eBay WTF of the Day: There's a fly on your...fly

Unattractive.
Well this is ugly. It's a four inch belt buckle that looks like a fly.

It's not a scarab, not a ladybug (which would be dumb, but at least an understandable effort at cuteness), it's a big fly. To be positioned directly over your fly. WTF?

eBay WTF of the day: Moving belt buckle

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Jeans, Men

Moving.Vintage Unusual Conquistador Moving SPUR Belt Buckle NR.

WTF? Here it is, at right:

"Moving." What does that mean? Does the little spur spin? No. This is an emotionally moving belt buckle.

Etched lovingly into the back:

the Conquistador
IN A TIME WHEN SPANISH CONQUERORS
REIGNED HIGH AND CONQUEST WAS
INEVITABLE, THE UNIQUENESS OF
THIS SPUR WAS SURPASSED ONLY BY
THE BRAVE AND DARING MEN WHO
WORE THEM.

Moved? I'm not. In my world, Conquistador is a tequila. Also, the inscription is in English...so this is for those people who are fascinated and moved by tales of Spanish invaders between the 15th and 19th centuries but not interested in the language.

I now have visions of dorky boys I knew in high school reading the back of this belt and wiping a single tear from their eye as they put on their pants, wracked with existential longing. What a very special belt buckle. Thanks, atwoods-attic.

No returns.

How to choose a belt buckle

When it comes to accessories, it' hard to beat the belt buckle -- it's the codpiece of our time. At least that's what I heard on some stupid TV show. Choosing the right belt buckle is an important decision, one that you should put some serious thought into. The buckle can tie your whole ensemble together and it can say a lot about you. Are you a firearms enthusiast, or an hipster fashion guru? There are even belt buckles that double as a smoking apparatus, but they look pretty stupid.

We've all seen the belt buckle done the wrong way. Lot's of people think they can just snap it on their belt and they're ready to go. To truly master the modern codpiece, you've got to think about the big picture. Think seamless integration.

Most belt buckles stand out by design. So, as with any conspicuous fashion item, the key is to display some taste and subtlety in your choice. Complementing the rest of your outfit with a design that's not over the top. Think of it like the keystone of you outfit, not just the focal point.
