Filed under: Style in the News

Some New Yorkers take a brief hiatus from donning black for the summer season, but with the unseasonably rainy weather, black hasn't gone anywhere. So looks like black is the new black!

All of which makes it the perfect time for Comme des Garçon's Black store to pop-up in New York City.

The temporary "guerrilla" line will be available in two locations: a shop-in-shop at Barneys for two weeks and a freestanding store, located at 10th Avenue and 17th Street in Chelsea on June 22.

Black celebrates CDG's 40th anniversary, revisiting avant-garde designer Rei Kawakubo's early days when the color black served as her nom de guerre.

Filed under: Style in the News

Simon Doonan, creative director of Barney's New York, tied the knot with long-time boyfriend Jonathan Adler in San Francisco today.

Best of luck, you two crazy kids!

I want that! Rachel Bilson's outfit, head to toe

Rachel Bilson has a great sense of style - fact. Her look from the May 15 launch of Rogan for Target at Barney's in Beverly Hills is a great example of her classic, eclectic look that often mixes high fashion with low. She seamlessly blends a blazer with a bohemian style crocheted dress, neon bangles, and fashion forward open toe boots – a mish mash that probably shouldn't work together but do on Miss Bilson.

Our favorite piece here has to be those killer boots. God, we're such shoe whores.

Michelle Obama's style secret: Maria Pinto

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

We're enjoying all of the Wall Street Journal coverage about Michelle Obama and her sartorial choices. Last week it was about what she wore on The View. This week's Michelle missive reveals the name of the designer behind the purple "fist bump" sheath dress, and so many of Michelle's great looks: Chicago-based designer Maria Pinto.

Male bags as presented by Refinery29

Male bags? Really? Is the label given to bags designed and/or deemed acceptable for men supposed to be a play on 'mailbag' or something a little more, um, masculine? Either way, it is still better than the alternative, the murse (man + purse).

It seems that despite the great strides made in equal rights for men that carry bags, there is still a stigma attached to the act of doing so. Refinery29 believes the cause for such chastisement is due to the lack of toughness available in said bags. We're inclined to agree.

That being the case Refinery29 created a list of male bags they felt worthy of the title, corny as it is:

Bi-coastal warehouse blowout for Barney's

barney's warehouse saleEvery year around this time, women get this strange feeling in their...pantyhose? No, wallets.

It's about that time for the biggest, sometimes very strangely highly-anticipated event of the season, the warehouse sale from Barney's New York. I know when it's about to happen because my girlfriends start planning "sick days" to make it out the Barker Hanger at the Santa Monica Airport here on the West Coast. The sale has been well underway for Angelenos, selling Barney's goods for 50-75% off since February 8th, and this is the last weekend before it ends on the 19th. The sale goes on concurrently in New York until March 4th. If for nothing else, you have to go because the promotional video for the sale, where "Everyone is fabulous," is so funny.
