The $50 flip flop near miss

As we mentioned in an earlier post, this weekend we had a blister emergency. After a false start, Band Aids saved the day, but we still wandered into Banana Republic, like a zombie, to see if they had inexpensive backless sandals we could buy and wear out of the store.

We're shaking our heads at ourselves, even writing that.

Oh, please, admit you've done the same thing, possibly more than once. It's slightly less reprehensible when you buy the $4 red checkered material flip flops at Walgreens, but it's the same behavior. Blowing cash on an impulse buy is practically a national pass-time.

Tender Toes say don't bother with Dr. Scholl's Blister Treatment

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Skin Care

You know how hot weather can change the way your shoes fit? Well, we're in the middle of a heat wave, and our favorite bright orange shoes went from fitting like slippers to having little sharp teeth on the insides of the heels.

Can you say ouch?

Got new shoes? Get Body Glide

New shoes are awesome, right? So pretty, so special, so new, and best of all, they never make your butt look big. Putting on a new pair of shoes can give you a surge of happiness -- that is until that surge of happiness turns into a blister on the back of your heel or the corner of your toes.

However, a few weeks ago, I stumbled across this product called Body Glide in a boutique running shop I was poking through. Even though the stick emollient is intended for athletes, the label also mentions that the product is good for preventing shoe blisters. So, I gave it a try with a pair of leather flats that I scored earlier that weekend, and I have to say, the Body Glide saved my feet. One coat and you're set for the day. As they say, prevention is better than a cure.
