Project Runway is Finally Back!

Filed under: Style in the News

"Project Runway" Season 6 will finally debut on Lifetime August 20. And the show's new Website launched today! Photo: mylifetime.com

"Project Runway" Season 5 winner, Leanne Marshall, may be off and running with her capsule collection for Bluefly, but we've been waiting to hear about Season 6 for what seems like forever.

After moving from Bravo to Lifetime, "Project Runway's" new home was hit with a lawsuit brought on by the show's producer, The Weinstein Company. But now that they've "made it work," legally, the fashion reality series is set to return!

Along with 16 new contestants, our favorite critical crew -- including Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors -- is back.

No longer at Parsons in NYC, the show will take place at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles. (The same school that Lauren Conrad attended!)

Season 6 is slated to debut on August 20 and the show's official Website launched this morning (July 9).

The new site features downloadable fashion games for your iPhone and computer, videos of the designers and judges and an online community where you can chat about the show.

Back in October of last year, we predicted that Leanne Marshall would win Season 5 of "Project Runway." Now that Marshall officially won the crown, she's hit the fashion world running with a collection with Bluefly!

Marshall gives StyleList a sneak peek at the collaboration and dishes on what's in store for the up-and-coming designer. It's big time!

Formerly based in Portland, Ore., Marshall has since moved to Brooklyn, NY and scrapped her first "Leanimal" clothing label in favor of something more sophisticated.

Triple threat: Bulgari ring in the metal of your choice. Photo courtesy of Bluefly.

Cartier, Tiffany, Bulgari - the names alone are worth drooling over. But the prices, they cause more of a gasp. Until Bluefly came into the picture, that is.

The online discount fashion mecca is teaming up with Circa, a leading buyer of pre-owned fine jewelry, to offer amazing deals on signature pieces from super-luxury jewelers.

To give a few examples: A classic Cartier bracelet that normally retails for $3,850 will be on Bluefly for $3,080 and a Van Cleef & Arpels necklace worth $4,900 will now be offered at $3,920. With these deep discounts, maybe it's the right time to treat yourself.

To kick off the partnership, Bluefly is hosting a 48-hour, invitation-only sale starting Monday, June 8.

Confessions of a Shopaholic Facebook Game

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Must Haves

Confessions of a ShopaholicConfessions of a Shopaholic is a hysterical must see for all fashionistas this season. We love the adorable Isla Fisher, who is apparently not a real-life shopaholic, even though she looks exactly like Amy Adams. Maybe because she looks exactly like Amy Adams. Is it okay that we brought that? Cause it's been brough'en. Oddly, we can sort of group them into an adorable and mousy group with The Office's Jenna Fischer -- note the "c;" no relation. We digress. Confessions of a Shopaholic (trailer here) has a Facebook app! Oh, information age. You're so cute. So's the app -- read on.

Why aren't you wearing this? Portolano Petunia Stripe Cashmere Fringe Scarf

While a striped scarf immediately evokes feeling of school uniform preppiness, when you throw in some bright, unexpected colors, that preppiness gets all mixed up with something else. Punk? Retro? Something else entirely? We're not sure, but what we do know is that we like it.

This Portolano Petunia Strip Cashmere Fringe Scarf, $88 at bluefly.com, is the type of scarf that would work in a variety of ways. Worn with a simple white or neutral top, it would be a little collegiate looking, like we're getting ready to cheer on our favorite football team. And if there was a football team whose colors were hot pink and navy, it would have to be our favorite.

Dress of the day - Nicole Miller "Almost Famous" gown

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

This column gown by Nicole Miller is a riot of vibrant green and magenta arranged in abstract vertical stripes and will make you look both bohemian and taller. We love the contrast of the formal strapless neckline and the groovy pattern. In delicious stretch silk, it's also comfortable to wear - so you can be both glamorous and relaxed.

This dress is sleek in the front and the back adds some interest with a V inset that creates a modified fishtail train and plays with the vertical pattern to stunning effect.

$299 at Bluefly.com

Christian Siriano's collection available at Bluefly

Filed under: Style in the News, Daily Obsession

Christian Siriano's fierce designs are now available for the masses exclusively at Bluefly.com! And, it's very much what you'd expect -- black, shiny, and tight, with some funky details.

What you might not expect is the discount -- 20% off! That makes the gold silk 'Red Carpet' shift dress $325 and brings the black cotton 'Posh' puff sleeve blouse down to $590. Okay, so maybe those prices don't exactly make the pieces affordable for everyone, but the collection is still selling really quickly -- some items have already sold out!

On the scene: Use sex, get votes!

Now hipsters can use sex to sway political opinion -- just like the grown-ups! [Damn I Like That!]

Save $15 on purchases over $100 at Bluefly. Sweet. [Budget Fashionista]

Alexander McQueen is way too self-important artistic for schmoozing, celebrities, and promoting himself. So much so, that he hopes Paris Hilton won't show up at the opening of his new LA store. Zing. Kind of. [Catwalk Queen]

A bunch of fully-clothed women freak out like they're suddenly naked in public. It's an ad for Downy Softener, and it's surprisingly funny. [Trend Hunter]

Shoes of the Day: Dolce & Gabbana Polka Dot Sandals

dolce and gabbana black polka dot ankle strap sandals
If you're in need of shoe therapy like I'm in need of shoe therapy, then Bluefly is the perfect prescription. They're having a very good sale, with shoes that are up to 70% off. Seeing that discount alone before even looking at what's available is enough to make me smile, but landing on a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sandals? That pretty much put me on the fast track to recovery.

Dolce & Gabbana's Polka Dot Sandals are a little low in the height department with only a 3" heel, but the shoes make up for it with a grosgrain ribbon on the heel and as the straps that wrap around the ankle. The bed is quilted and the front part of the sandal features the cute polka dot print.

The sandals are $248, down from $495.

Ask Styledash: Gift for our 3rd anniversary

It's in the Bag
Last week, a friend of Styledash asked for help in finding a gift for his wife for their 3rd wedding anniversary. After getting over the amazement that marriage has lasted that long (we live in LA and all we hear about our "marriages" that last no longer than the morning line at Starbucks), we started to panic. Third anniversary? What does one get one's spouse for a third anniversary?

Leather.

Putting visions of chaps and riding whips aside, we decided that a handbag would be the perfect leather gift. With a budget of $100-$200, and a willingness to go slightly over if it promised benefits, we found nine bags that would be perfect:
  • Kenneth Cole Large Buckle Satchel - for a woman who has an entire shelf of black or brown leather bags, red is a great addition to spice things up. $204 at Bluefly.com
  • Cole Haan "Paige" Medium Tote - A classic Cole Haan bag will always be the quintessential piece and will last forever, just like your marriage. $186 at Bluefly.
  • BCBG Aloe Leather "Montana" Handbag - Shaped like a Boston bag, this handbag is functional and fashionable, especially in the brownish green aloe color. $161 at Bluefly.
  • Hype "Canela" Satchel - Though camel color is usually associated with the warmer months, the Canela satchel is sturdy enough to work for fall and winter. $135 at Bluefly.com.
  • Hype Chocolate Leather "Assago" Shoulder Bag - Chocolate colored leather is the perfect all-around bag since it dark color works well with both black and brown. $113 at Bluefly.com
  • Via Spiga Pewter "Madeline" Leather Hobo - The hobo, though a relatively new-again trend, is now here to stay. In pewter leather, it's definitely "in" for the metallic trend of fall and winter. At Bluefly.com
  • Via Spiga "Neela" Tassel Hobo - Another hobo style, and perhaps the best bargain of the bunch, the Neela is slightly more interesting with the addition of a tassel. $99 at Bluefly.com
  • Furla Ivory Leather Logo Tote - Who says you can't wear (or carry) white in the winter? Furla certainly doesn't, with its simple, sophisticated ivory leather logo tote. $94 at Bluefly.com.
  • Michael Kors "Wetherby" Large Shoulder Bag - This is the splurge for our friend, but the stylish lines of a functional shoulder bag are wrth it. It's Michael Kors. $348 at ShopBop.

Dress of the Day: Diesel Luisa Blouson Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

diesel luisa blouson dressThey may be telling you the Summer is coming to a close. They may be heralding the coming of Fall and Winter.

But it sure feels like 90 degrees to me!

Luckily, the end of summer is not only the "Dog Days," but it also happens to be a time of sale madness, which means you can pick up summer dresses and clothes that you can still wear for a few more weeks. If you live out where I do, you could probably take something like Diesel's "Luisa" Dress all the way to October. Hell, with a smart little jacket, the dove gray silk tank dress with drawstring waist and embroidered mesh-trim hem can take you right up to the holidays!

The dress is on sale at Bluefly for $74.99.

Dress of the Day: Design History Button-front Jersey Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

design history dressWhen does Bluefly ever not have a sale? Not that I'm complaining, of course!

In fact, I came across today's Dress of the Day while strolling through Bluefly on my daily travels around the internet mall. Design History's Button-front Jersey Dress is the perfect little thing to start off the week. The polo collar and button-front will take you to work, and keep your comfortable at your desk because the dress is made of a lightweight 95% viscose, 5% Spandex jersey material. Pleated shoulder caps and back yoke are additional details that add to the comfort level of this dress, as well a sweet little tie at the waist.

Design History's Jersey Dress comes in black (my choice, naturally) as well as truffle brown and midnight blue (shown). The dress is on sale at Bluefly for $60.

Dress of the Day: Alexia Admor Metallic Lace Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

alexia admor dressGood morning, Styledashers! I don't know what the weather's like where you are, but it is an absolutely fantastic day here in southern California. What does that mean? It means that the red carpet arrivals for the Academy Awards tonight will be positively sparkling!

And, in honor of the golden statuette that will handed out left and right at the Oscars tonight, you've got to put on Alexia Admor's golden Metallic Lace U-neck Dress. The dress is made from a mocha gold colored floral print lace made from all man-made materials. The satin lining underneath is the same tone. The dress is ultra-feminine with the scalloped edge around the neck, and a satin ribbon trim around the waist. The dress falls a short, sassy 22" from the natural waist, so make sure you've taken care of your legs.

The dress is on winter clearance at Bluefly for $79.99.

Lady in red (coat)

via spiga cipria coatI have tried to train myself over the years to spend wisely during the regular Holiday season from Thanksgiving to Christmas because the best time to really shop is January. Stores are getting rid of their winter wear to make room for Spring, but because people are so worn out from the previous weeks, retailers have to offer some pretty steep discounts to move merchandise.

The Cipria Coat by Via Spiga is on sale at Bluefly for $216.99, which is almost 50% off the suggested retail price of $425! The coat is made of 70% wool/30% cashmere blend in a deep red called "Sienna." The coat has a spread collar, 4-button placket, side pockets, and the key feature, a removable belt that weaves through grommets on the coat. The Cipria Coat also has a rose-printed lining.

Head-to-Toe: Shop purple at Bluefly sale

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Clothing, Dresses

head to toe purpleToday seems to be the big blowout day for sales at online retailers. Bluefly is offering an additional 20% off their already marked down prices on designer apparel, shoes, and accessories. We headed over to take a peek, and put together an entire outfit - in honor of the man who let's us party every New Year's Eve like it's 1999, purple.

Sunglasses - Designer sunglasses all run up past $200, but these rhinestone logo glasses by Armani are down to $91.99. Thankfully, they also don't go too overboard on size.

Jewelry - Julie Sandlau makes pretty, feminine jewelry. Her Polygon Briolette earrings dangle an interesting gold shape and feature a tiny sparkling smoke grey briolette on 14 kt gold. The earrings were $255 and are now only $81.59.

Dress - Yes, it's sleeveless, and yes, it's short, but that's what sweaters are for. Tufi Duek's button tie-dress is too cute to pass up in a plum grey satin. The dress buttons down the front from a sweetheart neckline into a dropwaisted, full, flirty skirt that has an eyelet hem. The dress was originally $576, on Bluefly for $345, and is now $276.
