Caged Heels Are Hot for Spring!

Cage heels are sort of like gladiators, taken to the next level. And you can expect to see them all over this spring. They might not catch on as rapidly as the gladiators did since they're a bit harder to wear, but you can bet that any good fashionista has these on her '09 must-have list!

Bebe, Cocktail DressCocktail attire. These two little words can be interpreted so many different ways. We think the best way to go is with a stop-them-dead-in-their-tracks dress polished off with sparkling, metallic heels and big, bold, of-the-moment jewelry. Now that's how you do cocktail.

Bebe is funfun for Summer 2007

bebe summer 2007
Last week, Fashion TV celebrated their 10-year anniversary in LA with a fashion show featuring Bebe's Summer 2007 line at The Social in Hollywood. I got to go because I'm special like that, and by "special," I mean I somehow weaseled my way in.

Bebe's Summer 2007 collection is mostly fun and flirty, with lots of bright colos and short short short (did I say "short?") hemlines. There were no surprises with respect to silhouettes, as everything basically riffed on Spring's styles.

Eva Longoria is cute and tiny

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, LA Fashion Week, Celebrities with Style, Fashion Week

eva longoria and rebecca romijn at bebe fall 2007Eva Longoria was at the Bebe Collection Fall 2007 runway show for LA Fashion Week. Why wouldn't she be? She is now the new face of Bebe Sport, which seems like an odd pick to me, even though I adore her.

Though she looks like a fairly voluptuous woman, Eva Longoria is teeny tiny - she makes Rebecca Romijn look like an Amazon! How adorable is Eva in that little black dress, which she paired with black peep-toe heels (black peep toe is the flavor of the month, it seems). The only thing I didn't like is the new hair style. You can't tell from the photo, but it's straight and shorter, almost a long bob.

Sorry Eva, you're cute and tiny and utterly adorable, but I like you better with the long waves.

Bebe Fall 2007 at LA Fashion Week

bebe fall 2007
The look of the collection was interesting, mixing together opposing sides -- military-inspired styling with lots of peace symbols. I have to admit that though some of the looks were pretty severe and structured in Bebe's Fall 2007 collection, I could totally see myself in a number of the pieces, all of which were black and white (same as last season) army green, with a little camouflage print thrown in. Who wouldn't love that shimmering green trench coat?

Black knee high boots and coats gave some of the looks an eastern European military feel. I love all the mini-dresses paired with boots, especially a long sleeve black dress with cut-outs at the chest that hinted at a peace sign (at least to me). The peace sign showed up printed on accessories and also in the form of black lines on a floor-length white dress that only looked like a peace sign when the model pulled the full skirt up on either side.

And while I'm glad that the visor look of the Spring 2007 show didn't quite catch on this season, I am absolutely wild about the use of hoods attached to dresses.

Dress of the Day: Bebe Boatneck Cable Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

bebe boatneck cable dressYesterday, I had a wedding, and I dressed up for the evening occasion by dressing down, of sorts. I wore pants. Today, if I were going to the post-nuptial casual luncheon (I overdosed on bridal bliss already), I'd dress up for the slightly dressed-down occasion with the Boatneck Cable Dress by Bebe. It's finally starting to feel like fall here in southern California, so warm and cozy sweater dressing seems appropriate. The acrylic/wool/nylon blend has metallic thread running through it to give it a little sparkle and the boatneck makes it not too stuffy.

The dress comes in cream and is $119 on the Bebe website.

LA Fashion Week: Celebs we saw

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, LA Fashion Week, Celebrities with Style, Fashion Week

mischa barton at bebe showBesides the sucky gift bags that fashionistas were whining about, there was another thing about Fashion Week that has many people wondering. Where are the celebrities? Certainly, it's understandabale that LA Fashion Week is nowhere near the leagues of New York or the shows in Europe, but you would think with so many celebrities who live in the area, they'd make the jaunt down to Smashbox Studios in Culver City to take a peek at designers from their hometown! Still, the shows weren't completely devoid of celebrities. Here are some we saw, and some we heard were there (but didn't see because I am very vary bad about recognizing people on the street).

At Dina Bar-El: Angela Bassett, who has worn Dina Bar-El before, was in the front row. Katharine McPhee (of American Idol non-fame), strutted out with the designer during the finale.

Ex-darling of Bebe, Mischa Barton was front and center to catch the visored, black and white parade.

At Element for Hello Kitty by Victoria Couture, Natasha Hentsridge hosted and Sinbad was sitting right next to us!

Love it or leave it: Off the runway at Bebe

what Sarah wore to Bebe showWith just the two comments I received on the rocker-chic outfit I wore last Monday to the shows (which included Morphine Generation), I am a little more confident about posting photos of outfits I wore during the rest of the week. Consider this some very in-your-face encouragement to join the Styledash Flickr group and posting pictures of your own outfits!

This is a little outfit I threw together at the last minutes because I spent the better part of morning blogging! The top is a lined mesh leopard-print that has a sort of sweet but vamp-y look. I paired it with a black narrow pencil skirt. Don't worry. Even though I have a pair of leopard print peep-toe shoes that have red leather detail, my sister told me not to go the way of a Vegas tourist. I wore black ankle strap stiletto heels with a fiercely pointy toe.

What do you think? Do you love it or should I leave it in my closet?

Bebe gets a new gal

Filed under: Runway Trends, Stores We Love

Model/actress/ex-paramour-of-Uncle-Jesse, Rebecca Romijn just signed a year-long contract to be the advertising face of the clothing line Bebe. For the last two years, this job had been held by every designer's darling, Mischa Barton. Mischa, I'm sure, has moved on to bigger and better things. It's actually surprising to me that Bebe has decided to go with Romijn instead of another under-21 Hollywood starlet. For a company that has built an empire around the "little black clubbing dress", Rebecca hails from a much more mature demographic. But that could be a good thing in the long run. After all, as someone who has completely written off Bebe as "tarty teen wear", a new, older face might actually make me give Bebe a second chance.

Nautical-inspired tunic top

Filed under: Style in the News

Has this season's nautical trend left you shipwrecked on white-sailor-pants-island?

Well, if it has, you are not alone. I am right there with you. I'll admit it. I lack complete originality and always gravitate towards the traditional (and safe) nautical pieces. And as a result, I have way too many sailor pants and way too many peacoats. The worst part is that my mundane style has left me looking more like a washed-out sailor than a sultry vixen.

Well, this season I decided to abandon ship, broaden my horizons, and purchase something different. That noble quest led me straight to bebe.com where I fell in love with this tunic top. The gray and white stripes make it subtly nautical, while the draped neck and side ruching makes it conspicuously sexy.

Price: $54.
