Spring Sports Get Stylish - Tessuta Life Woven

florida game day purseWe love sports, but we really love looking cute and unique while supporting our teams. We don't wear the same logo tees everyone else has -- we'd rather don a dress in our team's colors and accessorize to drive home our point. And, that just got a whole lot easier, thanks to Tessuta Life Woven ribbon products.

Campfire shirts: Show some pride

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Campfire was started by three friends that "shared a sense of humor, a passion for art, and a love of typography. They wanted to wear their hearts on their sleeves." Yes, a love of typography. Beautiful.

Here are some of their creations, heart on the sleeve and picture on the torso:

Barking Irons: History on t-shirts

Barking Irons apparel label is just plain cool. They make t-shirts with an appreciation of history and art that is seldom found in the world of fashion. They are smart, literate and enjoy a good beer. Where we come from that's called a sweet trifecta.

From the website: The designers at Barking Irons have taken their inspirations from writers such as Walt Whitman and Stephen Crane, Civil War era military uniforms, old American baseball outfits, old New York firemen, and turn-of-the-century fashions. The line has also paid homage to classic American tales such as the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Moby Dick.

Naomi makes out with lizard for SoBe Lifewater

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Sure, she has her faults just like everybody else, but we love Naomi Campbell. We especially love watching her hot body in a swimsuit. But as we watched Tuesday night's All-Star Game, this annoying yet remarkable commercial kept appearing that somehow managed to show Naomi in a swimsuit and then totally turn us off to SoBe Life Water forever in the same 30 seconds. Congratulations, that's not an easy to do.

National League All-Stars: The jerseys

Next week Major League Baseball will be celebrating the All-Star break. That doesn't mean you can't start celebrating it now. We're talking jerseys, people.

Please note, we cannot, in good conscience, endorse the idea that people wear replica jerseys and faux uniforms as a fashion statement. However, as a regular statement they are generally acceptable. We recommend that you wear them to the game, bar, or other sports-related event. You know, fun places.

Major League Baseball will be celebrating the All-Star break in one week. That doesn't mean you can't start celebrating it now. We're talking jerseys, people.

Granted, we usually don't suggest that people wear replica jerseys and faux uniforms as a fashion statement. However, as a regular statement they are generally acceptable. Still, you probably shouldn't wear them to the office. They're much more appropriate to wear to the game, bar, or other sports-related event. Luckily we go to a lot of games, bars and sports-related events. Mostly bars.

Tip of the day: Packing your beachbag

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Skin Care, Books, Style Tip of the Day

At the risk of sounding a little bit nutso, we definitely think there is an art to packing the ultimate beach bag. If you can pack it up with essentials and still keep it light, then you've got the knack.

What to wear on a trip to Boston during baseball season

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

If you live in Boston, or ever visited, you know that Red Sox gear is as ubiquitous as The Lottery. And there are so many items from which to choose: tshirts, jackets, the Alyssa Milano line of crazy dresses and tanks, and of course, the classic baseball hat.

The thing is, those giant man brims look hideous on a small woman's head. We've cringed many times at photos from BBQs where it looks like we're wearing a duck costume. Is that a brim or a bill?

It's a challenge for stylish ladies who want to show their pride in the reigning world champion team.

Until Alyssa does some feminine hats, we're stuck with the ladies' hat section of the Yawkey Way Store. Our favorites, like this hot black satin and lace number, in the gallery.

Go Red Sox!

We were so excited to receive the latest MLB catalog! Alyssa's back with even better team logo gear.

Once again these items were designed to be lady-centric, with flattering necklines, ruffles and a general femininity that is missing from the t-shirt stand at the game.

If nothing else, this will give you something to check out the next time your man drags you to the sporting goods store. Remember, it is possible to support your team and look kinda cute. It's okay if you drag his attention away from the game for a few minutes, right?

Hot baseball fashion from Alyssa Milano

Monday was opening day for baseball, signaling the inevitable: at some point in the next few months I will have to accompany my husband to a game.

Like most non-athletic women, my first thought is always, "What the hell should I wear to eat hot dogs, drink beer and support my team?" Thank God Alyssa Milano is one step ahead of us, with official MLB team gear in flattering lady cuts.

Well, most of it is flattering. Some of it...at least it's got team spirit. But you be the judge.

Don't worry if you don't see your team in the gallery, there are many more choices on the site!

StyleFoul: A-Rod's wife wears F-bomb T-shirt to game

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

Ok, I'll admit it. I have a juvenile sense of humor, and occasionally find crass, offensive T-shirts with four-letter slogans amusing. I, however, wouldn't ever wear one, especially not at a public event, and especially if that event were geared toward families.

But Alex Rodriguez's wife apparently thinks the "F-bomb" is funny on a T-shirt no matter where you're wearing it -- even if that means sportin' your "F--- You" top at the stadium during one of your husband's baseball games. Classy! Oh yeah, she was with the couple's 2-year-old daughter at the time. Even more classy!

Normally you'd get kicked out of the ballpark for a shirt like that, but when you're married to the second-highest-paid baseball player in the world, I guess you can wear whatever you want.

Will Ferrell make Nascar chic?

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

Will Ferrell's new movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby came out last week to mixed fanfare. That fanfare goes something like this: Will Ferrell is great, Sacha Cohen (a.k.a. Ali G) is great, and the rest of the movie .... well, let's move on to the larger issue: is NASCAR cool?

Born in Charlotte, NC -- just like Michael Jordan and Billy Graham -- NASCAR (the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing) officially formed in 1948. Ever since, it's slowly shed its southern twang, gaining network TV time and mainstream sponsors along the way. These days, it's the second most popular sport (at least in terms of TV ratings) in the US, just behind football. Take that, Major League Baseball!

And yet, can a sport be cool when it calls drivers "athletes", prides itself on burst eardrums and fiery crashes and -- most importantly of all -- forces its stars into neon orange jumpsuits with "Tide" (or Dupont or whatever) logos all over them?
