster Grant sunglasses is $18-$25.

Dress of the Day: Joie Love Her Madly Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

joie love her madly dressI don't know how people can get excited about fall clothes when it's going to be hitting 95 degrees in some parts of the city here in LA, but nonetheless, I couldn't stop fawning over this pretty little dress from Joie.

The Love Her Madly Dress is definitely a fall dress with its long sleeves and pecan color. The dress is 100% silk, so yes, even if you could try getting away with it now because of its "natural and breathable" fabric and short hemline, you don't want to put it on in this August heat and "glow" all over it. Sweat stains show through on dark colors. Pick it up, along with a pair of flat-bottom, knee high boots, and wait until late September.

Available from Revolve Clothing for $341.

That holiday known as Autumn?

Filed under: Haute Home, Fashionable Food, Style in the News

After feeling the consumer backlash of one too many unappreciated Christmases in October, some retail stores have been scaling back the pre-December mistletoe in favor of autumn-inspired themes.

Instead of just letting consumers maintain the normal cycle of the slow fall and the buy winter buying season, companies are trying to sell harvest foods and autumn furniture, much in the way the fashion industry has insisted upon separating out fall clothes from their wintry counterparts.

What do I mean? Well, have you visited Crate and Barrel lately? They now have promotion dubbed "Layer in the New Warmth." Same with Pier 1 Imports and Bath & Body Works's promotion "Happy Fallidays".

Autumn....apparently, it's the new Christmas.
