Longest Finger Nails In The World - Funny home videos are a click away

While "researching" today's earlier post about Cindy Jackson, the Guinness World Record Holder for the most surgical procedures (she looks like Barbie, yawn) we came across something far more interesting: Lee Redmond, the woman with the longest nails in the world.

Cindy Jackson, the Real World Record Holder for "Most Cosmetic Procedures" Corrects Us

cindy jackson, surgical procedure world record holderEarlier this month we brought you the cockles warming story of Sarah Burge, an English woman who had spent over $1 million on surgical procedures in her quest to become a living Barbie doll. Ms. Burge had also recently wrestled the Guinness World Record for most surgical procedures from American Cindy Jackson. Or so we thought.

Olga Kurylenko - 'Quantum of Solace' Barbie StyleFoul

Olga Kurylenko
We totally understand the appeal of this dress, but we feel like we've seen it before ... perhaps on our Barbie when we were kids. But maybe that's exactly what Olga Kurylenko loved about it -- it's super feminine and very, very "Movie Star." A style like this takes glamor to a whole new level.

Sarah Burge - Barbiehood is Mine!

Filed under: Style in the News

(Does she live up to the real thing? Click the image to see more photos, and other real life Barbies)

Lots of little girls love Barbie, and wish they could grow up to be like her. But hardly any of them take it to the lengths of Englishwoman Sarah Burge. Of course, most little girls don't have £540,000 to spend on plastic surgery, either.

We heart Barbie parts jewelry on Etsy - Daily obsession

We used to think that wearing body parts as jewelry was reserved for serial killers -- but that was before we came across this awesome Barbie parts jewelry. If you look closely, you might notice something kind of familiar about this heart pendant. Give up? It's Barbie's chesticles -- and don't even pretend that you never checked out a naked Barbie. A seller on Etsy is selling these highly unique heart pendants that feature a Barbie bust, encased in a sterling silver setting.

Perhaps the coolest second coolest part (it's kind of a toss up) about this pendant is that with each purchase, a $5 donation is made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to find a cure for breast cancer. Not only that, but the hearts are available in three skin tones: vanilla, butterscotch, and chocolate. There's actually a whole lineup of Barbie-inspired jewelry available from this artist. Some pieces are a bit more disturbing than others -- like these creepy Barbie hand earrings.

Hollywood's most famous make-up artists honored with Walk of Fame star

Filed under: Cosmetics, Celebrities with Style

While you might not be familiar with the Westmore family by name, you're most definitely familiar with their work, and it's their artistry in make-up that has earned the Westmores the 2,370th star on the Walk of Fame.

A Walk of Fame spokesperson said, "The Westmores not only created, but they defined the role of make-up artists in Motion Pictures. George Westmore opened the very first make-up department at Selig Studios in 1917." Members of the family were responsible for the signature looks of stars like Rudolph Valentino, Clara Bow, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, and even Barbie.

eBay WTF of the Day: Angelina Jolie doll gives us the creeps!

Girl Interrupted?
Holy Jolie. This is the creepiest look-alike doll we've ever seen. Artist Noel Cruz stripped the factory makeup off a regular doll and painted it to look exactly, exactly like Angelina Jolie.

The clothes cost extra. The clothes cost extra!

The doll went for £2,000 to a private bidder. (Surprse, surprise.)

WTF?

Tender Toes say don't bother with Dr. Scholl's Blister Treatment

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Skin Care

You know how hot weather can change the way your shoes fit? Well, we're in the middle of a heat wave, and our favorite bright orange shoes went from fitting like slippers to having little sharp teeth on the insides of the heels.

Can you say ouch?

Naturally this happened while we were out for the day, meeting two different friends with a good long walk through a museum in the middle. We had miles to go before our rest.

Now you can buy your child a Kimora Lee Simmons doll

Filed under: Style in the News

If you've always dreamed of inspiring your little girl to want to look like a tramp fashionista, today is the day that dream will come true. Toys R-Us is now selling a Baby Phat Kimora Lee Simmons doll.

The doll, created by Kimora herself, will set you back a whopping $59.99! Now, I haven't been on a Barbie shopping spree in quite some time, but that sounds pretty pricey to me. But apparently, it's worth it. According to the manufacturer, plastic Miss Simmons comes dressed in, "a pink halter with Kimora's KLS logo buckle belt, mini skirt and over-the-knee boots, topped by full-length faux chinchilla coat with KLS logo leopard-print lining."

Oh, and I should note, this doll is brought to us via Mattel, original creators of impossible body standards for woman. Is it any surprise that a company that thought selling Barbies with humanly unattainable proportions (36-18-33) was a good idea, doesn't think twice about encouraging little girls to wear fur and hooker boots? I should give them some credit. The Toys R Us website does specify that the toy is for ages 14 and up. But, we all know that for a little girl, anything down the Barbie aisle is fair game.

Tarantina Tarantino for Barbie

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

tarina tarantinoIt's a Barbie world and Tarina Tarantino is a Barbie girl!

After years of designing accessories featuring the world's most famous blond, Mattel has designed a Barbie doll after the pink haired accessory designer Tarina Tarantino. Tarina didn't just sit back and watch herself be brought into doll form; she played a huge role in designing her Barbie doll. Tarina opted for the doll to have a rounder face, a pink crystal adorned dress, and of course ... tiny Tarina Tarantino accessories.

Tarina is following in the footsteps of fellow pink lady Patricia Field, who is also collaborating with Barbie as she launches her Barbie by Patricia Field Holiday 2007 Collection this week.

Hopefully, you grew out of playing with Barbie dolls a long, long long time ago, but if you have it in you to dress yourself up like the imaginary blonde with impossible measurements, you can pick up Patricia Field's Barbie Luxe pieces for Spring 2008.

The designer, who is known for her styling of Sex and the City character Carrie Bradshaw, Ugly Betty, and the Devil Wears Prada, debuted the collection of Barbie-inspired sportswear, vintage-style dresses, jewelry and handbags at the Directives West fashion show in Los Angeles last week. The collection will launch on November 13 at the designer's store in New York.
